The Secrets For Getting Really Lucky On Hive

avatar

secrets.png

I recently had an interesting experience on social media...

Every where I go, I'm always talking about crypto, and more specifically the Hive blockchain and all it's amazing opportunities and tribes. In this recent conversation, it was presented to me that the only reason I was doing well in Hive is because...

I was lucky because I had more to invest than others did!

I was taken back by this statement because if anyone has been following my journey here, I joined and started building on the chain right after my life crashed and burned.

I lost my home, lost my business, lost my source of income...So when I say I got started on this chain with nothing but my hustle and grind, that's literally all I had!

On top of the lack of funds, I also had VERY limited knowledge of crypto and blockchain as a whole. But something drew me to this place and as I approach my 4 year anniversary on the chain...I still don't know what the heck I'm doing LOL

But back to the story at hand...I was told, I had more to invest than others did that's why I'm finally starting to see some results. Or as they put it, I was 'lucky'...

And to that I would say, the only secret that I know for certain is that you can WIN and get very lucky at 100% of the things you start...Just by showing up every day!

And here's why:

The majority of the people that 'start' something rarely see it through.

You get lucky...By continuing

Think about the trickle down effect that happens when you show up one day on this blockchain and start putting in the work:

You grow your reputation with like minded individuals

If you stop showing up, you are quickly forgotten about, however by showing up every day and putting in the effort, people start to notice you which leads to...

More followers

The more you show up and engage with members of this community, the more they start to follow you. Everyone is bombarded with marketing messages and creators pulling for your attention, so if you think you can show up once every month and generate engaging followers, I've got news for you.

And this leads to more rewards (*potentially)

Wanna learn how to get more rewards from the communities and tribes here?
Easy, show up daily and add value! If you are taking and not giving to the tribes or blockchain, you will be snuffed out quickly. Hive is FANTASTIC for finding the content creators and community members that actually care about this platform.

You POTENTIALLY will be rewarded if you put this blockchain and community first. Nothing is guaranteed, but I have not seen anyone come to Hive, put in the work and left with a sour taste in their mouth!

Don't play the slot machines

And what I mean is...Trying to flip Hive or any of the tribe tokens for a quick buck. Build your stake!!! I've been so focused over the past few years building my stake in Hive and the tribes I'm passionate about and it's starting to really pay dividends!

Growth here on the blockchain literally happens naturally when you don't treat this place like a slot machine!

Ignore price

The best thing about Hive and all the amazing tribes here is simple...We can actually USE this stuff each and every day! And when you think 'use case' first rather than what's the price of the token, great things start happening for your journey here!

Immerse yourself

I think this is my secret of all secrets here...And that is diving deep into the blockchain!

I never post to YouTube, I am loyal to @threespeak !

I have fallen in love with @Splinterlands and everything about the ecosystem and community. I don't even play Call of Duty anymore lol

I don't get my financial news from the Wal Street Journal, I hang out in @LeoFinance

I try to live, breathe and showcase Hive to the world. We've done that as well by creating applications here on chain and bringing our entire business and community over as well!

Complete immersion!

And as I approach that 4 year anniversary I can look back and honestly say...It was the GREATEST decision I've ever made in my life (next to marrying my wife of course lol)!

Hive has changed my life forever and it's not because I came here with big pockets, I actually had empty ones lol And it's most definitely not because I knew about blockchain tech....

It's changed my life because I saw it's potential 4 years ago, and after thousands of comments, posts, days on chain, wins and losses...I'm finally starting to get 'lucky'!

If you look at the engagement posts put out focusing on either Hive or Leo, you will see the same people on it week after week. And also you may notice they are some of the most successful Hive users. I guess they are lucky

LOL Crazy how that works out huh?

We've been tracking the comments and engagement for a few tribes as well, and seems to be a recurring theme on these lists.

Yup, same names!

ha ha ha thanks man!

Yeah and I get it, most people see the quick bucks generated in crypto. The defi, the yield, etc...But for me, the investment in time has been what I put in the most. And the payouts may not make me rich, but dang..I'm loving the journey!!

I've put in very very little capital along the way... nearly all of my investment was time and talent and it's grown nicely.

Unfortunately a lot of people have the preconcept that nowadays it's impossible to make money if you don't have money already. I started on hive in 2017, probably a bit later than you and I was probably a bit less consistant in comparision. In total I think I invested about 500$ fiat money to buy Splinterlands cards. The rest I have built it up from scratch. So yes, you need to put in the effort to attract the necessary luck but the great thing is... if you put in the effort it will work here on hive and that's what is so wonderful!

0

Amen to that!

You will get exactly what you put in, and we're not talking fiat...lol

It is a strange mindset, given many of us are descendants of people who arrived in a new country with essentially nothing. Yet convicts in Australia, pioneers moving westward through North America, Vikings landing in Greenland...none of them had a bunch of money to invest! They just showed up every day because if they did not, their children would starve. Surely we can succeed, given all the tools we have to use.

That's a very intersting way of thinking. I agree with you. Nowadays maybe it has become too easy not to show up and still survive :-).

👏🏻 Great plea for the Hive Blockchain, its community and fantastic opportunities @jongolsen! I really feel your enthusiasm. And 4 years already, what a journey!
🙋🏼‍♂️ I myself am only here since a few months now but already love this thing. The content, the Stories from all over the world, the Hive Power and its use case, the Apps like Ecency, PeakD, 3Speak, this all has really convinced me this is the place to be for content creators like me as a podcaster. And especially for this topic @brianoflondon has some of the most exciting projects ongoing that I know of (Podping, V4V).
Let’s go for the next years, good luck!

Was just having this thought a little while ago. What does it mean to be lucky? Well, often it is just putting in the work. There will be moments where you need to be in the right place at the right time, but ultimately it is what you put into it. I've been on Hive myself for 4 years now and I hardly have anything to show for it. But I'm working on changing that. Maybe I'll get lucky if I'm consistent haha.

Good work on sticking through with the platform over the years though. Your dedication is paying off and well deserved. Keep it up!

Ignoring price is probably the best thing for most new people to know. After all we have seen quite a few people run to the place with the highest price then things just settle out afterwards with them leaving out.

I agree 100 percent! Hive has changed my life in a way no other social media platform could. Now I will say I am still posting to outside sources but only because I want to be the one YouTube influencer that is promoting what we have going on. So I feel we need ambassadors like that. But other than that, you sir are spot on! It takes consistently putting in the effort, but it will start to pay off!

I had a couple of similar interactions recently. Had to remind them I lost everything to a hurricane in 2017 and I have been pulling up the boot straps and getting the work done. That’s it. Oh yeah and engaging in other’s posts is a great way to go!

I don't think lucky is the correct word to describe it. Lucky is when you pull the lever on the slot machine or buy the lottery and hit the jackpot. No effort required.

On Hive, you need effort, as you say put in the work. It's not that much work tbh, its just being yourself and being authentic on Hive, but many are still too lazy to do that. And when they don't get anywhere they blame it on luck,or lack of it.

Wow that's no way to learn by insinuating how someone got "lucky"... The only way to grow is by asking the right questions and listening to the advice of how others grew their portfolio and take from that what fits you.

Yeah, there is a group that no matter what you do or say, will always say 'they can't do anything that is suggested' which usually reverts back to...You are just lucky.

You get lucky...By continuing

Dude, this is one of the few things I hear over and over that is worth repeating over and over.

I started playing Splinterlands for pennies a day, too. I wish I had gotten the concept of staking tribe tokens sooner, since I'm still just scraping in pennies a day on most of them, now, but I still show up everyday to scoop up my handful of change, and toss into my magic piggy bank that fattens it up while I wait for it to get inherently more valuable.

I still show up to play Splinterlands, but it's actually providing a substantial portion of my income, now. I claw out 40 or 50 bucks a day in ranked matches, another 15 or 20 in rental income. I usually win a few dollars worth of cards for daily rewards. It all adds up.

Lol... When people see some of the "rewards" I get for staking Leo, for example, they roll their eyes like I'm showing them a penny and telling them they can find them on the ground sometimes if they look.

But a million pennies is still a nice chunk of money. It's not like I gotta bag them up, drag them to the bank and wait for some poor teller to count them out.

I mean, I still have to click sometimes, like a goddamn savage, but most of it just drips where I want it to be. Lol... it's a strange combination of legit effort and digital panhandling I don't have to actually engage in. It's a marvel of modern achievement and worth coming to hang out in just to watch it all evolve. Might as well make some scratch while I'm here.

0
0
0.000
avatar

That is such a huge point.

What is worth a penny today, might be 10 cents down the road.

So I put in the effort, regardless of price. I think that's such a valuable lesson for anyone. Thanks for sharing!

I'm with you, it's just about the consistent grind really!

And people notice when you Power Up consistently rather than constantly cashing out.

Although Powering Up is a challenge these days when the returns fo providing liquidity are so much better! I mean look at the bleo-bnb pool and some of the HE pools.

But being on chain a lot has certainly been a winnign formula for me, and it's nice to have people such as yerself to share the journey with too.

You have to make your own luck and you talk a lot of sense. I see people coming here expecting to make a lot from the start, but those of us who stuck it out took a while to earn. I made nothing on a lot of early posts, but it was still fun. The people of Hive make it special.

I am right there with your "very Lucky" to have found the Hive platform. I am not afraid to put the time in, so to speak. I believe that if you put in the effort good things will come your way. There are a lot of "Haters" that do not want to put in the time and then are jealous when they see others becoming successful in something they were never truly devoted.

The good part is that we are still in the infancy stage of the Hive Platform and crypto itself. Just wait and see what happens to it when it actually starts growing up to maturity.

0

I remember when we first started telling CTP members about Hive and encouraging them to get on the train...

A bunch of them laughed at us and told us we were idiots for adopting blockchain and crypto...Haters gonna hate lol

Hey @jongolson, It's great you found such success on Hive and the blockchain!!

I truly understand where your coming from and LUCK has nothing to do with it. As long as I've been following you, even before Hive, I know that you've have put in the work and you're here everyday doing wht you need to do to make it happen. You're growth and results of making it on Hive and the blockchain are truly well deserved!

You preach, I listen.

I remember when I started on steem by following you, I had heard of steem about 2 years prior but procrstinated on starting an accout simply because of 'fear of the unknown'. So when you bought it to #CTP I had no choice but to take advantage of what was in front of me all along.

I'm not yet making a living from hive, (and the key word is 'yet') but I know I still have about another couple of years before it start to work for me. First I need to step up my game, after all I'm only about a third into the game compared to you.

Again, You Preach, I Listen!!

Everytime I hear you say do this, follow that, get this token, follow this tribe/person, I'm on it 'cause I think of you and know that you are my role model to follow to get to where I want to be. You've been there, you've done it and so can I, I just have to follow your lead.

The problem is that people want to make a quick buck and that's just not provided here on Hive and soon as they see that they're ready to run or think that you only got what you have because you had the money to invest.

People this is not so, and I can say this because it took me a while to get where I am but when I start doing more of what jon preaches, and have less excuses, I'll be up there too! It's not about luck, it's about dedication and being there 'EVERDAY'!

PATIENCE is Key!

Splinterlands is a great example to rewarding work and consistency, I've been playing since 2019 just for the fun of the game and loyalty to our blockchain.

Thank you so much for this! It's beneficial to newbies who struggle to find the right things to do that contribute to our success. And just like you said, continuing. I will continue to push out content that I love writing about and connect with like-minded Hivers.

I for one am glad you got 'lucky' Jon! I am where you were and if it wasn't for you insisting so much about Hive, I most probably wouldn't be here and starting to get 'lucky'!!!
So a huge THANK YOU to you, @jongolson!
A very grateful hiver, Lee :)

Hi @jongolson
I hear you loud and clear.
I started with a small stake on Steemit 4 years ago and the harder I worked the more I earned. I researched everyday to earn and most importantly learned that win-win was a successful formula. You give and you get.

You give people attention and you get attention. You make comments and you get comments. You upvote posts and yours get upvoted.

But most importantly you show up every day and put in the work posting, commenting, upvoting and engaging.

I always tell people that I mentor that I didn’t get where I am by good luck, but by hard work. In this way I made my own luck.

Keep up the hard work and enjoy the success it has brought you.

The more you show up and engage with members of this community, the more they start to follow you

Especially coz Hive doesn't work on algorithms like Facebook etc.

I agree ppl start everything hot and sweaty and then the consistency fizzles out. I won't lie. I do that sometimes too if I don't see immediate results.
