Trends & Things

I've been creating content on the blockchain since December of 2017. That's almost 5 years of showing up, pretty much every day and creating some kind of content for the community to consume.

I've stied to stick to a consistent schedule, where my readers and followers can expect certain 'types' of content every day I press publish.

What do I mean?

My schedule looks like this....

Sundays - I do my SportsNerd show that I've been co-hosting with a fellow 'nerds' for over a decade now.

Mondays - CryptoMondays on @ctptalk but on this account, I tend to focus on writing. I try to plan my week with a theme to follow but if I ever get stuck, I find something that I feel will add value to the blockchain.

Tuesdays - The CryptoManiacs podcast with @taskmaster4450 and this episode usually has a special guest that we bring on to talk about Hive and all it's applications!

Wednesdays - I follow along with the 'theme' on Mondays. But if I don't have a theme for that week, I dig into my stash of topics and talk about the blockchain or entrepreneurship!

Thursdays - More writing, which I really enjoy! If no theme is set for the week, I'll freestyle it and come up with a topic I think brings value again to the chain.

Fridays - The CryptoManiacs Q&A session. Each week we ask for your questions on @ctpchat and answer them during the show. This is such an awesome experience, as I love hearing from people in the community each week!

Saturdays - The end of the week and it lets me review #MyHiveGoals and document my journey on the blockchain.

Here's a few trends I've noticed over the past year or so, as I've kept this schedule....

I love doing my sports show on Sundays, but this most definitely gets the least engagement on chain. Maybe I haven't tapped into the sports community enough on Hive, but for reasons I have yet to figure out...Most people on Hive don't seem to be a fan of NFL football lol

The days I do my writing (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) seem to attract the most engagement. I get decent upvotes but more importantly, the comments seem to flood in. I know people hate to hear this, but Hive still has a big 'blogging' brand and it's obvious to me from the engagement I get on the days I write content.

The live streams / podcasts for CryptoManiacs gets decent views on 3speak. If I have a well known guest and the upvotes come in, the views obviously go up. But generally the most traffic I get is from the replays on Spotify and Apple podcasts! Even though it's considered web2, the engagement in the form of replays is quite a bit more than what I get on Hive.

Why am I bringing this up?

Mostly...To document my journey! It might bring up some good conversations about different apps on Hive and which seem to bring the most engagement. But by monitoring the trends I'm seeing, I can tell where I need to put in the work to provide better content for the community!

That's the beauty of Hive. The journey is very rewarding. You dont need to be perfect to start tapping in.

I feel video is addictive, once you get addicted to the chatting and doing podcast and streaming out of it, you tend to enjoy the process. I feel once I get into 40s, I'd be reducing my writing and focusing more on voice and the video. Currently I only post on education and CTP swarm but hopefully I get to post for rest of the 5 days of the week. Your categorized content writing is an inspiration. :)

When you count viewers for the podcast and Monday show, you do add only the live viewers or those who watch the replays too?

Hive is still entrenched into blogging, it brings a significant amount of users to the blockchain.

I often see blogging as the lowest hanging fruit in engaging with the community, getting known and learning about the ecosystem.

It's nice to have a schedule. I generally try to make a few posts but there aren't any really fixed days for them though. It's something that I should probably get used to and work on.

No kidding, I have been here about the same time. I think a lot of us came on in that three month period there. It is awesome to still see some many of us doing so well. I think it is good you spread things out the way you do. I started taking the weekends off from the blockchain a while ago and that has been game changing for me. Gives me time to recover so I don't burn out and it gives me time to collect material for new posts.
