Angel Investing: A Grease In The Wheel Of Change?

When i was about 14, i started sketching footballers, i was understudying artists who could actually sketch really good, then years later, I began making architectural designs of modern houses, this time too, I was understudying people who did it and earned a living. I particularly earned some money, nothing significant.

But sometimes when efforts pays, the intent sometimes becomes more fufiling than the money earned itself. I also loved playing football, but due to a lot of health complications I couldn't play. However i couldn't understand what I was really good at, this was because I was good at everything I tried doing and most importantly I was even more expressive than my peers.

I could directly sell you a pitch. I landed gigs that I actually wasn't qualified for because I talked my way into convincing the owners of these business. Truth was, what I usually say to influence or convince often exceeds my capabilities.

I was particularly sacked on a job for not fufiling my promises. The man felt I had potentials to be good at something. But I was to caught up doing a million other things. That was when I told him that making Money was my passion and that having a job isn't my goal, my goal was to be wealthy beyond the capabilities that of having to sit on a sole or singular job.

He told me to pursue a career and stop dreaming of things. I knew I couldn't pursue a career I was too broke, too tender and in the society where i come from having dreams with no money virtually makes you a toothless dog.

Listen; when you sell people an innovation on paper they see a delusion, they see variables and probabilities and most rich people I knew back in the days were Post-investors, they needed to see that you've put in money and the prospect is making waves already then they can invest in you. This was a way to safeguard their money. But then if I become a sucess without your money, Why would I need your money when my chances of sucess has tremenduosly increased?

Nevertheless one thing with having big dreams is that it hardly pays your bills, it takes away your concentration from what seems viable and tenable and when you fail to rather drop these dreams, you don't just become a laughing stock, you're seen as a person without ambitions.

In Nigeria you hardly see angel investors and that is why the class of wealthy people are always the same. The chain never changes. You hardly see a nobody become a billionaire, wealthy people buys into the dreams of their fellow wealthy people, rather than expending their reach to empower prospectful entrepreneurs.

Dreams needs "equity", resources, that resilience to push it through, the material to bring it to the limelight and that extra time. Sometimes I see education in this country as rather meaningless and the moment people begin to see it as a means to acquire just knowledge and not a means to get out of poverty the better for them.

What i'll say is that innovations are being born everyday on the internet. Sometimes all we need in life is the free liberty to make mistakes but being prepared to learn from the consequence. People don't invest in other for the fear of consequence and this reminds me of crypto. Dreams die without money to fuel them, no matter how these dreams might change the world

Most people I know who made a fortune from their creations had to push themselves to a certain level and then lobby their way through to some investors. It's a jungle out there.

Based on the kind of system and society we have I can't completely blame investors for needing more from a person before investing in their idea. I've experienced hard work pay off big time through my business activities at some point. It never happens exactly when you think it should, but it does happen.

It's a jungle but there's still a path if you look closely.

In life, playing by the risk is everything. In all sincerity I achieved almost everything I got in life as as result of my willingness to take risk. Life in itself is a risk. Truth is most Nigerian investors aren't angel investors. But as for me, when I have all the money I want to be the kind of investor that builds people dreams and ambitions, this is the true wealth.

Or maybe it's just easier said. Building wealth isn't easy so you'd be extra frugal with your choice of investment, most probably though.

I love challenges believe me, I have a real-time investment I'm already putting in place, plus after that I have some people with brilliant ideas I might want to fund their dreams, nothing elaborate. Just helping people while eventually securing the future. It's a passion I have, investing in people.

Well even here angel investors themselves require people to have a certain amount of capital. Its not really inclusive for the poorer people and its not exactly the best. However I do think people tend to choose better ideas rather than pursuing their dreams.
