Defining Yourself As A Creator

avatar

20230312_163208_0000.png

In reference to this post, I want to continue by saying that there are actors, comedians, YouTubers, and Instagrammers who we might not find anything valuable about them, but these people have millions and billions of views and subscriptions. Now there might be a sizeable population of people who share the same unpopular opinion as us.

This is evidence that humans cannot collectively share ideologies when it comes to quality or value especially when it comes to the web.

Some people cannot even coin proper sentences in English or write well-formatted posts, but they've established content creators on the web.

This is to show that the web has created different ideologies regarding what is valuable, what isn't, what should be rewarded and what shouldn't

This Is often relative across the web.

On hive, many people aren't professional or savvy creators, but this doesn't mean their contents aren't quality enough. Sometimes, the simplicity of the content they bring is what mostly attaches the value we affiliate with them and the content they're bringing to the table. It only goes to show that being unique, innovative, and creative, are some of the major ingredients to being successful creators on the web.

On web3, you might add networking to that and this is simply because, we can get people to affiliate a certain level of value to our content, according to how we relate with them. This is what I call networking bias. There are many people who affiliate some sentimental value to some creators because they've come to know and trust them.

Content Creation: Success & Money

Now, a person can be a very good creator, but they might never hit it in terms of success and money, this is when we begin to look at the grey areas like luck and connection. Sometimes it's easy to say a content creator is not deserving of their subscribers or views on places like YouTube.

For example, there are so many great creators on YouTube who might never cut their teeth, majorly, this is now reliant on the system and not them in general. This isn't to say quality is ignored altogether, but "quality" as a streamlined rubric is just the tip of the iceberg.

Failure Or Platform?

For example, I never made it on Fiverr. But I started micro-sourcing when I didn't and my luck was better. Monetization as an industry is still young, full of prejudice, too competitive, and complicated on the surface.

This is why I say, there's still no place like Hive. In earnest, it's time people begin to focus on interest, intrigue, and fascination and not entirely focus on length or depth.

While everyone on web2 will eventually benefit from hive, there's still the need to tell them about this. Being built on blockchain technology and powered by crypto, we will always have the setback of volatility, but this is one of the perks of Crypto and we'll keep finding ways around it.

The Idea Behind Intrinsic Value

Not to meander from the main theme of the post. People do not really need to be professionals to be outstanding creators, the answer lies in discovering what works best.

I like to think we have choices when it comes to creating, the reason why we might think otherwise is that we might be plagued with indecisiveness, and not having the courage to start. For example, I'm fascinated by finance as a niche.

I like photography, and have a thing for editing videos. Sometimes there are things we're good with but lack the proper knowledge to explore these things. Being a creator is a journey without a destination, we might start differently, but exploring different things inevitably establishes us in places we might never imagine.

I must say that I had never believed in.Luck, but belonging to this platform changed my way of thinking, and I say this because almost every day I make publications in which I put my soul, I do them with love, dedication, if I sing I try to do my best, if I make up I use quality materials and I do not receive support, or at least very little, while there are users who sing out of tune, use the worst materials and their rewards are crazy, which makes me live frustrations, the truth of it all is that in the same way you have to keep betting on the platform and keep working hard to be seen. Greetings

Hive isn't all about focus on content though, there are other aspects to explore, where you can build true friendship that can even extend to real-life. Sometimes, these aspects are often ignored. The human factor is why it seems challenging. But in reality, enjoying the experience, rather than trying too hard is important.

Content Creation: Success & Money

This was the part I could relate to. Success on the blockchain has to deal with connections and quality. If you have quality without connections it becomes hard sometimes. We are growing and we are doing our best in building that.

Thanks for sharing.

There's the aspect of genuinety and being true, belonging and finding a purpose as well. But that headline is general though. I still believe a lot of things in web2 will keep being prevalent in web3. The human factor will always prevail.

Honestly on Web 2 content Creators who Got into it early are somehow so lucky... like we're now early In web 3.

Simplicity of the content is indeed a real beauty... Tho, I tried YouTube years back never worked, did Gaming and left.

It took some year to find something that I can stick with and this discovery of finding what works best is truly Awesome.

Web2 takes precision, talent, a whole lot of doggedness and years of building continually without the promise of scaling. Although I think we might have web3 based platforms like hive in decades to come, who knows maybe years. But you're right, those who got in early are lucky.

For me there is no importance if I don't receive support, whether it's financial or moral😜

I never made it of Fiver either, I tried but got even a hello...
Hive is simply different, the low, mid and high content creators get to make they find their place on Hive.

I've given it my shot on Webs platforms and all I get is zero exposure, I sometimes think maybe am the one not getting it right.

I think some African countries are not given exposure to some certain gigs. I have a friend who is on Fiverr. He uses VPN to change his location to the US and guess what? He started having access to good and paying gigs. Sometimes I think geographical location is an issue.

I love the concept of networking bias, it's almost prevalent in society. I often wonder why some people see it as gaming the system. It's basic human psychology. People are more inclined to help you out if they know about you or could relate with you.

That's thr gospel truth. It's how it works in real life and hive is not different either. This place isn't an utopia or a mirage.

Networking bias is a very important thing. Knowing the right people in all spheres of life can make all the difference any time.

It's even all sphere of life, I believe the right communicative skills can build the lives of people, but it can be challenging to build as well.

You are very correct, nobody started out as a perfect content creator but you have to discover what really works for you. Thanks to hive that gave everybody chance to be what they want too

Yes, thanks for agreeing. I remember doing a microsourcing gig on the online, I started out very poorly and didn't even know whether I would make it or not, but I became better with the gigs after a year

Starting is the hardest part and wanting to have perfection from the beginning. If we look at it like a journey as you say, then we can see these are unrealistic expectations.

Yeah, starting is the hardest part because one has to invest time, strategy and skills. Sometimes it doesn't work out and disappointment sets in. The setback of staring can be real.

I agree that people should just do what works best. Not everything will fit people and as time passes, that may change though. It's a never-ending journey and you have no choice but to adapt to whatever the new model is. The youtube system is kind of crazy and I can never really stop seeing changes happening due to the monetization program or even copyright hitting them. It's kind of scary how much power a single network/company can have over people.

The money on YouTube is crazy, so I think it's the reason why we have so many cut throat approach by so many people. Cutting it on YouTube is someone crazy these days and like you said, how such network can have control over a lot of people overtime is absolutely crazy. I think it might get better in the future, no on YouTube, but we might have better systems.

Like I said in the post, people eventually need the right networking skill in every social network and hive is not the different. It's mostly about effort off-posts
