Officially Earning With Splinterlands
I am a new player to splinterlands, so I'll write my post from the point of view of a newbie and hope the concept would feel relatable and informative to anyone who wants to play splinterlands but is scared of the details, the intricacies and the time it might take to understand what they will need to do. So chaos legion presale went live and in just some moments a voucher (which is needed to buy a pack) was already selling for $21.
I had to make a decision, I had a basic or little investment, so my decisions needed to be top-notch, I however made a decision to buy this voucher due to the fact that I was scared that the prices might skyrocket. What I didn't know was one voucher enables you to buy just a pack and not many.
So.....
I ended up buying the voucher for $23, transferred it in-game and purchased the pack, (unopened fill probably further notice) while I'm not highly expecting anything huge from one pack, I just had to buy it just because it's new, anything might happen, and I might be lucky when it's time to eventually open the pack.
However, this isn't the main highlight of this post. Exactly last week I wrote about my first impression after playing splinterlands sparingly for 3 weeks.
So this week I decided to throw in about $225 basic investment, due to the fact that this is relatively small, I wanted to maximize it to the fullest, so I spent about $27 buying the pack and the voucher and after that, I had about $198 left, so I bought DEC with that remaining fund and then started.
Firstly....
I started out with buying level one summoner from the different elements, basically summoners are everything, it's like the foundation or basis to build one's deck, so I began. From just the few days I had initially played, I feel in love with earth elements and this was as a result of playing designated daily quest that required one to use a certain element, so I bought three summoners, pyre, mother khala as well as Wizard of Eastwood which was fire, life and earth respectively.
After That....
I went on to buy some monsters too, for example the pelacor mercenary which was a good bargain at $0.24, the unicorn mustang too, came handy, in daily quest for earth battles, he's devastatingly came in handy. Here's a list of the cards I now own.
I could have bought more monster, especially magic or neutral, but I was wary of not spending beyond my budget. I could have bought water and death monsters too, but then, they weren't just my favorites. Death has got some stunning monsters with healing abilities and sometimes comes in handy, especially if you're trying to play a game with little MANA.
Life is great when I have a MANA of over 33 and this is why I appreciate the Golem. A stunning melee monster. The elfret elder too is a stunning magic Monster that adds up special abilities especially when it's the last Man standing.
Earning...?
Officially, I have begun to earn, and for a day, I have earned over 5 SPS. I know this is an airdrop that spans for 365 days only, hence very temporal, However I plan to stake some of these SPS overtime and then use some to buy more cards.
This wouldn't stop me from throwing in cash occasionally, to improve my deck, while also increasing my collection power as I advance to the higher leagues with bigger players and better strategists. I am definitely overwhelmed with the details of the whole game. The most thrilling part is having to think you're going to lose a game, while ending up winning it and vice versa. I'm not much of a gamer myself, but it's too early to say and there's still a long way to go.
I wouldn't lie, my collection power is over 600 now from the initial 145 it was, and this has taken me off novice significantly. Now my collection power is still small considering there are people who have over 5k collection power. But then, the mindset is to cultivate a long-term strategy. All this wouldn't be possible without the tutorials given to me by @joetunex, he spent over 7 hours of his time, telling me the appropriate things to do. Thanks a million, chief. So I'm up and running, hopefully it's only the beginning.

Make sure you are kicking asses out there and one day when your deck matures we can challenge each to battles.
I am thinking of buying more DEC so as to.... you know, buy some other rare or probably the upgraded or better version of the ones I'm currently holding. Just that everything feels so expensive at the moment. Maybe I could consider renting too.
If you are considering renting be sure you have the time to play and make the cost of rent back and possibly more otherwise you will be at a lose.
This should probably be in the future when I have more resources to thrown in.

It's nice to see you earning but I would avoid buying level 1 summoners. They let you borrow quite a few level 1 summoners for use but I am not sure what is exactly in each starter deck right now.

Really? Well I'm just trying to start out,
Everyone starts out with some delegated level 1 cards. So I would of checked what you had available before buying them. It might be a bit too late but you can always check it out. The starter pack cards have that S symbol on them and it should be kind of hollow in your cards page.

In my opinion, you should hodl that voucher, maybe get more if the Hive price continues to decline and resell before packs are released or wait until further use cases are announced for vouchers to decide. Buying individual cards seems to be the best move for new players trying to build a deck past just easily earning by hodling packs, dec, sps and vouchers.
Congrats on mitigating to SPL finally! @joetunex and @oadissin helped me a lot in finally making my move to SPL... high apr returns helped too...
I will see your content easier too for spl if you use the battle tag on top of the spl tags no big deal as I am consolidating all stake to spl cards. Curating content even is not lucrative since there is massive gains to be made with SPL nft acquisition and curating social media content is tiresome(seeing massive spam and downvotes on content not spam is getting old), in my opinion, when you could just play a blockchain game and have a better experience in terms of mental health.

I am still working on my neutrals and starting to get used to using the chicken more as I have rent her a few times. gonna try and get one gold rare for each splinter monster, one gold summoner and one gold neutral. maybe next week I will be close...

Your collection is awesome bro. You have seriously strengthened your game. You can easily enter Diamond league playing with your cards. Also, you have maxed out many neutral cards.
Not easily. I can get to gold 3 easily maybe gold 2 now but the competition is fierce like Sasha. I can rent though somewhat minimally and get to diamond 1 and close to top 100 in gold 1. But I have a ways to go and might be ready to compete better without renting in gold 1.
Diamond league my summoners would need to be leveled up big time or I would have to get a level 4 legendary summoner for each splinter and level all my cards up. Currently not a reality as that money(like 20g) would def go towards BTC lol
My collection can't compete in Diamond III. I make sure to finish the season in Diamond III for more rewards loot chests. I wish the Splinterlands team think about an intermediary league between Gold and Diamond, perhaps Sapphire league.
I half expect them to move up the requirements lol like 50-100k collection 😅
The vouchers are expensive, it wasn't like I got it airdropped to me plus it's a one time purchase to actually buy that pack. It was expensive when I bought it, so I can't holdl it since it's been used to buy that pack.
As for Migrating, I still need a Strategy going forward, building a deck is pretty expensive, so I'm thinking of just holding DEC, staking the sps, maybe earn voucher and see what I'll do in the future. SPL is all about having money to earn even more money. So I'll just take develop a strategy, it's whole lot competitive out there
Hey the chaos cards are still reasonable. My strategy this time around, after building a few decks for others and myself, was to start with the chaos league cards as they were the cheapest but also keeping in mind to get a summoner for each splinter. Also important to get your cards leveled up to your summoners ability to call them. I looked at the league requirements for card levels. I leveled my cards up according to Gold 1 tier requirements. Overall my strategy was complex and long winded. It involved consolidating my HSBI shares and spt holdings into the cards as I saw the bottom of the market and how lucrative the chaos cards were.
With all that being said, if your strategy is to play then yeah start looking into those areas I mentioned. But I had/have been blessed recently with investing money.
There is a really good opportunity to get vouchers and packs now while the hive market is down and to resell at a ridiculously higher amount next month especially next year; look at the beta, alpha, dice and untamed packs on the secondary market as they were initially around 2 bucks...
I'll definitely play... There's so many places to put in funds. Like you said, you've been blessed with investing money hahaha. I was too sometimes ago but I think I did some pretty bad investments and I lost a chunk of money. So it's just about trying to maximize the little I have. Nevertheless, thanks for putting me through. I'll check to see how much I can still throw in.
Yeah, also the gold cards are a good buy especially the gold rares. They rent well, currently great price point for rares and you get more collection power which means more sps air drop points. The chaos rewards cards are not as high in collection power as the older cards. The higher you level your gold cards up the higher the rental rates.

Thank you, truth is I didn't know much about selecting, there's so many sides to playing this game and I would have been lost were it not for the guidance of the person who helped me, I guess the best is to always wait before selling since one don't know what the future holds.
No, it would have been Malric Inferno that I saw. It is a pretty complex game. I have been playing since the beginning and I still have a lot to learn.
