The Cost & Value Of Knowledge.

20221130_065359_0000.png

We're all seekers in life and this is because every one of our actions is tailored toward finding answers. The life we're living in itself is a question. So we dedicate all our lives to looking for answers and some of the answers we find on the way are what determine the people we become.

Seeking for knowledge, for example, envalues us

...and even if knowledge becomes redundant, its value might still be relevant. So seeking knowledge and finding it does not just inform, educate or enlighten us, it can create opportunities. These opportunities can help us seek better opportunities and the cycle becomes endless until we hit a certain destination where we can seek no more.

Money is ubiquitous, it is the most sought thing in the world because it answers almost every wish and every desire we have.

The Value We Determine

Although we created and assigned the value it possesses, it proves that we can Collectively assign value to what might not carry any value logically. When people collectively assign value to a commodity, there's an agreement between them that that commodity carries value, but the only way we can ascertain the value of a commodity is if we're informed.

In 2019, it was said that a Nigerian fisherman caught a white martian that was worth $2m, but he ate the shark with his family because he wasn't informed of the value of the shark. For example, $2m was going to change his life completely, but eating the fish was also going to cure his hunger needs, he was unaware of the former but informed of the latter.

Because he lacked the first knowledge, he would remain poor for most all of his life

Need & Knowledge: Creating A Variety

However, not having Knowledge is a state, at each point in time, we can decide to change this for the better. However, deciding not to seek knowledge keeps us in the dark, prone to manipulation and exploitation, it takes away our ability to discern, what is valuable and what isn't, what to seek and what not to.

However, there are human restrictions when it comes to knowledge and sometimes we can either become a barrier or access it. We seek differently in life from our different perspectives, a lot of people seek according to their needs, but the truth is, life is always in transcension.

png_20221130_065042_0000.png

But We Can Reshuffle

We go from the knowledge we have to that which we do not and we go from that which we need to that which we might need. We cannot ascertain the knowledge that would forever remain useful to us, however, the usability of knowledge and not its longevity is what we often consider, because no one stops their learning process, or else they might stop living, not physically but literally.

We're naturally meant to be seekers and when we become passive in our quest for knowledge, we become redundant along the way. While knowledge is achievable, the value it might carry might make it unobtainable unless we can exchange it for the value we possess (money).

Some people feel entitled in their quest for knowledge, the problem with this is that it makes one complacent and lazy.

Guess what?

Entitlement is already a big problem and the moment we begin to cultivate it in the quest for knowledge, we might just exist without leaving a mark or even thriving. There is the knowledge that can be easily accessed and there are some we have to pay for.

This is because there is the knowledge that technically slaps unimaginable value on our member. Learning to trade effectively with Crypto, is a type, of course, you can buy online, the reason is that when you're finally equipped with this knowledge, you can make money for yourself while transferring this same knowledge to another person. The value increases with time, inflation and change.

Free Vs Cost

Any difference?

This doesn't mean that free knowledge Cannot envalue or make us money. Sometimes we can sell free knowledge for money, but this doesn't mean that the knowledge we're selling didn't cost us anything. It could be time or effort. The value we get for knowledge can be non-monetary as well.

This type of value can impact us in ways that money cannot, however, the way we market, remodel or repackage knowledge can create instant value. For example, the knowledge of antiquity might seem obsolete, but man's interest in older commodities creates value where we might see no value, like I said, we can determine what should be valued. (I'll talk about this next time)

I agree with your philosophical point of view, knowledge gives value. If the fisherman had knowledge about what he was about to eat to settle his hunger I think he would have gone for what could change his life first instead of hunger. I think we have come to a point where y knowledge is rampant all one needs to do is choose a field and research on it, become relevant in that field and also explore..

Thanks for sharing

Exactly, I agree with you. The truth is that he had knowledge of his hunger needs, but was totally ignorant on the knowledge that really mattered the most; the life-changing knowledge. I think in life, it's essential to always distinguish

I affirm to that, it only will be possible if there is knowledge about the subject matter.

Knowledge about subject matter tailors our aims, it can be good towards achieving mastery.

What you are doing is correct, just like people buying lotteries/items that they don't know will get what they want or what they get, at least they have tried and tried to It pleases his own heart to play like that.
Likewise in terms of giving knowledge for free to other people, even though it looks free and sometimes we don't get anything from it, at least you have done good and you are there Judgment from God and the recipient of the knowledge, I'm sure, even though we give for free what we have in any form, we will get results from what we do in Another place
The point is that nothing in this world is wasted if we live it correctly and sincerely because God knows what he thinks is good and will provide us with sustenance elsewhere.

This is my knowledge, not blaming or cornering, I was even inspired by your post.
Thank you

Free or paid, knowledge is valuable. It adds to our worth and increases the opportunities. Sometimes, it happens that we acquire the particular knowledge so late that if we had it earlier we would have saved a lot (it may be time, money or efforts)

The case of fisherman that you mentioned is a nice demonstration of what the lack of knowledge may cost us.
Sometimes we don't give importance to things and the consequences are to be faced by generations. Decades ago, my grandfather overlook the opportunities that his another relative availed. The difference today is that the man's children are millionaire while my grandfather's children have struggled throughout their lives to make a reasonable income

I don't know if your grandfather is still here, but I can tell you that my parents too made grave mistakes because they didn't seek for knowledge rather they acted in ways that has affected I and my sibling. So I understand what you mean. I think I'm equally happy with this age we've found ourselves in. It means we can intentionally seek for the right knowledge to better ourselves and also pisituvelt impact others because this is absolutely necessary..

Because he lacked the first knowledge, he would remain poor for most all of his life.

This is what lack of knowledge can do to a person. We would always be in the dark if we do not seek for knowledge because what we do not know will always be above us. I really pity the man because he could have made millions of dollars which could have changed his life.

Every human being is a seeker of knowledge and we shouldn't stop. We see value in something we were informed about and not what we do not know. This is why we shouldn't stay in our cocoon but to explore in finding knowledge that will change our lives for the better. Knowledge begets opportunities which can turn things around for us.

I do not pity the man though because when one comes in contact with a strange occurrence, the next thing is to seek for knowledge, but then everyone sees differently, where you might see a need for knowledge, another person might see something that satisfy their needs.
It's crazy but we have to educate ourselves in the most important aspect of life so that we might not fall behind when our lives could have changed for the better.

You are right. We aren't an island of knowledge and this is why we need to ask for clarification or make research before jumping on the wrong conclusion or decision. When it comes to seeking knowledge, we all have different perspectives but the best is to try to educate ourselves more in order not to regret our decision later.

The truth we need to keep impacting knowledge to ourselves so that we get updated on what is going on. What we know now might not be useful to us in the next 5 years. So if we don't keep learning, we lose out on what could be of impact to us.

Exactly, knowledge becomes redundant and we have to build to constantly make it purposeful, remembering to update that which makes it difficult for it to be redundant but relevant. Our whole lives, we're meant to be seekers, this can empower and chabbet our lives

Knowledge is power, the main reason why some men are great and standout today is because they seek knowledge and this set them apart from the rest.

From my lens of how I view the world, Knowledge is vital to survive and thrive in the world. Without it, you blissfully wander in the dark.

Given that knowledge is inexhaustible, it makes sense to prioritized the kind of knowledge you seek based on the value in can bring to your life in your present circumstances or in near future.

Well, your affirmation is true. I guess, it's inexhaustible and there are way we can still define knowledge that would make even more sense.

I think there is a cost for everything and knowledge/experience is definitely worth something. An expert that works on fixing motherboards will easily be able to figure things out on a board but it might take you days. Any knowledge is good but sometimes I wonder if the free stuff will dwindle over time. I see the economy moving more and more toward a subscription model.

I see the economy moving more and more toward a subscription model.

I do so too, I think as for free knowledge, it depends on the way we actually packaged it, sometimes when we refurbish and repackage knowledge, we can actually sell it directly to the people who needs them.

Knowledge they say, is power, in what ever we do, we must ensured we impact ourselves because the more you build up yourself the more you are able to present yourself out there. And they say, it's what you have upstairs you can share to people around..

..For my people perish for lack of knowledge..

This simple line alone cast us THE VALUE OF KNOWLEDGE IN ITSELF....

Entitlement is already a big problem and the moment we begin to cultivate it in the quest for knowledge, we might just exist without leaving a mark or even thriving.

This is exactly were the problem in our society lies, cause as far as I know learning never ends and so when one thinks he as arrived and so know it all is the funniest thing people do this days. cause I say so because times evolve and so old things ways and pattern are all gone, there is a need to constantly seek knowledge and go after it.

Thanks for this indepth revelation

This is true, thanks for your comment. We're not designed to stop learning, because the universe, ourselves, our nature and society is a mystery we must unravel if we must break bounds, this alone proves that we're not supposed to stop learning

I think I heard a similar story somewhere in 2021 where a fisherman caught a blue marlin fish which was worth $2.6million and ate the fish with his village. I can’t imagine how stupid and cursed they must’ve felt when they realized how much that catch could’ve changed their lives if they were just informed enough. That they did themselves and their entire bloodline a great injustice the minute they got the brilliant idea to put the fish on fire.
