The Indispensability Of Social Media To The Social-Cultural & Economic Lifestyle Of People

Some days ago, I think it was WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook that blacked out and basically this further emphasizes the fact that a selected percentage of people indeed controls the world. Let's take a look at the cultural aspect, over the years social media have had some definitive impact on the social-cultural behavior of people.

For example in Nigeria, it's very easy to pick up on the exotic fashion taste of other people living in the farthest places of the world and this is simply because of social media. So many fashion icons for example in my area have been able to blend their exotic exposure with African fabrics in other to produce a hybrid of magnificence, and you'll see them mostly strapped to Instagram subscribed to big accounts, following their trends and using it to increase their abilities to further expand their wild range of knowledge.

The truth is, the world have innovative people and these people are willing to put their resources on the line to take advantage of the needs, wants and essentials of man, to make themselves wealthy and of course, undisputed owners of the world, through how they determine, impact, direct and influence the social, economic and financial actions of people. Truth is, Zuckerberg is a visionary, no doubt.

This is because he understands that the Social needs of people extends beyond geographical limitations, from important things, to how people tend to value even the most mundane and trivial things. One thing I have come to realize is that understanding the need of people is profitable, predicting how technology might impact or become indispensable to people's lives in general is how some of the smartest people in the world inadvertently control the world. When you control the money, other things generally follows.

In the past, social media majorly catered for the social need of people, it's however eaten more deeply into other needs in recent times. So many people look to it for relationship, finance, economic, fashion, trend and lifestyle. In Nigeria, for example, network providers have exploited the Inevitability of people's need to be on social media. Notice how I emphasized on need?

This is because being on these mediums have become more than necessary.
These network provider's marketing skills on how people buy internet subscription is top-notch, because mostly people buy without checking if they're being cheated or not and hence they take advantage of the human neediness and hastiness to be on the internet, to continually make their billions. It's another major way of control, it's like selling drugs at the highest price simply because the people who need them will do anything in their means to purchase it.

It's however scary, despite the fact that we know some of these things, it's become more of a necessary evil to how life, change and technology has become more impactful. Covid-19 for example might have been engineered to make some specific people wealthy, even if it sounds like propaganda, some of the most powerful people are actually profiting off these supposed propaganda to make more money.

Take a look at how the impact of the pandemic, hastened the futuristic Inevitability of e-commerce and online shopping. Meanwhile, people like Jeff Bezos has seen through this and due to this trend in change, it seems like the world will continue rewarding people who are visionaries and continue to predict certain and definitive technologies that will become indispensable to the human race.

In Nigeria, social media is huge. Most Nigerian content creators built and accrued their wealth through Facebook and Instagram, imagine how these people would have felt when that outage happened some days ago. Of course losing close to six billion in probably 5 hours of outage, in fact should Facebook shut down, let's say due to the apocalypse or something, would you doubt that Zuckerberg has other multiple streams of income that would still keep him as one of the world's wealthiest people? I'm definitely sure you wouldn't bet against.

This is because these people are constantly working the clock, looking for how to further take advantage of the needs of people. Imagine the people who would go into debt, lose relevance, lose their means of livelihood if Facebook shuts down. Is this degree of control even healthy? Absolutely not. But this is the reward of being smart, futuristic and intelligent. In the future, intelligent people would become like aristocrats, taking advantage of less intelligent people to build themselves endless empires and endless reach of control.

Social media has become a controlling factor in our daily lives, I remember how confused I was when it went off on Monday and for the first time, I started calling people instead of texting 😆

Monday just shows how much control certain people have in the world and it is scaring thinking about what they could do if they wanted.

Like you said, it's actually very scary but then, the fact that people are getting by in their daily activities and daily lives, getting to achieve their aims and dreams and all, I'm sure they wouldn't mind the massive control these people have over them.

They would mind if it becomes more than it is.

Well I think the Facebook shutdown has proven that centralizing a lot of the public space in one company definitely didn't work. I think they could of definitely made the applications less prone to failure.
