The Unrealistic ROI behind Undue Expectations & Entitlement

Undue Expectations and Entitlement are some of the biggest problems in life and it becomes worse when it's not even deserved

20220917_052737_0000.png

I mean before people feel entitled, there's always the idea that they've done something right to qualify for something positively proportional. I mean, throwing money into a Ponzi scheme and expecting double or triple rewards is normal and this is because the idea behind a Ponzi is that there's always more money with unrealistic ROI to share. Now it's quite different when some other people threads carefully, putting in money they can only afford to lose while expecting the Ponzi to crash but hoping it wouldn't.

A lot of people have been hurt by the sudden crash of many projects that rugpulled

But originally, why does someone take a hype project seriously?

taking all their savings and buying it, hoping they'll get money in two weeks to build three houses and buy four Ferrari? I mean it's common sense that a hype coin is expected to crash, get rug pulled, or even cease to exist. I mean the idea of putting in one's life savings and expecting the project to do better is sheer entitlement and undue expectations. This means some people want to reap even off negative actions, bad calls, wrong choices, or even in places where they haven't put any effort. This is quite evident in a system where the laws aren't functioning.

The Wrong Attitude: Huge Expectations

For example, some government workers have a wrong attitude to work, they're on the job but they treated the job as shit, failing to deliver the value they're employed to offer but they expect that their salaries should be increased quarterly, while bonuses should be paid them even if they're not doing the job. They defend themselves with the idea that government work shouldn't be taken seriously and that the job is tiresome hence the bad attitude to work. However, it's crazy when people fail to put in effort but expects the input to be massive. I live in a country where constituted authorities want you to bribe them to do their jobs. I remembered the school I attended, the officers in so many parastatals are always asking you to tip them else they wouldn't do their job.

Some of them feel that you're on the outside, hence you're expected to be rich and why wouldn't you give them part of this money? The police want you to bribe them, the customs officers, and the officers at the airport want you to give them money before they can be nice to you, making it seem like, paying people to do the jobs they're already paid to do. But what do I know? Some people are obsessed with ROI and unrealistic ways to make money where no expectations are required of them. This means for almost nothing, people want to get much. While it might be natural that we want our efforts to be multiplied when it comes to results, it's uncommon and crazy to expect maximum yields from almost no effort.

Wen Causality?

The Entitlement level of some people is crazy, sometimes we don't attach causality to some of the most basic things of life, we don't think smart work or hard work is proportional to success anymore, and we have more people who are vested in the possibilities they might get lucky and win so big that they don't have to work in their lives anymore. This sentiment is shared by people who think they have the natural embodiments and hence good things should automatically happen to them. I have been in situations where female colleagues expect me to pay their dues because they feel they're the feminine gender and deserve their bills being paid for them. I've known women who rely on their beauty to get jobs or cut corners.

The Concept Of "Give & Take"

This is even fair, I know some women who think they don't deserve to work because they're beautiful, and thus they automatically deserve a man that's rich and willing to afford their excesses. This is why some people don't think they need to embody any sort of external value because they feel they are the "value" I come from a family where no one wants to be responsible for you, but they want you to be responsible to them. They feel you're fortunate if you can afford to feed and pay rent and hence you should be able to foot some of their bills. It all stems from the mentality of society. Some people don't understand the fundamentals of "give and take" originally, we're meant to give off value in other to receive value in another form we choose. Because we're humans, sometimes we mostly change this narrative which isn't bad.

But what makes it bad?

For example, giving to the less privileged is an act of kindness that doesn't work with the principle of causality. I had this person I'd always pay part of his fees in school, clothing, feeding, and all.
But I did this not because he eschewed a value that needed to be rewarded, but because it was an act of kindness to someone in need. It got to a time, he became entitled to this goodwill and I had to remind him that it was an act of kindness and not because he deserved it. Some human mentalities are messed up, this is why we need the right enforcement to act as a sort of reminder. (This is getting too long, expect a part two soon)

Many people want a short cut , easy way of hitting the big cash to access life so easily and that's what lead them to investing in ponzi scheme. Well, from my experience the first set of people to begin always get a bit lucky while the rest will have their high expectations dashed out! Leaving them heart broken 💔...it's high time people should know that some things are just unrealistic

I live in a country where constituted authorities want you to bribe them to do their jobs

This is so common in Lagos state. I have encountered a lot of them even in the hospital. The other day, the woman in charge of hospital cards, boldly seized my card until I find something for her. Like is it by force? Aren't you being paid for this job? Honestly it's tiring here!

About entitlement, one thing about we human beings is this feeling of, it's now a tradition or it's my right... misuse of opportunity..and it makes a giver to change his or her mind so easily.

I think it's worse in hospitals universities and even in police stations, majorly in places where there are government or public parastatals. The truth is, the craze to do unlawful things in some public sectors because of money is too much. This is where that mentality stems from. In reality we have come to see it as a normal thing. It's abnormal and shouldn't be a thing. We're talking about having the right attitude to work, rather we have people who are just entitled to their salaries and hates the job they're generally doing.

But originally, why does someone take a hype project seriously?

Greed and lack of financial education.

When someone has knowledge and fills his thought with appropriate financial knowledge, he wouldn't fall for trash.

taking all their savings and buying it, hoping they'll get money in two weeks to build three houses and buy four Ferrari?

I just love how the line sounds in my head..

They defend themselves with the idea that government work shouldn't be taken seriously and that the job is tiresome hence the bad attitude to work.

Well, I might not agree with you on this tho. The reason why people don't take government work seriously is because the government does not take them seriously.
For example, how much is a police paid in Nigeria? And you don't expect him to obtain people on the road.
Or let's be more real, how much is a teacher paid in Nigeria?
If the government were paying well, they would monitor their workers because they feel they have paid them well and so they should work.

I live in a country where constituted authorities want you to bribe them to do their jobs

This is annoying but if you want to get the job done, you need to pay. The truth is those who ask for bribe in Nigeria are really underpaid. But the question is, is there anyone that is not underpaid?

I've known women who rely on their beauty to get jobs or cut corners.

I think a lot of women do this but the thing I don't get is if they do not know that they have to put in the work.

My friend went for an interview all looking fine but did not read and was expected to be handed over a job.

I didn't know how to tell her that it was expected tho.

I think my comment is getting too long. I might as well stop here

This is actually very true, but you mentioned that almost everyone in Nigeria is underpaid. We overpay for goods and services but then, we receive even lesser for our efforts. Nevertheless I think government and their irresponsibility it feels like the knack to be irresponsible Comes fron top down. At the end of the day, I think the two parties can do better.

I didn't know how to tell her that it was expected tho.

You can bring her to hive, let her know the true hustle and how it's quite different from the typical Nigeria.

When someone has knowledge and fills his thought with appropriate financial knowledge, he wouldn't fall for trash.

This is absolutely true as well. I like to think this itself stems from the urge to be conscious on the salient issues of life and not a lot of people wants to do that. It's atypical of a lot of people to want to be financially educated. They just want to exist.

Thanks for all the brilliant input, I appreciate

I totally agree that both parties can do better. People should not be influenced by external factors. They should try to abide by principles. However, that's not the case.

We hope for a better system, I think we have a long way to go, but then surprisingly somewhere like Hive has taught me a lot down the years.

There are too many people who want short-term gain and their own greed for profits. In a way, I think it's naive because the bigger the returns, the more unlikely it is for it to be real. Of course, there are some legit projects but it depends on people doing their own research.

because the bigger the returns, the more unlikely it is for it to be real.

This is true. However I think this format of selling scam is now so rampant as I think no one should fall for this anymore. Whenever I see outrageous or unlikely returns it's a no-brainer to understand that it's a huge scam.

In Nigeria for instance our society is designed in a way that most people around us should feel entitled to. I once had a friend that was angry with me because I couldn't give him money to start up a business because he realize I have 100k in my account. Family members, girlfriends, and even churches feel entitled.

Maybe is because of the situation of the country but I believe we must have a way to stop this and do what is right

Most people who are entitled don't want others to be entitled to them as well. And as for that your friend, was 100k going to start a business for him? Did he check the financial situation you were in? I think people don't understand the plight of others. It's a very terrible situation because it's just not good enough. Entitlement concept is crazy.

This is greed speaking on their heads. Greed sometimes cloud our mind that we fail to logically analyze our positions.

paying people to do the jobs they're already paid to do

I remember a friend of mine voicing his disappointment with the greediness of a government official. There was this project he was bidding and according to his analysis, he is sure that he's not gonna win the bid. Funny thing is, one of the approving officer is asking him for money even though he knows that they will not chose him. 😁

I've known women who rely on their beauty to get jobs or cut corners.

I am not generalizing them, but there are just women who thought they have the privilege because of their looks.

My goodness, I'm sorry I totally missed this comment.

This is greed speaking on their heads. Greed sometimes cloud our mind that we fail to logically analyze our positions..

You're absolutely right. But some people have these pipe dreams even if it's not real, it's driven by greed but sometimes they feel it's not and it's not bad to have them.

I remember a friend of mine voicing his disappointment with the greediness of a government official

It feels like this is even common when it comes to government jobs and most of the times, irrespective of any government, their workers are always showing this sort of complacency towards work.

I am not generalizing them, but there are just women who thought they have the privilege because of their looks.

And the truth is they have.. I've made a resolution that I won't do this..

I read the entire post in your voice, like I was watching you vlog. Strange, but interesting. Especially considering I haven’t seen your vlogs for a week now. Should probably go check em out.

As for ponzi schemes, for as long as men live, their get-rich-quick desire will always lead them in the direction of ponzis or things of the sort. Ponzis give you the delusion of an easy way out-exactly what everyone is looking for. At least everyone financially naive of course.

I can relate to coming from a family like your own, not exactly the same situation, but similar. My family raises you to raise your siblings, so you’re already a parent to your younger siblings, long before you have kids of your own.

I know some women who think they don't deserve to work because they're beautiful, and thus they automatically deserve a man that's rich and willing to afford their excesses.

Lol I feel like your advice to not get involved with love or relationships after you’re already rich has a little something to do with this right here.

I haven't been making videos and the only one I've made was uploaded yesterday. It was the first time I'm uploading a video in almost a week or more. At the end of the day I think schemes like Ponzi will always be a thing. Because human beings with eternally seek ways to become rich without doing too much.

As for your family. I guess it's an African thing, I don't know but I guess it is. Because I know of cultures where this thrives.

Lol I feel like your advice to not get involved with love or relationships after you’re already rich has a little something to do with this right here.

It's the best thing one can do for themselves because it's truly important. These days it's hard to spot originality when it comes to love. That's why it must be unencumbered.
