I just finished the third part my Time, Priority & Money: In Retrospect series and it was totally eye-opening and got a lot of engagements. Economic prowess or the ability to run financial activities quite fluently in terms of managing one's finances is what you get used to doing better with experiences.

In my just concluded series I use to make a lot of emphasis on time and this is because time is ubiquitous in almost all ramifications of life and in the aspect of engaging with activities that can empower us financially it's important to see create an equation where we see money as equally important as time. Truth is, financial opportunities depends on the time or the availability of a person.

In most African countries for example, time is very essential especially to companies that wants to make all the money in the world at the expense of their workers. They feel that they're not being unjust, but just wants their workers to truly deserve what they earn. But the question is... Do these companies themselves deserve what they're earning? The answer is no.

Unemployment is the cause of job exploitation. For most of these multimillion naira business to truly flourish, they need to play dirty, because being fair means they get to pay people fairly for their time and of course build the dreams of people to while building their at the same time.

Time is how you get to build. One of the fears of entrepreneurship is that people are scared of putting in so much time, with very little resources, competing with the very best. Prospective entrepreneurs often weigh the risk, measure it with the time taken and the resources and this why they eventually chicken, choosing the comfort of putting all their effort in the business of someone else and earning stipends.

No one wants to waste time, but people don't truly understands what it means to actually waste time. I know a friend who became a brand influencer by writing free ad copy for this brand and advertising them freely in his Twitter account. When I asked him why he chose to work freely, he told me he was using the time to perfect his skills as a professional SEO writer.

Now, this is where you see utility as a characteristic of time that we should reckon with. This guy was honing his skills and at the same time learning the ropes of brand influencing and the potentials of being employed at the end of the day. Truth is, he ended up being employed by that brand, got the skills to be wanted in the process and of course landed the gigs of other brands in the same tech category.

This is utility. In all sincerity, time is the greatest gift and there's a lot of difference between people who put it into good use and people who don't. To Me, failure is not just an experience, it's feedback telling you to do things differently. When people fail, they believe their time has been wasted, but this isn't true. Money or success as an end game isn't what always proves that time have been spent well, although this is what it is, but not always what it is.

The only time that time is wasted is when it is misplaced. It's important to understand that having time itself is as valuable as money, this is why I don't see unemployment as inefficacy. It is only a time when you realize; a Eureka moment for a person willing to do things rather differently.

Living in ignorance is wastage of time; choosing to take no lessons from an unfruitful venture is where time is truly wasted. Truth is, we don't need to be in one place and be deprived the opportunity of being somewhere else, the world is becoming a chain of network of like-minded people segmented and compartmentalized. This is why I believe that digitalization adding ubiquitousness to one of the features of time. (In my next post, I'll be exploring more on this).

Well said man. I see a lot of my friends "selling" so much of their time for jobs they hate. It really makes me think more about m relationship with time.

Being conscious of this alone makes us hate the possibility of participating in wastage of time. Time is as valuable as money itself. Thanks for dropping by sir

Focused attention, the ability to learn and steadfast behaviors are surely what your friend exemplified.

You're right, it was expamplary. Putting time into good use makes you wonder if every time spent" is always productive to a particular cause.

Some Buddhists align with the just do side of things. But just try not to cause suffering.

I resonate with that. I cause suffering to others without even knowing it so sometimes can be difficult to avoid.

But ultimately, I think if you are causing suffering along the way than time spent is is not productive.

Of course you can't, we all cannot do that. We just control the one we can and leave the rest.
