Garden Update - Bird Eggs on the Nest

(Edited)
I started it on September 3 because the weather was a bit cold. I leveled the ground first and removed some rocks. I also removed the dry weeds and crushed and buried them in the ground to make fertilizer. Until now I am still thinking about what I will plant according to the weather today. I also consider what I should plant according to the size of my area.

I plan to plant creeping vegetables like Bitter Gourd, Squash, Sweet Potato, Chayote, and String Beans. I just need to fix the arches first before everything else.

Every day when I come home I tidy up my little garden after I eat dinner. Gradually about 30 minutes is enough every day or 45 minutes including watering some remaining plants.

As I was cleaning and tidying up my vegetable garden I noticed that there were dry grasses on top of the green arbor. I would have removed it when I noticed that inside the dried leaf were two bird eggs! So far, I have been prevented from removing and moving the fence where the bird’s egg is. I'll just fix maybe the other plants and soil first and then the fence where the bird is.

This bird is very resistant to heat! It really doesn’t leave even in the middle of the heat just to protect her eggs. But in the morning she leaves to get something to eat. And when she left, I fixed the nest and added some dry grass to make the egg safe.

What worries me is, the black cat is always on the lookout in the nest! But I know he can't reach it. Maybe when the eggs hatch, I'll just move them and maybe I'll take care of the birds until they grow up.

This is the update of my Watermelon plant. I don't know if it will bear fruit or if it will live or grow? So far, I can see that the plant is healthy and I can only see one fruit. My melon is already big and has flowers and fruits but the fruit has not yet grown, most of them have died.

008.jpg

This is my new Chayote plant. I also don’t know how far it will live? But from what I can see, it is starting to grow and take root a lot. Hopefully, it will survive now that winter is starting.

009.jpg

This Chayote is also one of the creeping plants and one of my favorite vegetables. I think he will survive? I just need to take care of the watering and maybe need to cultivate the soil once in a while.

That’s first for now and there are many more next updates in my little garden. If I just have enough time for everything I will always write about my little garden with my family.

Your garden is coming up nicely and that's a really kind thing about the bird. The best thing you can for the bird is to just leave the nest untouched, not even adding any grass to it. Many people think they are doing animals favour by building shelters for them but the best favour you can do for them is to let them be free naturally to do whatever they like.

What a pleasant surprise you have found! And it's good that you let them live, have their young and then leave the nest. I was going to prune the trunk of a banana plant that we already harvested the bunch, and we noticed that there is a bird nesting on the top of that plant, so we postponed that cutting. I hope this season your crops grow healthy and strong. Good harvests to you @kennyroy!
