An Eventful and Satisfying Weekend

My weekends for the past three months has consisted of a few routines which were going to work, doing chores, and trying to get some rest but I realized how much of the world I was missing and how bored it was becoming so I had decided last week to try to do more things that would at least make me happier but the thing with living in a small town is that there aren’t many things to do here and working on Saturdays has made finding even the little things to do even harder but after going to a club last week for the first time, I really didn’t want to be cooped up after work this weekend.

My weekend started with work as usual and I spent most of the hours at work checking my watch because I hated the idea of working weekends but I had no choice for now.

The moment work closed, I rushed to a family friend’s place to watch some football, my team was playing and I had high hopes of us winning, which we didn’t and it made me really sad but I had to move past it because I couldn’t do anything about it.

At about 5 pm that Saturday, I got a call from my partner saying he was back in town, we have been on the brink of a breakup so we needed to discuss what was going to happen next and I had to meet up with him, we had our talk and I went home.

My Sundays usually consist of going to church and after church, I went over to my sisters, ate some jollof rice and I had to meet up with a friend who had just come back from Cyprus to Nigeria.

I got to her place and as usual, her dogs welcomed me with barks and I almost ran away cause I am pretty scared of dogs but her cat was amazing and it made me consider getting one.

We spent hours playing Uno and Jenga and well in my defense, it was my first time playing both games so she whooped my ass but it was still the highlight of my weekend.

We ended the night by taking a shot of Remy Martin VSOP which her mother offered us but we ended up both hating it and swore never to try it again.

Getting home I felt very satisfied because since I started my new job I had barely had time to actually be young and just enjoy the company of others and I had actually enjoyed this weekend just like the last and I do hope subsequently I can keep enjoying my weekends.

I realized that I have been saying no to too many things and I needed to learn how to say yes and try new things.
