Intro

Intro

The current Brawl is almost over again, but due to a business trip I didn't get to it before.

Have fun reading.

Starke Konkurrenz

Strong competition

Once again the last Brawl was against Summoners Tribe. In addition to the Legendary Wyverns, RKO Outta Nowhere and some KOG guilds were also competing.

In this setup, anything between 2nd and 5th place was possible.

While ST always holds back a bit in the Brawl and only enters the games towards the end, RKO had started directly and did so very strongly.

The same was true for the Wyverns, while we Raptors delivered little that counted, especially at the beginning.

However, this changed on day 2 of the Brawl, and for a while we even led the field, even though it was clear that ST would overtake us later.

In the end it was just enough for 3rd place behind the Wyverns, who got their revenge for the last Brawls.

The screenshot shows how close it was between 2nd and 5th place. Unfortunately also how big the gap to ST still is.

Nevertheless a stable performance of the two Legendary Dragon Wings.

25+1 Mana - Wands Out & Heavy Hitters & Tis but scratches - Earth / Death / Dragon

Wands out schreit nach Immortalis.

Wands out screams Immortalis. Together with Goblin Psychic and Elven Mystic, the opponent shouldn't do any magic damage.

If my opponent uses a similar tactic, I'll go for Quora and her melee damage.

Tis but Scratches does reduce the healing abilities of Quora and the Psychic, but I still consider it a good combination.

My opponent @triss77 from Outta Nowhere goes for Obsidian and also Quora. Behind that, however, another Khmer Princess and a Dr. Blight.

The plan works so far that my opponents actually can't do any magic damage. Unfortunately, Cripple triggers anyway and I lose a life with each attack.

In addition, Blight manages to poison my Quora right in the first turn. This hit was crucial to win the game, because my Quora was not able to take the enemy one off the field. My opponent then had an easy game with my remaining monsters.

What a start.

56+1 Mana - Explosive Weaponary & Melee Mayhem & Close Range - Water / Life / Death / Dragon

I'm playing against @schizofred from Archmage Arius Disciples. 56 mana and Blast and Melee Mayhem allow for one of my favorite setups.

Besides Kitty as Summoner, I use Desert Dragon as Tank, behind which Carnage Titan strikes.

To split the enemy damage a bit I put Agor Longtail on positon #6 and in front of it Oshuur Constantia because of her Reflection Shield. Tank Heal and Resurrect I like to take as well, of course.

The Truthspeaker at #3 provides Protect and especially Cleanse for the Desert Dragon. Jared Scar rounds out the lineup at #4.

My opponent goes for Kelya with Wavebrood as Taunt Tank and behind him Water Caller with Reflection Shield and Stun.

The new reward card Coastal Sentry on #3 for some damage potential. Behind it Relanor Runemancer Kye (Level 1) and Sea Stalker.

The opposing team is unable to deal enough damage to seriously trouble Agor. At the same time, Wavebrood is killed midway through the first turn and Water Caller doesn't fare much better.

Blast in combination with Pierce and Trample goes through the enemy ranks like butter.

22+1 Mana - Up Close & Personal / What doesnt kill You / Back to Basics - Water / Earth / Death / Dragon

Plan komplett aufgegangen.

With only melee and little mana, I go for Mylor. Especially with Back to Basics this is even better, because no abilities are available for the monsters.

So I try to get as many health points per mana on the field as possible and come to the following lineup:

As a tank I use Hill Giant, behind it the Lichen Beast. If I would have had more choice of 1 mana monsters, I would have used the Mycelic Morphoid and another 1 mana monster. So it became the Venator on #3.

Behind it Quora and last but not least the Fungus Fiend.

@luffyland1893 from the Legendary Wyverns uses Astral Entity and as a tank the Phantasm. With a speed of 6 and Dodge, it should be difficult to hit it.

Behind it a Corpse Fiend, Cursed Slimeball, Undead Badger and Tatiana Blade.

I'm not sure if my opponent had seen that Back to Basics ruled. I can't really explain the Undead Badger any other way.

The Phantasm was actually a good idea as a tank, since it already got a speed of 9 after the first damage, making it hard to hit.

Luckily there are Thorns and the magic damage of my Quora. So the Phantasm goes off the field early in the second turn. It is revived, but also immediately struck down again.

The Fiend and the Slimeball finish themselves off on my Thorns. Quora takes care of the weakened Badger.

Tatiana manages to take the Lichen Beast off the field at the end, but has to admit defeat shortly after.

The plan was a complete success.

Match 4 Sieg / Win

40+1 Mana - Equalizer & Armored Up & Odd ones out - Fire / Water / Earth / Death / Dragon

With Equalizer in the mid-mana range, Yodin is usually a good choice. Grum as a tank gives the opponent a lot of health, but at the same time he is well protected from magic damage, has Giant Killer and of course Bloodlust.

As protection against an enemy Blast I have Ash Mirage on #2 which at the same time reduces the enemy ranged damage.

Usually I don't like to play Snipe in Equalizer matches to avoid spreading the damage. However, with Yodin it is different. If the opponent plays with Reflection Shield on the #2, the damage can be put into the rows behind it or even exactly on the Reflection Shield if he also uses an Ash Mirage.

This way the Serpentine Spy on #3 should also find "soft targets" behind the enemy tank. The Tortisian Chief should keep Grum and his back up alive as long as possible.

@redxvipers from [KOG] Guardians of Glory trusts Possibilus with Cruel Sethropod as a tank. DAhionter actually a monster with Reflection Shield namely Tide Biter. Unfortunately no Water Caller. That would have pleased my Sniper.

On #3 Venari Wavesmith followed by Isgald, Axemaster and finally Runemancer Kye. Grum seems to have been a good choice.

Possibilus' reach ability is not used. The two life points are ok, but not that important at 14 points for all monsters. At most the Trample could be useful for the Sethropod, Tide Biter, or possibly Isgald. Possibilus has been rather not a good choice in the setup from my point of view.

Still, the first few turns don't really look good for me. My damage is split between the Sethropod and the Venari Wavesmith. At the same time, my opponent focuses his damage on my Grum and is soon able to remove it from the field.

At the beginning of turn 3, my opponent still has all monsters on the field. This changes rapidly from then on. Still in turn 3 the Sethropot and the Wavesmith die. Isgald, who is now clearly battered, takes my Ash Mirage from the field, and tramples exactly once. At the beginning of turn 5, however, he is also history.

When the Axemaster also dies on turn 5 and my Chief constantly heals my Spy, the game is decided.

14+1 Mana - Super Sneak & Odd ones Out & Reverse Speed - Fire / Water / Earth

Little mana and Super Sneak is again a case for Mylor.

Again I try to get as many life points on the field as possible. Additionally, I expect some attacks on my last position and set up the Venari Marksrat here with the new Martyr ability.

The plan is clear. If the opponent sneaks, he will kill the Martyr and thus strengthen both Grenadier #2 and Dr. Blight #4.

My opponent @walruid from Team Possible Hackers unfortunately doesn't do me the favor and only sets up one monster- the Forgotten One.

Why he combines it with Conquerer Jacek, only he knows. I assume he overlooked Reverse Speed. The Forgotten One already has Pierce at level 5 anyway.
Even Tarsa would have been a clearly better alternative here.

Supported by Mylor's Thorns, my team makes short work of the Forgotten One.

13+1 Mana - Earthquakte & Unprotected & What doesnt kill You - Water / Earth / Life / Death

Brighton Bloom would be nice, but Dragon is not available. So Lorna it is.

Pelacor Conjurer is used as a flying tank. Other flying support is the Celestial Harpy and Tower Griffin. The only landlubber is the Stitch Leech, which hopefully steals enough health via Life Leech to survive.

Yes the Tower Griffin was a bad choice. I overlooked "unprotected."

Kelya is the summoner of choice for @supersonic96 from [KOG] No Guts no Glory.

Plus an albatross at #1. Additionally Hardy Stonefish, Dr. Blight, Ice Pixies, and Igor.

The combination of Divine Shield, Magic Reflect and Sneak / Opportunity is clearly superior to the opponent's setup.

Especially in Unprotected, Kelya is not the best choice, but what to do when no Untamed or Dice Summoner are available.

36+1 Mana - Going the Distance & Unprotected & Ferocity - Water / Earth / Death / Dragon

I didn't rent a Lir, since I didn't use it the last few Brawls. Mimosa served me well a time or two, so I chose her.

Death gives me the opportunity to use my Queen of Crows, which not only has Close Range, but also Headwinds and Slow. Combined with the -1 to ranged damage from Mimosa, this is pretty strong.

My plan is to attack first through additional speed from Supply Runner and Lira.

I don't really count on Sneak and position my Soul Strangler at #6 with 4 damage for 3 mana and low health.

Damon sits on #3 protected by a Xenith Archer on #2.

Of course @queen-silvia from Summoners Tribe has a Lir and makes me look old.

The setup itself is not really the problem. Especially with the reduced damage, I could have countered well.

But the Return Fire ability on all enemy monsters in combo with additional armor and blind is just unbeatable in this setup.

I do take all the opposing monsters off the field except for Edith, but in the end the Fatigue damage decides the game.

Very close and congratulations to @queen-silvia.

Letzte Worte

Dein Kheldar1982

Last words

Once again, we managed to secure a place on the podium in Tier 4.

It's not quite enough for the top 10 at the moment, but I would place us somewhere around 15th place in Brawl performance.

Of course we are not satisfied with that and want to improve constantly.

If you are interested in supporting us, please contact us. We are looking for players for the Diamond Frays (Modern, Wild, Gold and Alpha Beta).

But even with a Gold or Silver deck you can contact @vasupi and me, and we will see if there is a place for you with us or another wing of the Legendary Dragons. More important than the deck is the attitude and the will to constantly develop yourself and your deck.

Knowledge of German would be an advantage, because the communication on Discord is almost completely in German.

A separate recruitment post with the advantages of a membership in the Legendary Raptors will follow in March. But the most important thing can be summarized like this.

We are a bunch of Splinterland players who are ambitious, but for whom the fun of the game is at least as important.

If you feel the same way, please contact us via comment on this article or in Discord.

Many greetings

Your Kheldar1982
