DEFENSE > OFFENSE - SPLINTERLANDS BRAWL REPORT

avatar

Hi guys. We just had our GUILD BRAWLS with my guild BOOTY LICKERS and it was competitive, my matches were close and I lost some of my matches that we will be reviewing so that can improve our gameplay which I will be explaining my thoughts and strategy on my games and how can I improve them.

BATTLES

GAME 1 - Lost

In this particular match, I liked my lineup; I believe it is a solid lineup with excellent physical and magical defense and OK offensive prowess. However, the enemy went for a defensive lineup with CAPTAIN KATIE as the primary damage dealer, and I was unable to break the enemy's defense, giving her CAPTAIN KATIE more time to finish off most of my frontline monsters.

  • What could I have done differently?
I could have replaced my VENARI WAVESMITH with a MERDAALI GUARDIAN with the TANK HEAL ability because healing is better in this situation and my summoner already provides the armor buff that VENARI WAVESMITH has.

GAME 2

The second match was an exhibition match between our GLADIUS CARDS, my QUORA vs his KATRELBA GOBSON, in which the opponent has a higher damage output while I have a better defense, and this game demonstrated that defense wins against offense, as it did in the first game.

GAME 3

This time, I chose a strategy similar to the enemy's in my second match, selecting MYLOR CROWLING as my summoner and KATRELBA GOBSON as my Gladius Card, along with two more SNEAK monsters, as well as two tanks and a single support to buy time. My frontline defense, which include UNICORN MUSTANG VOID and WOOD NYMPH TANK HEAL abilities, was able to keep the enemy damage dealers at bay long enough for my SNEAK monsters to win the game.

GAME 4 - My Magic Lineup vs his Range.

My strategy was to focus on my offense and defense with magic, choosing tanks that counter magic damage and choosing 4 magic damage and mixing it up with a range damage dealer but the enemy went for a YODIN and 5 range damage dealing monsters and my lineup melted because I didn't have any defense against the BLAST damage and physical damage from his monsters.

  • What could I have done better?
The best option would be to switch my summoner from KELYA to LIR DEEPSWIMMER, which is a natural counter to YODIN, and swap my BAAKJIRA to LOBSTRADAMUS for physical defense, which would give me a better chance of beating the enemy's powerful lineup.

GAME 5

Whenever I'm playing a low mana cap game, I always try to get QUORA in my lineup and pair her with either a tank or support, and it usually works. As demonstrated in this match, even though the opponent has a GARGOYA LION with the FLYING ability, which negates the damage from the EARTHQUAKE ruleset, I still have an advantage due to the power of QUORA.

GAME 6

In this game, my strategy was to choose two tanks and place them in the first and last positions, as well as three supports, to buy time for my QUORA to dominate the match. The enemy had a strong lineup that countered both magic and physical damage, my SNEAK monsters dealt no damage, and my magic damage monster took damage every round due to his tank's ability MAGIC REFLECT, but I still won the game thanks to the powerful QUORA.

GAME 7

The final game was anti-climactic. The ruleset has a UP CLOSE & PERSONAL ruleset, and I chose the best summoner in this match, MYLOR CROWLING, and two monsters with two offensive capabilities, as well as other monsters with high damage & defense. The opponent's monsters killed themselves with the THORNS while taking damage from my monsters, and the match ended in the fourth round.

AFTERWORDS

The games were challenging, and in my first match, I learned a new strategy of increasing my tank's HP with your summoner or monsters' STRENGTHEN ability and supporting them with a TANK HEAL monster, which increases the HP getting healed and that makes a great defense.
