Our other gold coins

Our family lives in Central Europe, in the Czech Republic. I think everyone prefers to collect coins from where they live.

Until 1918, my country was part of Austria-Hungary. So most of the coins here at home come from this state and from this time.

Ducat, 1915, diameter 20 mm, weight 3.491 g, purity 986/1000

This coin was minted between 1852-1915 in various types. It is a trading coin.

4 guldens (10 Francs), 1892, diameter 19 mm, weight 3.226 g, purity 900/1000

This coin was minted between 1870-1892 in various types. This was common currency. Therefore, a lower purity of gold, so that it does not rub off. There was also a Hungarian version of the coat of arms. But we don't have it here at home.

20 crowns, 1894, diameter 21 mm, weight 6.775 g, purity 900/1000

This coin was minted between 1892-1916 in various types. Of course, there was also a Hungarian version.

10 crowns, 1893, diameter 19 mm, weight 3.387 g, purity 900/1000. Now, for a change, I'm showing the Hungarian version of the coin. I took a pretty bad picture of her. But I don't want to redo it anymore...

These coins are not in the ounce system. They weigh about a tenth and have a lower purity. More people here know them than foreign coins. And it's probably easier to have smaller coins when needed.

Finally, two questions.
1.Do you also mainly collect coins of your own country?
2.Do you prefer ounce coins or smaller coins in gold?

Thank you.

That's a cool Austrian coin, very small and affordable to pick up! Fractionals are easier to sell so always a good thing to have around, not everyone will have cash to buy an ounce.

Smaller gold coins are easier to afford.
