New week, new challenge! This time it's all about the Carrion Shade!

Carrion Shade

This week we have the Carrion Shade as our guest. This fearsome bird from the realm of death only costs 1 mana, so it's probably taken quite often just as a meat shield. I myself don't play the Death Splinter that often, so I haven't used the Carrion Shade that much. In my battle the bird came along as a blocker. In my opinion, the bird fulfills this task quite well. On Lvl 3 he would have the additional ability "Flying". This makes the whole thing really interesting. Much more often I play the Water Splinter. Here you have the Albatros. You can compare it quite well with the Carrion Shade. Here the Albatross performs a bit better, because it already has the ability "Fly" on Lvl 1 and thus provides even more misses.

Splinterlands Lore

A carrion shade is a dark-winged bird that feeds off the dead bodies of animals and people. They often flock to battlefields and dangerous parts of the wilderness where there are sure to be corpses. They travel in small groups and have no natural predators. Most people fear the carrion shades, though. For to see a group following you is to know your life is in danger. Tales whispered by the elder wise women claim that if you see a single carrion shade perched outside your home, then someone you love will die that night.

My Line-Up

I only had a 25 mana cost for this battle. So you can't take many monsters with you. I have often seen a certain tactic used by my opponents with these lower mana costs. And that is the use of the Death Splinter together with a Dragon Summoner. I've lost to this tactic a time or two, so I decided to give it a try.

Summoner: Drake of Arnak

As summoner I chose the Drake of Arnak. This one can defend against a physical attack with his +1 shield for the time being.

Position 1: Cursed Windeku

In the first position and as a tank I used the Cursed Windeku. I find this card especially strong because of the thorns. Also, this monster has 9 life, so it can take a beating.

Position 2: Carrion Shade

At position 2 I chose the monster of the hour: Carrion Shade. Together with the Shield, the bird can swallow two or even 3 melee attacks. If the Cursed Windeku should die too fast, the Carrion Shade moves up and can tank even more. As described above, I haven't found another use for this monster yet.

Position 3: Undead Badger

At position 3, I selected the Undead Busger. With its Sneak ability, this monster attacks the opponent from behind.

Position 4: Life Sapper

At position 3, I selected the Life Sapper. With its Life-Leech ability, it can steal some lives and take some damage or heal itself.

Position 5: Venari Bonesmith

At position 4 I chose the Venari Bonesmith, for the same reason as the Life-Sapper at position 3.

Position : Silent Sha-Vi

At position 5: the Silent Sha-Vi. With its Sneak ability, this monster attacks the opponent from behind.

Let's Fight!
