Hello everyone, my name is @ksam (Kalu Samuel), and it is my pleasure once more to anchor this tutorial for the Newbies Initiative programme.
Before you read this tutorial, it is expected that you have read the Tutorial on Blockchain Games, where I introduced us to the world of Blockchain games.
By way of summary, I said that there are four major features of Blockchain games:
- You play blockchain games for FUN
- You earn in-game Cryptocurrency
- You earn NFTs
- You trade the in-game cryptocurrency and NFTs
With this foundational knowledge of Blockchain game, let us have look at Rising Star game and present a tutorial to help everyone understand the basics of the game.
☆ INTRODUCING RISING STAR 🌟
Rising Star is an NFT music career game built on Hive Blockchain, where users begin their musical career as a lowly busker and work their way to the global stage by becoming a mega star.
It is a Free to Play game, and a Play to Earn game. In other words, you can play Rising Star without investing a dime, yet you earn from it as well.
Each mission you carry out earns you Starbits token (the in-game crypto) and takes you a step closer to become a super star. Along the line, you can build your band, have more fans, increase your skills, take musical lessons and purchase more NFTs to increase your STATS in the game as well as your chances to earn more.
☆ IN THE WORLD OF RISING STAR
The major requirement for playing Rising Star is owning a Hive Account.
Rising Star is accessible via Mobile and Laptop browser. For Laptop users, you can easily log on to risingstargame.com and use your Hive Keychain extension to easily log in to have access to the game and play as well.
However, for mobile users, you need to follow the steps below:
- Go to the browser section of your Hive Keychain mobile application,
- Open the website https://www.risingstargame.com/ and login with your Hive account name,
- Click on “Play on Mobile”, and on the new page click on “Generate New Mobile Link”
- Click on “Show Mobile Link”
- Copy the link and paste it on your normal phone browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Brave Browser to play Rising Star.
- Safeguard the link because others can have access to your Rising Star account if they get hold of this link.
- When you have done this Viola!

☆ UNDERSTANDING THE INTERFACE OF RISING STAR
From the screenshot of Rising Star interface above, we can see the following:
Beside the Rising Star logo you have the following icons: Home, Missions, Card, Achievements, Trophy, FAQ (How to Play), and a link to Rising Star trending post on Hive, Discord Server and Facebook.
You will also see the game level, energy level, account name and amount of Starbits/Starpro in your wallet.
At the top left section of the image, we have the following details:
- Present card level with the various STATS associated with it,
- Number of Fans
- Number of Luck
- Number of skills,
- Number of IM
At the top right section of the image, we have the following details:
- Present location/zone
- Special Missions
- Festival World Tour
- Music Promoter
- Custom Shop
- Music Lesson
At the bottom left section of the image, we have the following details that show the different missions available in each location/zone. For instance, the zone selected is Home Town. These are the missions available:
- Illegal Busking
- Open Mic Night
- Mid-Week Support Slot
- Busking with a License
- Midweek Headline Slot
- Saturday Support
- Saturday Headline
The bottom right section shows the details of the Mission, which includes:
- The name/title of the mission
- Information about the mission
- The required number of fans to be eligible for this mission
- The required level to be eligible for this mission
- The duration of the mission
- The energy consumption or energy required for this mission
- The amount of Starbits you can possibly earn from the mission
- The number of XP the mission will give
Your diary or information showing the rewards you receive from each mission (starbits, pizza, etc) and the option to share it on Twitter.
☆ HOW TO PLAY RISING STAR
When you first begin to play Rising Star, you will only have access to the Mission called “Illegal Busking” located in your Hometown zone, but overtime you will begin to play more missions and unlock new zones as you gain fans and XP.
If you do not have the required number of fans or levels to play a mission, you will not be allowed to play the mission until you have fulfilled the requirements.
The higher the mission, the higher the required levels and fans. This also increases your earning potentials and XP to be received.
Click on START, and after the set duration, you will get an update on your diary about the information of the gig, how much you earned and how many fans you've got.
When you conquer the different stage levels in your hometown, then you can move over to other locations for Country Tour.
☆ IMPORTANT FEATURES IN RISING STAR
LEVEL UP
To go higher in level, you need to play more missions and automatically level up with your earned XP.
ENERGY
You need energy to complete every mission, and every mission has its unique energy requirement; some may require more, while others may require less. However, every 1% of your energy takes 5 minutes to refill: 100% = 500 minutes (8 hours and 20 minutes). Although you can increase your energy with coffee boast and pizza.
FANS
When you have more fans, you get to play higher levels. There are two types of fans:
- Permanent fans: they stay with you for life
- Drunk fans: they are your fans for a while, when they wake up, they will forget about you.
LUCK
The more luck you have, the more drunk fans you may get.
SKILL
Equip yourself with more skills to combat your ego and earn more. You can do this by taking music lessons (in the game) or buying cards with more skills.
EGO
When you have more fans than your skills, the Ego meter increases. This implies that you will earn fewer starbits in your missions. To earn maximum starbits in your mission, ensure to balance your skills and your fans.
IM
The Income Modifier (IM) is used as part of the formula that decides your ranking.
☆ DIFFERENT MISSIONS ON RISING STAR
- Standard Mission: Participating in standard missions earn you more fans and level up to get access to more missions, and tour around the world. The image above represents the four different zones in standard missions.
- Special Missions: These are rare missions that have different/unique requirements and they earn you other hive engine tokens. They last for limited period.
- Music Lessons: Music lessons help you combat your ego and earns you more skills.
☆ EARNING ON RISING STAR
You can earn on Rising Star by simply playing the standard missions. This will earn you from 1 starbits token upwards, depending on the game level.
The minimum starbits that can be withdrawn is 1000 starbits, and this could be swapped in the Decentralized Exchanges to Swap.Hive or to other tokens.
You could use the starbits to also purchase some NFT cards to increase your earning potential.
Starpro is another in-game currency on Rising star, but this can be earned by placing a bid each day on the Music Promoter mission.
☆ RISING STAR CARDS/NFTs
The cards in Rising Star are NFTs such that: you own them (ownership rights), you can use them in the game (use case) and you can sell them off to earn (earning possibility).
The categories of card include: People, Instruments, Vehicles, Boosters, Others, Crafted, Records, Festival and Fanclub.
Each of these categories have their unique features: fans, skill, luck and IM.
The boosters help boost your fans, skills, XP or Energy.
NB: purchasing energy boosters helps you play for longer time; and PIZZA boxes also helps you keep slices of PIZZA.
These cards could be sold or purchased in the in-game Marketplace of Rising Star game using the starbits token or Swap.Hive.
As I earlier mentioned, Rising Star is a Free to Earn game such that without investing a dime you can dedicate your time to play and earn more starbits. Then you can go ahead to use the starbits to purchase NFTs to boost your gaming experience, and increase your earning possibilities.
Rising Star is a Blockchain game on Hive just like Splinterlands, Hashking, Dcrops, PsyberX, Cryptoshots, and Ragnarok.
These blockchain games provide a cool way of earning and having fun on Hive.

@tengolotodo @ksam I opened many packs and till now only once hit legendary. Level is 45-56 not sure my level exactly right now. So the trick is open packs forever and one day u might hit legendary. Highest risingstar legendary card was sold for 1000 hive in rs peak times, it was founder's nft.
I had pretty good luck with woo too. Got 5 sonny onoo in airdrop. They r limited and very rare too. Last time checked each was selling for 150$ but floor price will be around 95-100$ each.
That is great about the Sonny, I did see someone post about one today somewhere.
I am level 76 and open packs from time to time.

I wanted to get at least 2 cards... but the sales was so fast. People like us in an environment where the Network isnt helping matters, such events dont favour us at all.
But you get cheaper rates irl. Everything is cheap compared to dollar. So it have advantages too :)
This is not true when you do the calculation.
In a country like US, using this data from this source, where you get 7GB for $20, the minimum wage is $7.5 per hour from here
Which implies that in at least 4 hours you should make $29.
In Nigeria, the minimum wage is N30,000 per month. Which is basically, ±$46.1... PER MONTH! (Using $1=N650; although the rate should be N720+)

In Nigeria, you can purchase 6 GB data for N1,500 (± $2.3).
This implies that, while it will take someone in US 4 hours with an hourly wage of $7.5 to make up $29 (to purchase data of $20).
It will take a Nigerian 1 day of work (Monday - Friday) to purchase the same worth of data, based on the minimum wage. ($46.1÷20 = $2.3)
So you see that it is Costlier here in Nigeria than it is in US
When calculating different figures, one should also consider the environment and the value/worth of the local currency.
And it is worthwhile to mention that even a graduate struggles to find a job that will give him or her that amount.
You will easily get a job where you earn N15,000 ($23) or N20,000 ($30) per month... even as a University Degree holder.
The minimum wage only applies to Government workers... other private institutions do not abide by it.

Unfortunately starbits price dropped dropped and dropped some more, but I reinvest all earnings so it is ok.

From what I heard sometime ago, I think the founder didn't really plan the circulation and all stats for the starbits token at the beginning, and that is why the token dropped in value so much... but i think it will get better little by little
Yeah the shooting type ones on the blockchains are so basic to what you can do.
I don't really do games anymore, but yes on hive, rising star is good one.
All these games have a problem in keeping their token value, just like any other token at the moment.
It is still fun so I will keep playing away when I remember!

If you enter into blockchain game because of the fun, you would not be too discouraged when the token prices dip so hard... but if you are in it as an investor.... then you must be worried...
