Facebook has been going through a lot of hell recently due to data leaks and all kinds of other shit. Rightfully so, they are leaking and selling user data. The fact of the matter is that doing a rebrand isn't going to chance the damage that's already done. Supposedly Facebook Meta is shifting away from being a social media company to a metaverse company. Shocking that the "metaverse" is slowly becoming more and more of a reality for people and companies... Not.

Obviously this rebrand is to try and distance themselves from the leaked documents known as the "faceboook papers" and data leaks. Shockingly enough (not really) these documents revealed that Facebook is focused more on profits than people's safety. I haven't seen the documents myself but they stood up when presented to Congress. I understand why they would want to distance themselves and try to save other companies under Facebook.

What does this mean for facebook branded services like Instagram and WhatsApp? I assume they will be more independent of Meta on paper. It's all still the same though if they don't actually change how they do business. Maybe stop selling user's data? Maybe offer people the option to not have their data stolen? Maybe protect user data? hmmm....

I don't use Facebook Meta because I respect my privacy. I don't want my identity sold. I don't want them constantly analyzing me to show me more shit products. I choose Hive. No, Hive is not very much like it but there could be a front end built that's very similar. There's Torum for those that want the feel of FB.

Want to be a whole lot happier? Come to Hive where you can post literally whatever you want. You can earn real world values for your thoughts without your identity being sold. Take control of your privacy and build your wealth. Stop giving shit corporations like Facebook Meta your data so they can make money off your every move.

Facebook wont change their ways and they are just trying to scramble and save face now. People just need to stop using it if they don't like what they do. The issue a majority of the population just doesn't care and will continue using it. That is unless they find a new platform to connect and build a community around. That's why I'm saying hive is primed for growth but it needs serious dev work. We have the communities and the content we just lack half decent UIs right now which is what keeps many away from interacting here on hive. Community is important and it's what will transition people off of Facebook and these other networks on to other networks hopefully hive, decartelized platforms.

Right. Your average user is just going to keep using it like nothing is happening. Hopefully this will open some eyes, but it'll probably just spawn new people obsessed with Meta.
