COMtest- Biggest embarrassment attending parties.

So a friend of mine told us that her rich uncle who lives abroad is coming home to get married and as a chronic party lover, I started making preparation.

There were about six of us if I am not mistaken and we decided to buy our Aso-ebi since we couldn't afford the price of the family Aso-ebi (The cloth chosen for the event).

The wife is a foreigner and she insisted on doing it the African way due to her love for African culture. Our friend told us that it was going to be a grand wedding, the husband's family was ready to spend huge since the wife's family and friends will be flying in as well.

We made sure everything we bought was the same, classic but cheap. I looked at everything in my wardrobe and smiled because I can't dress that way and don't get noticed at the event. We were all prepared and our friend already promised to get us invitation card since it was strictly by invitation.

We contributed money for her to go and get the invitation cards since she complained of being broke at that time. She went home only for her to break the news that every family was given just ten invitations and being the last child of her family, she got only one.

We all felt bad due to the effort we have put into the preparation, the hall capacity was for three hundred people but the couple insisted on just 150 guests plus themselves. We all gave up but our friend gave us hope, she said we will find a way and she came up with the idea of disguising as part of the catering team at the wedding.

I didn't buy that idea because I hate embarrassment but they all persuaded me and I agreed.

The wedding was to hold on Lagos Island and we left Ijebu Ode in Abeokuta as early as 7 am. To make our claim as part of the catering team solid, we went with a medium cooler of fried peppered snails, disposable plates, and toothpicks.

It was a long trip and immediately after we arrived in Lagos, we took Uber so that we can be very comfortable throughout the trip.

We arrived at the Hall and it was a grand party indeed. We called our friend who came out and told the bouncer that we were a catering team and they should let us in but they refused. They told us we need an invitation or clearance from the person in charge of the catering services at the hall.

After dragging back and forth, we weren't allowed in. The event center has a big garden near the hall so we just went there to sit with other people who were denied entry.

Is it not just a wedding, why will they be rejecting people?

I was so pissed that my friend apology made me more angry. She got drinks for us and in the garden, we started eating our snails. We even shared with people but I was really mad at my friends for insisting that we can find our way into the event.

To appease us, we had to rotate my friend invitation cards for five minutes each just to see what was going on. You need to see how those bouncers were laughing at us, I was embarrassed.

The money we spent was no joke for me as a student and the anger made me leave the venue with informing any of them. I went to my aunt's place on the mainland and couldn't even tell her why I was in Lagos.

I begged her not to tell my mom and her condition was for me to tell her why I came to Lagos.

I opened up to her and she couldn't stop laughing at me. Her husband and children made a joke out of me for the two days I spent with them.

You and your friends are something else.
You guys bought asoebi and travelled to a different state. How did you all even forget that big weddings and "no IV, no entry" are 5 & 6?
Una try Sha. Last last, you had some fun and something to laugh over😂😂

Youth drives us to many things. In my country, to want to enter in that way is to be a rice farmer. It's really embarrassing, but then it passes and is remembered with a lot of laughter @lara-bee
