Borobudur is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Central Java. It was built during the reign of King Syailendra (824 CE). The folks said that the architect was Gunadharma. The name of Gunadharma became a name of a university in Jakarta today. Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world.
Shocking

The word Borobudur is trending on Twitter. I checked that there was shocking news. The Indonesian government, under the minister of Coordinator of Maritim and Investment, announced that the cost of a ticket for a local tourist is IDR 750,000 or $50. while foreign tourists will be charged $100. The ticket price is not affordable for local tourists. On the other hand, Borobudur has been a destination for students all over Indonesia to learn history.
When I was a kid , I also visited Borobudur. My school organized the visit. All children would learn the history of the Javanese Kingdom under the Syailendra dynasty.
My question is should students pay $50 to learn the history of their ancestors? Besides that, the government did not build the temple. I think managing country is not like managing business that is profit oriented. There are social and cultural sides that have no connection with profit.
Yeah.. that is the fact today. If Indonesian people stay quiet with this decision, the government may apply the new ticketing system and pricing to other historical sites. So... what is the benefit of this? Do we need more periode of this kind of government?
