One Thousand Legs

This animal is called a millipede. Its cilinder body is divided into segments. Most millipedes have 20 segments. The cylinder body will circle to protect the heads and legs when there is a threat. The hard cells on the segments will be the first bumper when there is a hit.
In Indonesia, it is called "kaki seribu". Kaki means legs, and seribu means one thousand. So Kaki seribu means "one thousand legs".

Most millipedes are herbivorous. They eat dead plants and leaves. Some of them eat fungi. They are also not poisonous, so they are harmless to humans.

You can find millipedes on the ground. They will sneak around the trees, holes, and other places on the ground. Their movement is voiceless.

However, the appearance of millipedes can be frightening to your children.When it makes a circle, the head is at the center of the circle. The tail is the brown edge on the outer area. The animal instinct, the millipede, protects vulnerable parts of the body in the safest place and position.

There are approximately 12,000 named species classified into 16 orders and around 140 families.
