Everyone has just one thing that is addicted to and I am no exception and thanks to this challenge posed by @elmerlin I can finally share some of my obsession with you guys. while I know that obsession can be a bad thing, there is no law saying that one can not have good obsessions too. get a snippet of what my obsessions are.

first on the list is writing or creating content. my love or passion for writing or creating content drove me to make writing a hobby, a job, and even a side hustle. I remember the days when I have just the Hive blogging platform as my source of livelihood, I could write up to four articles in a day while also writing for the community. Well, I got a new job now and it centers around writing also and the creation of documentation. In all, I see this as an obsession because even I am tired and very low on energy, I can not stop myself from writing.

Then i also have the obsession of shopping for shoes and this is one habit i hope that i can over come soonest because i can not that lifestyle. Just last year i bought a total of eight footwear and i feel it is a source of concern. I never use to be an heavy spender on wears but shoes as always found a way to wet my appetite and i was fortunate to have a lot of money on my hands last year, i lavish the funds on the shoes.

Well firstly, let me say thank you for making a second attempt at the challenge. Finally get to see some real pictures from you.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that you're obsessed with shoes. As a fellow shoe fanatic, I have a lot more to say about a shoe than "I obsess shopping for shoes and bought 8 pairs in a year"

Each and every shoe that I have, I take with me on a ~500 mile journey.. The places that I've laid my footsteps on, the thoughts I had as I did that.. the unexpected people I've met, the achievements I had with them.

Provenance is everything when it comes to collectibles. Otherwise, what's the point?

Creating content could be an obsession but let's be frank here.. We have to manage our expectations of what value we attribute to our "creations"

There are a few kinds of creators which make money but the main ones are:

  1. The aesthetic
  2. The talented
  3. The interesting

Aesthetic people have it easy because their looks do the talking. That's usually enough. ONLYFANS did not get 4 Billion revenue a year from people buying articles I can tell you that.

Talented people tend to be the top 1% (or there abouts) in their respective field of choice. Could be sports, music, writing, creativity. Their talent does the talking because they have likely spent a large part of their life dedicated to their art. Me for example? I have played Piano from the Age of 4 and studied it for 20 years. Had recitals, was a child prodigy, that kind of thing.

Interesting people draw on their personality and again, this is really something hard to recreate.

The common theme among them all is that they're uncommon. Remember, there is only value in scarcity. If you can't write C.S Lewis or Run like Bolt, have skills like Lang Lang or that star essence like Will Smith, you'll probably find it hard to be as successful as them!

I could write 4 articles a day on Hive, but they wouldn't be very good. I wouldn't pay any money to read them, so I would feel bad about getting paid by the community for writing them. I think this is the essence that I'm getting at here and part of the foundations I set out for liketu. That is, it's time for people to put money where their mouth is. Can we become a platform where, people engage and use relationships formed in order to get financial reward without drawing from a socialised pool of funds. This is how OF became so successful, this is how Patreon became so successful, IT IS LITERALLY how "artists" in the NFT space have been able to monetize and change their life.

They have built up their reputation (largely for free (where do you see people posting on twitter for money (and yet they do))) for years and years and then in one way or another secured a reputational exit through the willingness of their community and fans to pay them directly.
