I'm not convinced about Liverpool this season. They are getting results but just don't seem to have that flow and cohesion they've had in recent seasons. When you need to start with a 36-year-old in the side, I'd say there is something lacking in the squad, not that Milner is poor, but no one of that age still has the legs and sharpness they might of once had.

The key man for me today is Mané. If he is on his game, he'll score, if not, he'll be invisible. All the plaudits constantly fly towards Salah but even he doesn't seem to be the player he was two seasons ago.

Liverpool lost both home and away to Atletico Madrid in 2020 which pout them out of the competition and this has to be at the back of their minds. Liverpool's mental preparation needs to be spot-on.

After 8 games, Atletico have 17 points, equal second in total with only Real Sociedad with more on 20 but have played an extra game. Their form is good but perhaps a little short on goal-scoring abilities and tonights game could be close with perhaps the home advantage swinging it.

The Small Print

In the first goalscorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition will roll over if there is no winner. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget the new rule that only people with a rep of 50 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. The bonus will be added to any winnings ONLY if Leeds United win and/or Man U lose and all pay-outs will never exceed 50% of post-pay-out. Other bonuses are paid out at my discretion.
