A Full-Scale Rebuild of LeoFinance on Hive | We Need Your Help! Win Up to 20,000 LEO!

image.png

We're considering, in essence, full-scale rebuild of LeoFinance.io. Along with this would be a lot of structural improvements. Rewriting a lot of old/outdated code and ultimately aiming to build a much better product from the ground up.

We're asking you - the community - to help us design this rebuild. We can do anything during this process. Change elements that you may not like, build stronger foundations and ultimately create the best Web3 Social Media Product that the world has ever seen.

If you've been following our development trail, you'll notice a marked change in the rollout of new features and updates to existing ones. Building Threads has enabled us to design from scratch as opposed to fixing old frameworks.

Threads might live on the LeoFinance.io framework, but it exists in a sort of echochamber from the rest of our codebase. This allows us to iterate quickly on threads without worrying about breaking the rest of the UI. Building from scratch has allowed us to do some incredible things with Threads.

We're ready now to take that first principles thinking back to the broader LeoFinance UI. Our team is larger than it was when we first created LeoFinance.io and we have a lot more talent on the team as well. It's now possible to create the UI that we wanted to create with far better structural foundations.

Along with this rebuild will essentially be doing away with a lot of wasteful use of resources. We have some old elements of LeoFinance.io that are completely unnecessary and take away from the rest of the UI. We also have the opportunity to clean things up to focus on our broader roadmap which involves a deeper integration of what we believe to be the future of Web3: a full-scale platform with Microblogging, Blogging, Tokenization, DeFi and more. All of it is brought to you by the LeoUI.

Competition: Win Up to 20,000 LEO!

We're going to give away 20,000 LEO in this contest. It will be distributed based on accepted designs. If you submit designs for every single aspect of the UI and we choose your design for each aspect, then you'll get the full 20k.

The reality is that many will submit and we will likely pick and choose from each element and divide up the prize fairly amongst the winners.

This is quite a large undertaking and we want everyone to participate. If you want to show off a redesign for 1 page on the UI or even 1 small element, that's totally fine! We want to open it up to as many people as we can.

If you see someone else's design and think you can improve it, leave feedback to them. Get involved, share your opinion and help us build better.

How to Participate

To participate in this, we're looking for mockups of what you believe to be a better LeoFinance.io.

For example, take 1 page from the UI and redesign it. I'm writing this from the Publishing page and can already see a few elements that I would personally change if I were to rewrite the page from scratch.

So take the existing UI, pages, elements, etc. and then redesign them. Post the old vs. your new mockups in a https://leofinance.io post and make sure to include "redesign" in the tags.

  1. Create a mockup for any page or element on LeoFinance.io
  2. Show a comparision of the old vs. new and include some details about why you did what you did
  3. Post 1 or all of your mockups/designs in a leofinance.io post and then tag with "redesign"
  4. Bonus visibility if you copy/pasta the link to your post and post a thread with the link

Questions?

We're trying to keep this competition simple so it should be straightforward. Just redesign any or all of the Leo UI and post your designs in a post. We'll pick our favorite designs and dish out 20,000 LEO that we purchased to the winners. We may do more than 20k LEO depending on the # of participants but 20k will be the minimum prize going out.

If you have any questions about the competition, drop a comment below!

Also, happy Hard Fork 26 🦁

Why?

Just curious

Because it is a VERY limiting word and reinforces the essay style content, it's 20 years old and there is nothing cool or new about a Blog.

We have a communications platform, announcements, personal stories, requests for funding, opinions, etc.

Blogging is YESTERDAY and carries with it a powerful expectation of how the platform should be used.

Change to "Publish", Submit, Story, literally anything cooler than "Blog".

Rebuilding From scratch this sounds Big and brilliant.

I've some thoughts or like an Imagine in my mind that how the new UI should be so just need to Look where things Get fits perfectly.

There's so many brilliant Designers Here on this Platform so I bet whatever comes will be top notch.

Looking forward to see who's Going to take the jackpot and the new look of Leofinance.

Greetings @leofinance ❤️😊

We're considering, in essence, full-scale rebuild of LeoFinance.io. Along with this would be a lot of structural improvements. Rewriting a lot of old/outdated code and ultimately aiming to build a much better product from the ground up.

I firstly want to commend your effort for promoting and developing the Leofinance platform. I love the fact that the team is highly updated about new technological features implemented and recent development implemented in recent blockchain platforms. I think it will be more interesting if more Web3 features is adopted in Leofinance platform.

We're trying to keep this competition simple so it should be straightforward. Just redesign any or all of the Leo UI and post your designs in a post. We'll pick our favorite designs and dish out 20,000 LEO that we purchased to the winners.

Wow!! 20, 000 LEO tokens? This is really gonna be fun. I'm definitely gonna take part in the contest 😀😀

If you have any questions about the competition, drop a comment below!

When is the deadline for the redesign contest?

Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead ❤️💕❤️

Definitely looking forward to see the designs from the community.HIVE is full of amazing talents. Please do the same for CUB/POLYCUB after taking care of LEO. There will be amazing designs for those as well. As of now, our DeFi projects don't have much of a unique identity in terms of UI. Let's make UI as innovative as Tokenomics!

I think this is good, please put the app version of Leofinance into consideration as well. We've not gotten that top-notch user-friendliness with it.

There are many talented designers in Hive. Based on previous design contests, I guess good results will be obtained.

This is amazing. It's cool how building threads helped you get to this point.

I wonder if the rebuild idea was an "ah ha" moment after living with threads, or if it was already at the top of the list and threads was sort of a test?

You guys keep me on my toes and I like it, I would not have guessed this one.

I'm enjoying all this quite a bit, thanks!

*now back to my regularly scheduled #threading ;)

Can you elaborate more on this? I mean what would the function of it.
I am currently trying to make my own design and I'm interested on your suggestion. 😊

If you use Peakd, you will notice it has a favorite tab, it is for people whose contents are my favorite for example so instead of going to general feed to find them the "favorite" tab simplifies it. Would be nice if we can have that on Leofinance.

Ohh see. That's good be integrated too to LeoFinance.
I haven't used that feature yet on Peakd. Gonna try it first.

Thanks a lot.

The design is not bad, I would just suggest some cleanup of things. Definitely need to add Hive Keychain capabilities for mobile devices.

Threads may actually be better on its own domain instead of just being apart of the whole interface. At least a sub domain...

stuff like that... Just spit-balling off the top of my head

I don't think Threads is meant to live on leofinance.io forever, if I'm not mistaken, it's like the beta testing of "project blank" so they should be a detachment someday or maybe it would live on leofinance.io while also having a separate domain.

Wow another beautiful initiative from the Leo team.
There is no doubt that amazing designers are here that will participate.
And what can I say, I will be intrigued to participate as well, Goodluck to all the designers.

Great initiative.
Great leadership.

Already there's buzz in comments from community anticipating participation.

Reinvention and rebranding is crucial to staying relevant in the digital space.

Other projects here should follow your lead. In fact, ALL OF HIVE needs a rebranding/ image upgrade.

@gtg is the only one with an eye for impressive Hive imagery, albeit delivered sporadically.

Most projects here stuck in steemit go-nowhere simplistic image mindset. No wonder @arcange got not support for hivebuzz proposal. Badges for the sake of badges just aren't hip anymore aye.

Congratulations, you are celebrating your x year as an unknown unused unimpressive chain. Carry on doing what you're doing and look forward to next year's badge. Oh and see you next hivefest to congratulate yourself and the other dinosaurs NOT pushing anything of significance into the Web3 space.

Congratulations @leofinance! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s):

You received more than 140000 upvotes.
Your next target is to reach 150000 upvotes.

You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking

This is an amazing opportunity to say the least. Time to put on the thinking cap and putting together suggestions is going to be the thing going forward.
May I know what is the deadline for this or it would be even better if this is being done on a rolling basis as the road of development is always under construction ;)

Cool contest, 20K LEO is a decent prize pool that should poke plenty of designers on the chain! However, I think that EU/US UI/UX designers might have a hard time determining how much time they'd like to invest (20K Leo translates into 10-15 hours of -guaranteed- work) by competing in a contest.

I also believe that expectations are an important aspect of desired designs versus the reward/prize pool that will be given out. I'm missing a bit of that in the description of the contest. This 100% will improve the level of entry.

For example; the current trend is BOLD and NEON for web design. However, we can start seeing a transition from SOLID NEON to SOLID LIGHT-NEON color palettes, regarding color design (for example; the requested Night mode designs become 'old' and users crave balance). Whereas BOLD typography remains the same; our target audience is young, and they like to be heard and seen -> bold is where we identify ourselves, this still is very much the case, but here again; we see a small move transition into light+bold typography.

What are your views, requests, and expectations on this regarding the Contest? I'd love to participate, but I would like to have some sort of guideline to work with.

  • What pages do well, are there metrics?
  • What current challenges are known so far?
  • What are the goals? Faster load-speed?
  • Which is more prioritized? Mobile or Web UI/UX design
  • What brands can LeoFinance relate to, design-wise
  • Are there "dream" designs in mind, versus "expected" designs that go in line with the reward/prize pool?

If I was hired for a re-design, these are just a few questions I'd ask before starting designing (creating a visual concept first, and throughout that, you'd build a high-quality design that will be guided within the expectations, with more potential to exceed that expectation)

Sorry for the long reply. Awesome contest, I hope many will participate!
Cheers!
