Chaos Legion Phase 2: Buy or Skip? + VOUCHER and the FOMO effect

Today is December 9, and it's also the second day since Phase 2 of the Chaos Legion card collection sale began.

Phase 2 will end in 34 days and 11 hours and then Phase 3, the General Sale, will start, where Voucher tokens will no longer be needed to purchase Chaos Legion card packs but will continue to be useful to get bonuses for purchasing multiple packs in one transaction (100+, 500+, 2000+).

In the following image you can see all the main information of Phase 2 which I have summarized in a tabular form (next image).

Today is also the second day of the restart of the airdrop of VOUCHER tokens that compared to the presale phase has a double distribution mechanism:

66666,666 tokens per day / total SPS staked * SPS staked by player

I received in two days a total of 10.51 VOUCHER tokens:

  • 5.28 VOUCHER tokens the first day
  • 5.23 VOUCHER tokens the second day

The VOUCHER tokens and the Presale: was it better to sell the VOUCHER tokens or was it better to use them?

On the first day of the presale (October 18, 2021) I published a post in which I shared some considerations and some calculations that led me from the beginning to decide to sell my VOUCHER tokens.

My choice to sell VOUCHER tokens was the result of personal reasoning and predictions.
The price of VOUCHER tokens has always been decided freely by the market but I have always considered this value too excessive compared to the value of the benefits obtained from their use.

Now that the Chaos Legion cards are on sale on the market and we know the value of the Doctor Blight card I can finally verify if my predictions were right and if my choice not to participate in the pre-sale was right or wrong and I can share with my dear readers the result of this verification.

From the first airdrop I got a total of 71.24 VOUCHER tokens, I sold all the VOUCHER tokens received and got a total gain of 1439.23 SWAP.HIVE.

Based on the current value of 1 HIVE token (Dec 9, 2021), 1439.23 SWAP.HIVE is worth $2357.46

If I divide the profit I made from the sale of the VOUCHER tokens (2357.46$) with the number of VOUCHER tokens sold (71.24) I get the cost I would have incurred for using a single VOUCHER token if I had decided to participate in the presale:

1 VOUCHER token = $33.20

If I had participated in in the presale each pack of cards would have cost me a total of $37.20 ($4 + $33.20).

If I had participated in the presale and used all the VOUCHER tokens I received from the first airdrop I would have been able to buy 71 packs of Chaos Legion cards and would have also gotten 1 Doctor Blight level 1 card.

So with an investment of $2357,464 today I would have 71 packs of Chaos Legion cards and 1 level 1 Doctor Blight card.

Today the Doctor Blight level 1 card is for sale on the Splinterlands marketplace for $149.94.

Based on the current market value of VOUCHER tokens, buying a pack of Chaos Legion cards currently costs $12.71.

If I had participated in the presale I would have spent 2641.2$ to get:
- 71 packs of Chaos Legion cards.
- 1 Doctor Blight level 1 card.

If today (Phase 2) I spend 2641.2$ I can get:
- 196 packs of Chaos Legion cards
- +10 packs of Chaos Legion cards (bonus for buying 100+ packs of cards)
- 1 Doctor Blight level 1 card.

The choice to sell VOUCHER tokens and not participate in the pre-sale was definitely a winning choice.

The above calculations are relative to my situation and the purchase possibilities I had during the presale.

Those who bought 870 packs of Chaos Legion cards during the presale got more benefits than those who bought less than 100 packs of cards:

  • 1000 packs of Chaos Legion cards
  • 19 Doctor Blight cards (Level 1)**.
  • 1 Doctor Blight Gold version
  • 1 title "The Legionnaire "

But despite the additional benefits even in this case it would have been a better choice to sell the VOUCHER tokens during the pre-sale and buy the same assets during phase 2.
In fact I have calculated the cost of buying the same assets during the two phases:

  • presale
  • phase 2.
    Note: The title "The Legionnaire" has a value of 100000 points for the airdrop of the SPS tokens and as a replacement I have calculated the cost of buying 100000 DEC tokens that guarantee the same score.

Those who bought 870 packs of cards during the presale spent a total value of $32364.

Those who buy today during Phase 2 and spend $16711.4 can buy:

  • 1000 packs of Chaos Legion cards ($12710).
  • +150 packs of Chaos Legion cards as a bonus
  • 19 Doctor Blight Level 1 cards (1350$)
  • 1 Doctor Blight Gold version (1839$)
  • 100000 DEC tokens (812.44$)

Phase 2: Buy or Skip?

If there were no VOUCHER tokens, participating in the presale would have been for me an opportunity not to be missed more than a possible choice.
My choice not to participate in the presale turned out to be right in the end.
Those who asked me for advice and followed my advice today have the opportunity to buy more packs of cards than in the presale.
However, I would like to point out that whoever participated in the presale and reading this post regrets to have done so should not be sad because they must consider that the VOUCHER tokens were distributed for free by Splinterlands and whoever used them and did not sell them had only a missed profit and not a loss!

Splinterlands is my favorite blockchain-based game and is a project I still see so much potential in and my minimum purchase goal is 1000 packs of Chaos Legion cards.

VOUCHER tokens and the FOMO effect

The value that VOUCHER tokens had during the presale and their current value are, in my opinion, a demonstration of the power of FOMO (fear of missing an opportunity).

I have always personally evaluated the value of 1 VOUCHER token to be less than $4 which is why I will continue to sell the VOUCHER tokens I receive from the airdrop until their sale value is greater than $4.

The first two days of phase 2 I received a total of 10.51 VOUCHER tokens which I immediately sold and made a profit of 57.7966 SWAP.HIVE tokens which I will reinvest to buy Chaos Legion card packs later.

Is it worth paying today for a pack of Chaos Legion cards $12.71 during Phase 2 when during the General Sale the same pack of cards can be bought for $4?

The answer to this question is obviously personal and subjective.
The choice of whether or not to participate in Phase 2 of the Chaos Legion card pack sale will depend primarily on two important elements to consider:

  • the value that the VOUCHER tokens will have during the phase 2 sale period.
  • the value of the 2 cards that will be distributed by airdrop to the participants of the phase 2 sale.

Today we still do not know the characteristics of the cards that will be distributed by airdrop at the end of the sale phase 2.

In my investments I like to make calculations and predictions and not having enough data on which to make calculations (characteristics of the cards of the two following airdrop) I will continue to sell daily all the VOUCHER tokens that I will receive and I will do it at least until their value will be higher than 4$.

In fact after phase 2 the VOUCHER tokens will serve exclusively to get bonuses for multiple card pack purchases and as the General Sale approaches their value should progressively drop unless the cards of the next two airdrops are really strong and in that case only after the cards are revealed there could be a reversal.

Of course, mine are only personal evaluations and they are not financial advices

Chaos Legion Fase 2: Comprare o Passare? + I token VOUCHER e l'effetto FOMO

Oggi è il 9 dicembre ed è anche il secondo giorno da quando è iniziata la Fase 2 della vendita della collezione di carte Chaos Legion.

La Fase 2 terminerà tra 34 giorni e 11 ore e subito dopo iniziera la fase 3, la General Sale, in cui i token Voucher non saranno più indispensabili per l'acquisto dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion ma continueranno ad essere utili per ottenere i bonus per l'acquisto di pacchi multipli in un'unica transazione (100+, 500+, 2000+).

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere tutte le informazioni principali della Fase 2 che ho sintetizzato in forma tabellare (immagine seguente).

Oggi è anche il secondo giorno della ripartenza dell'airdrop dei token VOUCHER che rispetto alla fase della prevendita ha un meccanismo di distribuzione doppio:

Io ho ricevuto in due giorni un totale di 10.51 token VOUCHER:

  • 5.28 token VOUCHER il primo giorno
  • 5.23 token VOUCHER il secondo giorno

I token VOUCHER e la Prevendita: è stato meglio vendere i token VOUCHER o sarebbe stato meglio utilizzarli?

Il primo giorno della prevendita (18 ottobre 2021) ho pubblicato un post in cui ho condiviso alcune considerazioni e alcuni calcoli che mi hanno portato fin da subito a decidere di vendere i miei token VOUCHER.

La mia scelta di vendere i token VOUCHER era il frutto di personali ragionamenti e previsioni.
Il prezzo dei token VOUCHER è stato sempre deciso liberamente dal mercato ma io ho sempre ritenuto questo valore davvero troppo eccessivo rispetto al valore dei benefici ottenibili dal loro utilizzo.

Adesso che le carte Chaos Legion sono in vendita sul mercato e si conosce il valore della carta Doctor Blight posso finalmente verificare se le mie previsioni erano sensate e se la mia scelta di non partecipare alla prevendita è stata giusta o sbagliata e posso condividere con i miei cari lettori il risultato di questa verifica.

Dal primo airdrop ho ottenuto un totale di 71.24 token VOUCHER, ho venduto tutti i token VOUCHER ricevuti e ho ottenuto un guadagno totale di 1439.23 SWAP.HIVE.

In base al valore attuale di 1 token HIVE (9 dicembre 2021), 1439.23 SWAP.HIVE valgono 2357.46$

Se divido il guadagno che ho ottenuto dalla vendita dei token VOUCHER (2357.46$) con il numero dei token VOUCHER venduti (71.24) ottengo il costo che avrei sostenuto per l'utilizzo di un singolo token VOUCHER se avessi deciso di partecipare alla prevendita:

1 token VOUCHER = 33.20$

Se avessi partecipato alla prevendita ogni pacco di carte mi sarebbe costato in totale 37.20$ (4$ + 33.20$).

Se avessi partecipato alla prevendita e avessi utilizzato tutti i token VOUCHER che ho ricevuto dal primo airdrop sarei riuscito a comprare 71 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion e avrei ottenuto anche 1 carta Doctor Blight di livello 1.

Quindi con un investimento di 2357.464$ oggi avrei 71 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion e 1 carta Doctor Blight di livello 1.

Oggi la carta Doctor Blight di livello 1 è in vendita sul mercato di Splinterlands al prezzo di 149.94$

In base al valore attuale dei token VOUCHER, comprare un pacco di carte Chaos Legion ha atualmente un costo effettivo di 12.71$

Se avessi partecipato alla prevendita avrei speso 2641.2$ per avere:
- 71 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion
- 1 carta Doctor Blight di livello 1

Se oggi (Fase 2) spendo 2641.2$ posso avere:
- 196 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion
- +10 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion (bonus per acquisto 100+ pacchi di carte)
- 1 carta Doctor Blight di livello 1

La scelta di vendere i token VOUCHER e non partecipare alla prevendita è stata una scelta decisamente vincente!

I calcoli precedenti sono relativi alla mia situazione e alle mie possibilità di acquisto che avevo durante la prevendita.

Chi ha comprato 870 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion durante la prevendita ha ottenuto più benefici rispetto a chi ha comprato meno di 100 pacchi di carte:

  • 1000 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion
  • 19 carte Doctor Blight (Livello 1)
  • 1 carta Doctor Blight versione Gold
  • 1 titolo "The Legionnaire"

Ma nonostante i benefici aggiuntivi anche in questo caso sarebbe stata una scelta migliore vendere i token VOUCHER durante la prevendita e acquistare gli stessi assets durante la fase 2.
Infatti ho calcolato il costo dell'acquisto degli stessi assets durante le due fasi:

  • prevendita
  • fase 2.
    Nota: Il titolo "The Legionnaire" ha un valore di 100000 punti per l'airdrop dei token SPS e in sostituzione ho calcolato il costo dell'acquisto di 100000 token DEC che garantiscono lo stesso punteggio.

Chi ha comprato 870 pacchi di carte durante la Prevendita ha speso in totale un valore di 32364$

Chi compra oggi durante la fase 2 e spende 16711.4$ può comprare:

  • 1000 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion (12710$)
  • +150 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion come bonus
  • 19 carte Doctor Blight di Livello 1 (1350$)
  • 1 carta Doctor Blight versione Gold (1839$)
  • 100000 token DEC (812.44$)

Phase 2: Buy or Skip?

Se non ci fossero stati i token VOUCHER partecipare alla presale sarebbe stata per me un'occasione da non perdere più che una possibile scelta.
La mia scelta di non partecipare alla prevendita si è rivelata alla fine giusta.
Chi mi ha chiesto consigli e ha seguito i miei consigli oggi ha la possibilità di comprare un numero maggiore di pacchi di carte rispetto alla prevendita.
Ci tengo comunque a sottolinerare che chi ha partecipato alla prevendita e leggendo questo post si è pentito di averlo fatto non deve essere triste perchè deve considerare che i token VOUCHER sono stati distribuiti gratuitamente da Splinterlands e chi li ha utilizzati e non li ha venduti ha avuto solo un mancato guadagno e non una perdita.

Splinterlands è il mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito ed è un progetto in cui vedo ancora tanto potenziale e il mio obiettivo di acquisto minimo è di 1000 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.

Il valore che hanno avuto i token VOUCHER durante la prevendita e il loro valore attuale sono, secondo la mia opinione, la dimostrazione del potere della FOMO (paura di perdere un'opportunità).

Ho sempre personalmente valutato il valore di 1 token VOUCHER inferiore a 4$ ed è per questo che continuerò a vendere i token VOUCHER che riceverò dall'airdrop fino a quando il loro valore di vendita sarà superiore a 4$.

I primi due giorni della fase 2 ho ricevuto un totale di 10.51 token VOUCHER che ho subito venduto e ho ottenuto un guadagno di 57.7966 token SWAP.HIVE che reinvestirò per acquistare i pacchi di carte Chaos Legion successivamente.

Conviene pagare oggi un pacco di carte Chaos Legion 12.71$ durante la Fase 2 quando durante la General Sale lo stesso pacco di carte potrà essere comprato a 4$?

La risposta a questa domanda è ovviamente personale e soggettiva.
La scelta se partecipare o meno alla fase 2 della vendita dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion dipenderà principalmente da due elementi importanti da considerare:

  • il valore che avranno i token VOUCHER durante il periodo della fase 2 di vendita.
  • il valore delle 2 carte che verranno distribuite tramite airdrop ai partecipanti alla fase 2 di vendita

Oggi non si conoscono ancora le caratteristiche delle carte che saranno distribuite tramite airdrop alla fine della fase 2 di vendita.

Nei miei investimenti mi piace fare calcoli e previsioni e non avendo sufficienti dati su cui fare calcoli (caratteristiche delle carte dei due successivi airdrop) continuerò a vendere giornalmente tutti i token VOUCHER che riceverò e lo farò almeno fino a quando il loro valore sarà superiore a 4$.

Infatti dopo la fase 2 i token VOUCHER serviranno esclusivamente per avere i bonus per gli acquisti di pacchi di carte multipli e con l'avvicinarsi della General Sale il loro valore dovrebbe scendere progressivamente a meno che le carte dei due successivi airdrop non saranno davvero forti e in quel caso solo dopo che le carte saranno rivelate potrebbe esserci un'inversione di tendenza.

Ovviamente le mie sono solo personali valutazioni e non sono consigli finanziari.

E tu che strategia di acquisto hai deciso di seguire?
Acquisterai i pacchi di carte Chaos Legion durante la fase 2 di vendita o aspetterai l'inizio della General Sale?

Congratulations on making the correct choice in the presale. After running the numbers on my own purchases, I would have saved a lot of money by not buying in the presale.

Im surprised how low the price of the doctor blight card has gone. This legendary card will have less then half the circulation of any other chaos legion legendary card and has great stats. I can only imagine it is panic selling and the price will stabilize once the market realizes the quantity is so limited.

That $149.94 USD for a single card is still crazy, even if it is Legendary. $250 USD would be approximately my monthly pension-like income. Splinterlands is indeed became the game of the rich. Most of the Splinterlands cards were worth a few cents in 2018 and in 2019.

I am glad I raised cash from the pre-sale but do you know if during the general sale (vouchers for bonus packs only) whether or not we can ignore the bonus packs? If so I might just sell off my VOUCHERS to buy more packs when it releases.

Certainly
During the General Sale the vouchers will only be used to get the bonus packs, so if you don't have them you can buy as many packs as you want.
Theoretically in the general sale the vouchers should be worth less than 4$ and it could be convenient to buy them ;)

Questa tua strategià è stata impeccabile..è andato tutto come avevi previsto. Io ti ho seguito per metà, ma con i Swap.Hive ho già fatto PowerUp, per ora non sarebbero utilizzabili per acquistare carte nella fase 3, a meno che faccia un power down, ma non ne ho l’intenzione

Nei miei post uso sempre il condizionale perchè il futuro non è prevedibile ma quando ho fatto i primi calcoli il 18 ottobre ho appositamente taggato tutti voi della gilda nel mio post per avvisarvi perchè era fin troppo evidente che i voucher erano sopravvalutati e frutto solo della FOMO e infatti dal primo giorno dellla prevendita mi sono tirato fuori e ho declinato tutti gli inviti alle pool di acquisto che avevo ricevuto.
Cmq la tua strategia è stata comunque logica perchè hai seguito una via di mezzo ;)

Per quanto riguarda la fase 2 conto di riuscire ad ottenere una buona quantità di token Voucher e poi seguiró come sempre i tuoi post e sceglieró più avanti come procedere. Grazie Liberty per tutte le strategie ed i consigli che metti a disposizione per la comunità

That was definitely a winning move. I was on the fence with vouchers sales before but I finally went and sold half of my vouchers after reading your previous post. And I sort of have the same opinion now -- vouchers are priced too high atm, so I'll probably sell those again until it comes below $4. Thanks for the helpful insights as always!

Fantastic post. I ended up buying 50 pre-sale packs to ensure myself a Dr. Blight. About 33 of those I got through vouchers drops and the rest from converting DEC/SPS into the remaining 17 vouchers. Going forward I'm getting about a voucher a day from the airdrops, and will continue to accrue a pack a day with DEC/SPS and stockpile cards with an eye towards the future.

Be intersting to see what strategies everyone else is using when it comes to vouchers and chaos legion packs!

As an aside this is my first post on 1up.zone - didn't even know it existed before!

I made the same decision as you to skip the presale and reallocate the funds to the general sale. Although my issue now is whether I should sell my vouchers or not. Correct me if i'm wrong but you plan to sell all the vouchers unless the price of vouchers is equal to 4 USD? I'm still torn what to do so articles like these are extremely helpful in my decision making process.

Yes I have decided to do this. I don't know the characteristics of the two airdrop cards and so not being able to do calculations and predictions I will sell the VOUCHER tokens. For me their value is less than 4$ and selling them will allow me to buy more packs in the general sale.
Obviously this is just my personal assessment and I could be wrong ;)
