The number of games built and developed on the Hive blockchain is steadily increasing and consequently the list of games I play or have decided to invest in is also getting longer but my time available is not infinite and sooner or later I will necessarily have to make choices but as long as I have the time and strength to do so I will try/play/invest on all Hive-based games.

On January 23, 2023, I made my first investment on Infernal Coliseum which is a PvP strategy and RPG game built and developed on Hive's blockchain.

On Infernal Coliseum, players are divided into two factions (angels and demons) and compete with each other to gain control of the game territory.

The mechanism of the game is quite simple:

• you must have at least 1 NFT of type Hero (which can be purchased on the in-game market or found in chests)
• you must click on a game area
• you must send your Hero to fight against the ZONE MONSTER by clicking on the Sword symbol in the zone screen.

Every 24h you will receive a SOULS token reward that will depend on:

• the reward pool of the area where you sent your Hero(es).
• the Raid Power of your Hero-type NFT(s) that you have sent into the zones.

A maximum of 3 Hero-type NFTs can be used in each zone.
Each zone has a requirement in XP that must be satisfied in order to gain access.

On Infernal Coliseum, time is marked by seasons and each season lasts 30 days.

The current season is the fourth which will end in just over 27 days.

Each player starts the season with an XP score of 0 points, which increases by 1 point per day for each zone played in the day before.
It is possible to increase the number of XP points by purchasing IXP tokens on Hive Engine and then burning them in the XP->Update XP section of the game.

Today I focus on the financial aspect of Infernal Coliseum by sharing my financial results after 39 days of play and analyzing the tokenomics of the game in more detail.

The tokens of Infernal Coliseum

The tokens of Infernal Coliseum are two:

• SOULS
• IXP

SOULS tokens and IXP tokens** are second-level tokens of the Hive blockchain and can be sold, purchased, and transferred from one of Hive's second-level token DEXs such as Hive Engine, TribalDex, and LeoDex.

The difference between the Highest Bid and Lowest Ask values is quite marked and both tokens have very low volume but the game is relatively young and many features still need to be implemented.

Evaluation of my investment in Infernal Coliseum

(39 days later)

Every blockchain-based game also becomes an investment the moment I decide to purchase assets (NFTs and tokens) using my liquidity outside the game.
In addition to the strategic and purely game aspects, I like to keep track of the financial results attached to each blockchain-based game I play.

Total Investment Cost

On January 23, I purchased a Legendary Chest for which I spent 38,167 SWAP.HIVE.

The Legendary Chest is the only purchase I have made so far and thus represents the total cost of my investment on Infernal Coliseum.

TOTAL VALUE ASSETS (NFTs + Tokens) + REWARDS

Within the Legendary Chest I found:

• 46 IXP tokens**
• 15 V2 Packs

I opened all the V2 Packs and found:

• 16 NFTs of type Hero
• 30 NFTs of type Farmer

Of the IXP tokens I found inside the legendary pack, I burned only 25 IXPs.

To calculate the value of the NFTs in my possession, I considered the lowest selling price (Lowest Ask) for each NFT in my collection.
To calculate the value of the tokens I considered the Highest Bid value.

To calculate the purchase cost of each NFT I found in the legendary chest I opened, I divided the cost of the legendary cest by the number of NFTs I found inside.

The total value of Infernal Coliseum assets in my possession is 115.73 SWAP.HIVE = $49.53.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 115.73 SWAP.HIVE is an estimated value! which becomes a real value only at the time I sell all my assets at the lowest selling price on the market today.

Calculation of PROFIT and ROI

With the data I have collected, I can calculate the financial results (Profit and ROI) of my gaming activity and investment on Infernal Coliseum.

In 39 days I achieved:

• a Profit of 77.56 SWAP.HIVE = $33.20
• a ROI of +203.21%

Analysis of Financial Results

The results I showed in the previous paragraph are very good results:

• Profit: 77.56 SWAP.HIVE
• ROI: +203.21%

To evaluate an investment in a blockchain game and/or to decide whether to invest in a blockchain-based game you need to do a deeper analysis and evaluate:

• the actual saleability of NFTs in the market.
• the value of game rewards compared to the value of the investment made.

How many NFTs of Infernal Coliseum have been sold so far and at what price?

I was not able to find the answers to the previous question because in the discord server of Infernal Coliseum there is a market section but there is no information about the cards sold but only information about the cards offered for sale.

This can mean only one of the following two options:

• Option 1: no Infernal Coliseum cards have been sold so far.
• Option 2: the bot does not release the information about the sold cards.

If Option 1 is true the calculation of the estimated value of my card collection loses much of its value.
If Option 2 is true the Infernal Coliseum team should make this information available to players.

However, it is important to consider that Infernal Coliseum although playable is a very young game and under development and many features will be added in the future.
By the way when a game is young and has few players the market for NFTs often has few transactions and even if the cards have no market at the moment they may still have in the future if the game increases the number of its players but the buying and selling information should always be available to the player/investor and easy to search.

I will now move on to evaluate the rewards of the game activity.

I started the last season of Infernal Coliseum with:

• 50 XP points
• 47 NFTs to use in game zones.

With 50 XP I started sending my NFTs to four game zones.
As my XP points increased I increased the number of game zones and on the last day of the season I was able to cover eight game zones with an XP gain of 8 XP points per day.

Note: I skipped 5 game days so my XP points and rewards could have been slightly higher and I finished the season with an XP score of over 165 points.

In 25 effective game days, starting with 50 XP and with 47 Heroes on hand I received 32.19 SOULS as rewards whose value is 0.22 HIVE (Highest Bid) and corresponds to 0.57% of my initial investment.

Were the seasonal rewards enough to restart me with 50 XP in the current season?"

There are two ways to get the XP points:

• buy IXP tokens from the market and then burn them.
• burn SOULS tokens in the IXP Pool.

If you buy 50 IXP from the market you spend 11.88 SWAP.HIVE (Lowest Ask) and spend 0.2376 SWAP.HIVE for IXP.

If you burn SOULS tokens in the IXP Pool you get an amount of IXP in proportion to how many SOULS you have put into the pool and in relation to the total SOULS entered by all players.

Spending 11.88 SWAP.HIVE to get 50 IXPs was definitely not an option for me, and so yesterday I put 31 SOULS into the IXP pool.

By burning 31 SOULS I got 41.6667 IXP.

Buying 31 SOULS today has a cost of 3.9369 SWAP.HIVE (lowest ask).
This means that I spent much less than buying IXP tokens directly: 0.0984225 SWAP.HIVE for IXP Vs 0.2376 SWAP.HIVE/IXP.

A whole season's rewards were not enough to restart me from the same number of XP as the previous season!

Doing a simple proportion, I calculated the amount of SOULS tokens I would have to burn to restart with 50 XP in the current season: 37.19 SOULS.

37.19 SOULS = 4.7230 HIVES

Why would a new player who has the same NFTs as me spend 4.7230 HIVE to start with 50 XP to receive as a probable reward of an entire season 32.19 SOULS that have a value of:

• 2.4626 SWAP.HIVE if sold based on the Highest Bid value
• 4.08809781 SWAP.HIVE if sold based on the Lowest Ask value ??????

I see no good reason to do this!

Final Considerations

My first impression of Infernal Coliseum was positive and still is because:

• I like the theme of the game
• I like the idea behind the game
• it is a game that takes little time to play
• it is a fun game because you can adopt different strategies

BUT there would be many things to review and improve...

• the whitepaper is very concise and should be expanded to provide more information
• the information found on the website is few and a new player has no incentive to start playing.
• THE REWARD SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE TOTALLY CHANGED AND IMPROVED.

When a game is as young as Infernal Coliseum it is not so important the value of tokens received as rewards but it is important that the player can by playing accumulate rewards and not spend them all to replay in the next season.

In my opinion:

• if the cost of IXP tokens becomes too high to negate a new player's playing rewards the team should immediately take action
• if the IXP/SOULS value ratio remains as it is now the XP point reset period should be removed or greatly lengthened**.

My personal conclusion is that Infernal Coliseum is a project that has potential to become a nice game from all points of view but at present it is not so and for the time being it is not a game that I would recommend to those who are not used to doing calculations and evaluations before buying a token or NFT!

I will continue to play hoping that changes will happen in the current season.
In the current season I will burn all the rewards I get to increase my XP score and try to cover as many areas as possible.

In 30 days, at the end of the current season, I will re-evaluate Infernal Coliseum financially and from the standpoint of user friendliness.

L'analisi finanziaria del mio investimento su Infernal Coliseum dopo 39 giorni di gioco

Il numero dei giochi costruiti e sviluppati sulla blockchain di Hive è in continuo aumento e di conseguenza si sta allungando anche la lista dei giochi in cui gioco o ho deciso di investire ma il mio tempo a disposizione non è infinito e prima o poi dovrò necessariamente fare delle scelte ma fin quando avrò il tempo e la forza di farlo cercherò di provare/giocare/investire su tutti i giochi Hive-based.

Il 23 gennaio 2023 ho fatto il mio primo investimento su Infernal Coliseum che è un gioco di strategia PvP e RPG costruito e sviluppato sulla blockchain di Hive.

Su Infernal Coliseum i giocatori sono divisi in due fazioni (angeli e demoni) e competono tra di loro per conquistare il controllo del territorio di gioco.

Il meccanismo del gioco è abbastanza semplice:

• devi avere almeno 1 NFT di tipo Hero (acquistabile sul mercato interno al gioco o trovabile nei chests)
• devi cliccare su una zona di gioco
• devi inviare il tuo Hero a combattere contro il Mostro della zona cliccando sul simbolo della Spada nella schermata della zona.

Ogni 24h riceverai una ricompensa in token SOULS che dipenderà da:

• la reward pool della zona in cui hai inviato il tuo Hero o i tuoi Heroes
• dal Raid Power del tuo o dei tuoi NFT di tipo Hero che hai inviato nelle zone

In ogni zona è possibile utilizzare un massimo di 3 NFT di tipo Hero.
Ogni zona ha un requisito in XP da soddisfare per poter accedere.

Su Infernal Coliseum il tempo è scandito dalle stagioni e ogni stagione dura 30 giorni.

La stagione attualmente in corso è la quarta che terminerà tra poco più di 27 giorni.

Ogni giocatore inizia la stagione con un punteggio XP di 0 punti che aumenta di 1 punto al giorno per ogni zona in cui si è giocato il giorno prima.
E' possibile aumentare il numero di punti XP acquistando i token IXP su Hive Engine per poi bruciarli nella sezione XP->Update XP del gioco.

1 token IXP bruciato = + 1 punto XP nel gioco

Nel mio primo post su Infernal Coliseum che ho pubblicato il 23 gennaio 2023 ho codiviso le mie prime impressioni e il mio primo investimento (post al link seguente).

Oggi mi focalizzo sull'aspetto finanziario di Infernal Coliseum condividendo i risultati finanziari che ho ottenuto dopo 39 giorni di gioco e analizzando più nel dettaglio la tokenomics del gioco.

I token di Infernal Coliseum

I token di Infernal Coliseum sono due:

• SOULS
• IXP

I token SOULS e i token IXP sono token di secondo livello della blockchain di Hive e possono essere venduti, acquistati e trasferiti da uno dei DEX dei token di secondo livello di Hive come ad esempio Hive Engine, TribalDex e LeoDex.

La differenza tra i valori Highest Bid e Lowest Ask è abbastanza marcata ed entrambi i token hanno un volume molto basso ma il gioco è relativamente giovane e molte funzionalità devono essere ancora implementate.

Valutazione del mio investimento su Infernal Coliseum

(39 giorni dopo)

Ogni gioco basato su blockchain diventa anche un investimento nel momento in cui decido di acquistare assets (NFTs e tokens) utilizzando la mia liquidità esterna al gioco.
Oltre agli aspetti strategici e puramente di gioco mi piace tenere traccia dei risultati finanziari collegati ad ogni gioco basato su blockchain in cui gioco.

Total Investment Cost

Il 23 gennaio ho acquistato un Legendary Pack per il quale ho speso 38.167 SWAP.HIVE.

Il Legendary Pack è l'unico acquisto che ho effettuato fino ad ora e rappresenta quindi il costo totale del mio investimento su Infernal Coliseum.

TOTAL VALUE ASSETS (NFTs + Tokens) + REWARDS

All'interno del Legendary Chest ho trovato:

• 46 token IXP
• 15 V2 Packs

Ho aperto tutti i V2 Packs e ho trovato:

• 16 NFT di tipo Hero
• 30 NFT di tipo Farmer

Dei token IXP che ho trovato all'interno del legendary pack ho bruciato solo 25 IXP.

Per calcolare il valore degli NFT in mio possesso ho considerato il prezzo di vendita più basso (Lowest Ask) per ogni NFT presente nella mia collezione.
Per calcolare il valore dei tokens ho considerato il valore Highest Bid.

Per calcolare il costo di acquisto di ogni NFT che ho trovato nel legendary chest che ho aperto ho diviso il costo del legendary cest per il numero di NFTs che ho trovato all'interno.

Il valore totale degli assets di Infernal Coliseum in mio possesso è di 115.73 SWAP.HIVE = 49.53$.

NOTA IMPORTANTE: 115.73 SWAP.HIVE è un valore stimato! che diventa un valore reale solo nel momento in cui vendo tutti i miei assets al prezzo di vendita più basso presente oggi sul mercato.

Calcolo del PROFIT e del ROI

Con i dati che ho raccolto posso calcolare i risultati finanziari (Profit e ROI) della mia attività di gioco e del mio investimento su Infernal Coliseum.

In 39 giorni ho ottenuto:

• un Profit di 77.56 SWAP.HIVE = 33.20$
• un ROI del +203.21%

Analisi dei Risultati Finanziari

I risultati che ho mostrato nel paragrafo precedente sono degli ottimi risultati:

• Profit: 77.56 SWAP.HIVE
• ROI: +203.21%

Ma sono solo risultati teorici/stimati!

Per valutare un investimento in un gioco blockchain e/o per decidere se investire in un gioco basato su blockchain è necessario fare un'analisi più approfondita e valutare:

• l'effettiva vendibilità degli NFTs sul mercato
• il valore delle ricompense di gioco in rapporto al valore dell'investimento effettuato.

Quanti NFTs di Infernal Coliseum sono stati venduti fino ad ora e a quale prezzo?

Non sono stato in grado di trovare le risposte alla precedente domanda perchè nel server discord di Infernal Coliseum c'è una sezione market ma non è presente nessuna informazione sulle carte vendute ma solo informazioni sulle carte messe in vendita.

Questo può significare solo una delle due seguenti opzioni:

• Opzione 1: nessuna carta di Infernal Coliseum è stata venduta fino ad ora
• Opzione 2: il bot non rilascia le informazioni sulle carte vendute

Se è vera la Opzione 1 il calcolo del valore stimato della mia collezione di carte perde molto del suo valore.
Se è vera la Opzione 2 il team di Infernal Coliseum dovrebbe mettere a disposizione dei giocatori queste informazioni.

E' importante comunque considerare che Infernal Coliseum anche se giocabile è un gioco molto giovane e in fase di sviluppo e che molte funzionalità saranno aggiunge in futuro.
Tra l'altro quando un gioco è giovane e ha pochi giocatori il mercato degli NFTs ha spesso poche transazioni e anche se le carte non hanno mercato al momento potrebbero comunque averlo in futuro se il gioco aumenterà il numero dei suoi giocatori ma le informazioni di acquisto e vendita dovrebbero essere sempre a disposizione del giocatore/investitore e di facile ricerca.

Adesso passo a valutare le ricompense dell'attività di gioco.

Ho iniziato l'ultima stagione di Infernal Coliseum con:

• 50 punti XP
• 47 NFT da utilizzare nelle zone di gioco.

Con 50 XP ho iniziato a inviare i miei NFTs in quattro zone di gioco.
Man mano che i miei punti XP sono aumentati ho aumentato il numero di zone di gioco e l'ultimo giorno della stagione sono stato in grado di ricoprire otto zone di gioco con un guadagno in XP di 8 punti XP al giorno.

Nota: Ho saltato 5 giorni di gioco e quindi i miei punti XP e le mie rewards sarebbero potute essere leggermente maggiori e ho terminato la stagione con un punteggio XP superiore a 165 punti.

In 25 giorni effettivi di gioco, partendo da 50 XP e con 47 Heroes a disposizione ho ricevuto 32.19 SOULS come ricompensa il cui valore è di 0.22 HIVE (Highest Bid) e corrisponde allo 0.57% del mio investimento iniziale.

Le ricompense stagionali sono state sufficienti a farmi ripartire con 50 XP nella stagione in corso?

Ci sono due possibilità per ottenere i punti XP:

• acquistare i token IXP dal mercato per poi bruciarli
• bruciare i token SOULS nella IXP Pool

Se acquisti 50 IXP dal mercato spendi 11.88 SWAP.HIVE (Lowest Ask) e spendi 0.2376 SWAP.HIVE per IXP.

Se bruci i token SOULS nella IXP Pool ottieni un quantitativo di IXP in proporzione a quanti SOULS hai messo nella pool e in rapporto al totale di SOULS immessi da tutti i giocatori.

Spendere 11.88 SWAP.HIVE per ottenere 50 IXP non era assolutamente un opzione per me e così ieri ho immesso nella IXP pool 31 SOULS

Bruciando 31 SOULS Ho ottenuto 41.6667 IXP.

Acquistare oggi 31 SOULS ha un costo di 3.9369 SWAP.HIVE (lowest ask).
Questo vuol dire che ho speso molto meno rispetto all'acquisto diretto dei token IXP: 0.0984225 SWAP.HIVE per IXP Vs 0.2376 SWAP.HIVE/IXP.

Le ricompense di un'intera stagione non sono state sufficienti a farmi ripartire dallo stesso numero di XP della precedente stagione!

Facendo una semplice proporzione ho calcolato il quantitativo di token SOULS che avrei dovuto bruciare per ripartire con 50 XP nella stagione in corso: 37.19 SOULS.

37.19 SOULS = 4.7230 HIVE

Perchè ad esempio un nuovo giocatore che ha i miei stessi NFT dovrebbe spendere 4.7230 HIVE per partire con 50 XP per ricevere come ricompensa in un'intera stagione 32.19 SOULS che hanno un valore di:

• 2.4626 SWAP.HIVE se venduti in base al valore Highest Bid
• 4.08809781 SWAP.HIVE se venduti in base al valore Lowest Ask ??????

Non vedo nessun motivo valido per farlo!

Final Considerations

La mia prima impressione su Infernal Coliseum è stata positiva e lo è tutt'ora perchè:

• mi piace il tema del gioco
• mi piace l'idea alla base del gioco
• è un gioco che richiede poco tempo per essere giocato
• è un gioco divertente perchè si possono adottare diverse strategie

MA ci sarebbero tante cose da rivedere e migliorare...

• il whitepaper è molto sintetico e andrebbe ampliato per fornire maggiori informazioni
• le informazioni reperibili sul sito sono poche e un nuovo giocatore non è incentivato ad iniziare a giocare.
• IL SISTEMA DELLE RICOMPENSE VA TOTALMENTE MODIFICATO E MIGLIORATO

Quando un gioco è giovane come Infernal Coliseum non è tanto importante il valore dei tokens ricevuti come ricompensa ma è importante che il giocatore possa giocando accumulare ricompense e non spenderle tutte per rigiocare nella stagione successiva.

Secondo me:

• se il costo dei token IXP diventa troppo alto da annullare le ricompense di gioco di un nuovo giocatore il team dovrebbe subito intervenire
• se il rapporto di valore IXP/SOULS rimane quello attuale dovrebbe essere rimosso o di molto allungato il periodo di reset dei punti XP.

La mia personale conclusione è che Infernal Coliseum è un progetto che ha potenziale per diventare un bel gioco da tutti i punti di vista ma allo stato attuale non è così e per il momento non è un gioco che consiglio a chi non è abituato a fare calcoli e valutazioni prima di acquistare un token o un NFT!

Continuerò a giocare sperando che avvengano cambiamenti nella stagione in corso.
Nella stagione in corso brucerò tutte le ricompense che otterrò per aumentare il mio punteggio XP e per cercare di coprire il maggior numero di zone possibili.

Fra 30 giorni, alla fine della stagione attualmente in corso, rivaluterò finanziariamente e dal punto di vista dell'user friendliness Infernal Coliseum.

Spero che le mie valutazioni siano prese nel modo in cui le ho pensate e scritte e cioè come critiche costruttive da parte di un giocatore a cui Infernal Coliseum piace!
