Bots Considerations + My Card Collection Optimisation: Focus on cards that can be used in the Modern Format!

dividerHive2.png

I currently play in the Ranked Battles of the Wild Format because I have 15 summoners and 292 monster cards of the Beta edition for a total of 2514 BCX that I can only use in the Ranked Battles of the Wild Format.

In my card collection I also have 2908 cards (15396 BCX) of the Chaos Legion, Untamed and Riftwatchers editions that I can use in both Wild and Modern formats.

I play in the Wild Format also because the SPS gain from a battle victory in the Wild Format is greater than the SPS gain from a battle victory in the Moder Format.

As you can see from the data provided by https://splex.gg/tools/reward_pools the comparison of the average gain obtainable from a battle victory is always greater in the Wild Format than in the Modern Format.

image.png

Even though I play in the Wild Format I plan to move permanently to the Modern Format because I am looking forward to the introduction of anti-bot measures in the Modern Format that the Splinterlands team is working on.

I have always considered Bots to be the biggest problem in Splinterlands and the biggest danger to the future prospects of Splinterlands.

dividerHive1.png

4 questions for those who think Bots should be allowed on Splinterlands

dividerHive2.png

I have absolutely nothing against bots users or bots creators because the use of bots has been allowed/tolerated by Splinterlands to this day but in my opinion bots can only kill any skill-based game in the medium-long term and I challenge anyone to prove me otherwise by answering the following four questions with real examples and concrete demonstrations:

  • Question 1: How many real players like to play a game full of bots?
  • Question 2: Is there a game in the landscape of web 2.0 and 3.0 games that has been successful in the medium to long term thanks to bots?
  • Question 3: Why do popular web 2.0 games that do not distribute tokens and rewards ban players who use bots?
  • Question 4: If bots, as some bots users say, have positive effects on the Splinterlands ecosystem and have positive effects on the value of tokens would it be logical and advantageous to introduce some anti-real player measures?

Obviously, the last question is a provocation, but it shows how illogical the motives of bots users often are in trying to justify their use.

The only bots that in my opinion should be allowed on Splinterlands are the bots created and managed by Splinterlands which do not collect rewards but only serve the purpose of improving the gameplay experience of the players by, for example, allowing them to reduce the waiting time for a battle in time windows where the number of real players is small.

In the current state I understand that it is not possible to remove bots from Splinterlands immediately but I hope that the development team is planning to do so at least in the medium term otherwise Splinterlands will not survive in the long run and if this is the thought of a player like me who has always loved Splinterlands and has never used bots then you can make your own personal considerations...

Fortunately in the near future the Modern Format leagues will be free of bots and will be the only leagues I will play in!

dividerHive1.png

My Card Collection Optimisation: Focus on cards that can be used in Modern Format!

dividerHive2.png

My card collection plays well in the Gold leagues of the Wild Format, but my current goal is to build a card collection that will play well in the Diamond leagues of the Modern Format, so I need to continue to increase the battle strength of my card collection by focusing on cards that can be used in the Modern Format:

  • cards from the Untamed edition
  • Cards from the Chaos Legion edition
  • cards from the Riftwatchers edition

Today I'm sharing some of my purchase/upgrade goals that I hope will allow me to increase the battle strength of my collection and allow me to achieve my gaming goal in Modern Format, and I'm also sharing the reasons behind my purchase/upgrade choices.

As my first upgrade goal today I chose a legendary card from the Chaos Legion edition: Legionnaire Alvar.

image.png

In my card collection I have 20 Chaos Legion edition legendary cards above level three but among them there is no Legionnaire Alvar.

image.png

I only have one copy of Legionnaire Alvar but I rarely use it in battle because Legionnaire Alvar of level 1 is not a very useful card in battle in Gold+ leagues because it only has two attack points, can only attack from the first position, has a low speed (2) and has a low speed (2) and only has 1 ability (Void Armor).

I decided to add to my collection League Alvar level 3 which is in my opinion the level that has the best battle utility/cost ratio.

image.png

Legionaire Alvar level 3 becomes a much more useful card in battle because it add the Void Armor ability to the Giant Killer ability (Does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana) and Demoralize (Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters).

Legionaire Alvar at level 3 is a card that could be very useful in High Mana Battles that have certain rulesets such as:

  • Up Close & Personal
  • Melee Mayhem
  • Super Sneak

If Legionnaire Alvar had also had the Taunt ability it would have been a Must Buy Card but even without the Taunt ability it is a card that in my opinion is worth keeping in one's card collection because it has a relatively low purchase price:

  • $2.90 Low Buy
  • $2.18 Low Buy for BCX.

Furthermore, the current market value of Legionnaire Alvar is among the lowest values recorded in a 180-day time span as you can see from the following chart (source: https://monstermarket.io/price-histor).

image.png

As a method of purchase I chose to make a BID via the Make Bid functionality available in the Market section of Peakmonsters and in the following image you can see the value of my bid.

image.png

If my purchase offer will be accepted I will be able to add level 3 Legionnaire Alvar to my collection and I will have spent a total of $10.91 to buy 5 BCX.

image.png

As a second upgrade objective I chose the Angelic Mandarin card.

image.png

More than 6 months ago I sold many copies of Angelic Mandarin because I had Spirit Hoader in my collection which I always preferred to Angelic Mandarin.

After the introduction of the Going To Distance battle rule, ranged cards have become more useful in battle, and Angelic Mandarin is one of only 4 ranged cards usable in the Modern Format to have the Triage ability.

image.png

The purchase price per BCX of Angelic Mandarin is one of the lowest recorded in a 180 day interval, so I decided to upgrade Angelic Mandarin from level 1 to max level right away by purchasing 104 BCX .

image.png

In this case and because of the low price per BCX I chose to use https://monstermarket.io/ to make the immediate purchase of 105 BCX.
I spent 12630.44 DEC and received a cashback of 378.91 DEC.

image.png

I also did some more upgrades today and started with cards that had a relatively low upgrade cost:

  • Venari Spellsmith: level 5 -> level 6.
  • Shadow Snitch: level 6 -> level 8.
  • Zyvax Vuul: level 1 -> level 2.
  • Life Sapper: level 4 -> level 7.
  • Dhampir Stalker: level 1 -> level 6.

image.png

With the upgrades I made today I spent a total of about 32$ but I added some cards with better stats to my collection which will be especially useful in the battles of the modern format leagues when they will finally be without bots!

I hope I have given you useful information and thank you for taking the time to read my post :)

dividerHive1.png

dividerHive1.png

My Card Collection Optimization: Focus sulle carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format!

dividerHive2.png

  • carte dell'edizione Untamed
  • carte dell'edizione Chaos Legion
  • carte dell'edizione Riftwatchers

image.png

Legionaire Alvar di livello 3 diventa una carta molto più utile in battaglia perchè aggiunge all'abilità Void Armor anche le abilità Giant Killer (Does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana) e Demoralize (Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters).

  • Up Close & Personal
  • Melee Mayhem
  • Super Sneak

  • Venari Spellsmith: level 5 -> level 6
  • Shadow Snitch: level 6 -> level 8
  • Zyvax Vuul: level 1 -> level 2
  • Life Sapper: level 4 -> level 7
  • Dhampir Stalker: level 1 -> level 6

Question 2: Is there a game in the landscape of web 2.0 and 3.0 games that has been successful in the medium to long term thanks to bots?

This question / analysis is the kind of thing that keeps asking me why does splinterlands accept bots when practically no other game accepts or allows this, not even hive's own games like rising star and golem overload (if I'm not mistaken) that they don't allow.

When they talk about bots, they say that it is for the health of the economy, in my view this fell to the ground, because when entering the sps stake to decide the % of rewards, the cards and their CP became obsolete, so the rent is Buying cards to move up in the league makes no sense, now, normal, human players, in a perfect world, if only they existed, would continue buying and renting cards to move up in the league and get better rewards.

Ah, but the battles would take hours to happen because there wouldn't be enough players, simple, ranked battles would become queues, just like brawl and tournament, you start the battle in ranked, assemble the teams, these battle data are in one database / queue and as soon as another player clicks on battle and thus takes his record he assembles the teams and so the battle happens afterwards. That splash screen that appears after a victory or defeat could still appear in sequence or simply have a list showing how your battle history was.

In my opinion Splinterlands did not expect bots to become a problem but today they are a big problem for the future of Splinterlands...

Ah, but the battles would take hours to happen because there wouldn't be enough players, simple, ranked battles would become queues, just like brawl and tournament

The solution to avoid waiting for the start of a battle is easy and simple because it is a solution adopted by many web 2.0 games: bots created by Splinterlands that do not collect rewards but intervene in time windows where there are few active players.

When I started playing the game, there were far fewer players than now and there were no bots.
It rarely happened that there weren't enough players and the battles in which I couldn't find a player can be counted on the fingers of my hands ;)
Waiting for matches won't be a problem in my opinion and if it was it will be solvable ;)

Thanks for your comment

I wouldn't mind the anti-bot features if the splinterlands team did create the bots and it didn't affect the rewards pool. However, I wonder just how much of the activity right now is bot activity.

I have the same curiosity as you.
I once checked an account and saw that it had more than 100 active bots.
One thing I am sure about, when there are no bots in the Modern Format the rewards will be much much higher for real players ;)

!BEER
