New Ranked Rewards VS Old Ranked Rewards:

Two Seasons Comparison, Calculations and Considerations

dividerHive2.png

Just over 3 days ago season number 74 of Splinterlands ended, which was the first season in which new Ranked Rewards were introduced.

In two of my previous and recent posts, I showed and explained the theory behind the new Ranked Rewards mechanism and made a comparison between the New Daily Focuses and the old Daily Quests by comparing in percentage terms the probability of chest contents before and after the introduction of the new Ranked Rewards.

image.png

New Ranked Rewards: I Like Them! / Nuovo Meccanismo di Ricompensa (ENG/ITA)
New Ranked Rewards: New Daily Focus VS Old Daily Quest - Comparison, Calculations and Considerations

Today I want to move from theory to practice and in this post:

  • I will compare the total value of the rewards I got in the previous two seasons of Splinterlands
  • I will show how to check whether the total value of the rewards I received is a lucky or unlucky value
  • I will share the goal I have set for the current season.

dividerHive1.png

Two Seasons Comparison

dividerHive2.png

In order to compare the value of the rewards I got with the two different reward mechanisms, I created a table and thanks to the My Explorer->Rewards section of the useful Peakmonsters site, I was able to check and enter the following data into my table:

  • the quantity of chests received for each Daily Quest completed, for each Daily Focus completed, and for each of the two end-of-season rewards.
  • the content of the chests that I opened:
    • number of cards
    • number of potions
    • number of packs of cards
    • total amount of DEC tokens.

Then I calculated the total dollar value of the cards and DEC tokens I received in the previous two seasons.

image.png

The first difference I noticed when I looked at the data in the two tables is that in the season with Old Ranked Rewards I completed fewer Daily Quests (13) than in the previous season where I completed 14 Daily Focus.

Although, when the old Ranked Rewards were active I completed one less daily mission, I received a greater total number of chests (171 VS 150).

The second difference that immediately jumps out at me is the total amount of DEC tokens accumulated over the two seasons:

  • 709 tokens DEC in the season with the old Ranked Rewards
  • 17472 DEC tokens in the season with the new Ranked Rewards.

In the following table, I compared and calculated the numerical and percentage differences of the rewards obtained during the past two seasons.

image.png

In the first season with the new Ranked Rewards I obtained:

  • a lower number of chests: 150 VS 171 (-12.28%)
  • a lower number of cards: 66 VS 77 (-14.29%)
  • a higher number of potions: 40 VS 36 (+11.11%)
  • a higher number of card packs: 5 VS 4 (+25%)
  • a much greater quantity of DEC tokens: 17472 VS 709 (+2364.32%**)

The total value of rewards has improved a lot:

  • $28.30 vs $14.07
  • +14.23$
  • +101.10%

image.png

I close the balance of my first season with the new Ranked Rewards in a very positive way.

dividerHive1.png

Luck or Bad Luck?

Actual Value - Estimated Value

dividerHive2.png

But was I lucky or unlucky to receive a reward with a total value of $28.30?

With the new Ranked Rewards each player can only receive one type of chests depending on the maximum league achieved during the previous season.

The chests I received in the previous season were the Diamond chests.

To see if I was lucky or unlucky, I need to compare the total estimated value of 150 Diamond chests with the total value of the rewards I actually found within the 150 chests I opened during the previous season.

Knowing the estimated value of a chest based on its type is easy because this value is calculated by the useful Splintercards site: https://www.splintercards.com/index.html (see image below).

image.png

The difference between the effective total value of the contents of the 150 chests I opened and the estimated total value of 150 Diamond chests is -6.04$.
This negative value indicates to me that I was unlucky because I should have received a higher total value of the rewards of $34.35 instead of $28.30.

image.png

I was already happy when I saw that I had improved the value of the rewards by +101.10% but now that I've verified that I was also unlucky I'm even happier because unlucky and lucky affect the short term and since on Splinterlands I have medium to long term goals the total value of the rewards I will receive should also be closer to the estimated total value in the medium to long term and thus will be greater ;)

dividerHive1.png

My current season goal

dividerHive1.png

With the old reward mechanism, my season goal was to reach the Champion III league.

Now, with the new Ranked Rewards, my current season goal is to increase the number of Diamond chests earned during the season by 50 units for a total of 200 Diamond chests.

My personal opinion about the new Ranked Rewards continues to be positive.
It is now necessary to play more time to get a good number of chests but the fun and competitiveness among players has increased, the number of potentially receivable chests has increased, and the estimated value of the chests (Gold+ type) has also increased.

To do this I will have to play more and I will have to follow a slightly different strategy from the previous season.
The strategy I am following and will continue to follow in the current season will be the topic of my next post on Splinterlands and if you like follow me to find out ;)

In conclusion I want to share an image that compactly shows the last end-of-season reward I received.

Are you not a Splinterlands player?

dividerHive2.png

Splinterlands is a beautiful game and it has proved to be a very good investment (at least until now) and if you regularly participate to the weekly contests organized by the @splinterlands account you will recover the registration cost (10$) in a short time.

If you decide to register, you can do it from this link:

https://splinterlands.com?ref=libertycrypto27

of course if you'd like to use my refferal link... :)

Any game that involves the purchase of cards and tokens is never a simple game but it is also an investment and should be considered as such.
I am not a financial consultant and if you decide to invest in the game of Splinterlands you do it for your own choice, after having made your personal evaluations and considered all possible risk factors.

My advice is to always invest only what you can afford to lose with a light heart.

See you on the battlefields of Splinterlands.

Nuove Ranked Rewards VS Old Ranked Rewards

dividerHive1.png

image.png
image.png
New Ranked Rewards: I Like Them! / Nuovo Meccanismo di Ricompensa (ENG/ITA)
New Ranked Rewards: New Daily Focus VS Old Daily Quest - Comparison, Calculations and Considerations

dividerHive1.png

Fortuna o Sfortuna?

Valore effettivo - Valore Stimato

dividerHive2.png

Luck is definitely a factor but I think I get more chests under the current system if I use enough of my dark energy capture rate. Unless I forget or get busy and don't use it all the way. Overall, I do think the changes are good but it requires way more work to get the chests.

Yes, I also have the same opinion as you about the new changes, and I think that although they might still be improvable they are really a good starting point.
