WEEK 148/Weekend Engagement Initiative: My Time Saving Habits

Good day lovelies, This is my entry to the weekend's engagement initiative led by @galenkp.

Time is something no one has to explain to you how valuable it is. The real hustle is how we all manage our time. On some days, I feel that the 24 hours are too short, while on other days, they might seem too long. If you sit back and ponder the amount of time you spend on some unproductive stuff, you will realize how much some of these things can siphon from the fixed 24hours.

To me, saving time is one of the most valuable assets one could have. Everyone has their own time management strategies that work perfectly for them. Once you are able to strategize your utilization of time very well, your productivity will be boosted drastically. I am currently a student, and you can attest that time utilization will be a critical thing for someone like me who has to manage his time to fit his academic and personal schedules at the same time.

I used to procrastinate a lot in my previous years, but I decided to work on my time-saving habits since 2021. Although it was hard at the beginning, I tried to stick to it until today, and if I find an interesting time-saving tip, I do try to implement it. In this post, I will like to share with you three of the time-saving tips I have tried to implement in my life.

1. Being an early bird

Since last year, I have made it a point to always make sure I am up and kicking from bed by 4 a.m.With this, I will have enough time to prepare for the day ahead. As a student, I always try to do the hard tasks first in the morning after brushing and breakfast so that I can handle the rest of the tasks within the subsequent hours. This helps me keep track of my 24 hours and the things I wish to accomplish for the day.

2 . Practicing deep work

This is something I can't fully commit to, but I still try my best to implement it in my life. I am reading a book titled Deep Word, written by Cal Newport, which talks about some rules to help stay focused and avoid distractions. I do try to follow some of the teachings in that book to the best of my ability. Some of the teachings in that book are in line with most of the tips shared by @galenpk in this his post, ( his phone and email policies). I have tried to stay away from my phone and social media handles as long as I can when I want to undertake a task that needs my full concentration. This has helped me a lot in my daily time management.

3. Periodic Evaluating of My Time

This is one tip I always try to stick to. My typical active day is divided into three sections. 4 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then 5 p.m to 11 p.m . Before each section of the day, I ponder on how the previous section was spent and the time I wasted in that section. This has helped me a lot with my time management. I think it was part of the tips shared by Galen, and I have been strict with that one since. I use productivity tools like notion (on my PC) and Samsumg Notes (on my phone) to keep track of my tasks.

There are a lot of other things I do to save time. These are some of the most important tips I rely on. This writing suggestion reminds me of @galenkp's post I read here some time ago, which has been part of me since then because I decided to implement most of the tips he shared in that post. It was a very impactful post. I suggest you read the post to also benefit from those pro tips.
Thanks for your time.
