Too Early To Judge

Some apps and games are currently doing very well on the HIVE blockchain and that's showing directly in the value of the base token (HIVE)... It is over 50c for over a month and we remember the time when it was around only 10c... Diesel pools are doing great, CUBDeFi is growing every day and expanding, and gaming is the hot topic these days with Splinterlands pushing the limits up and up... Rising Star has doubled the number of players in the last month too, so it's not just one game...

Still, while I (@ph1102) was checking some content and comments on Hive, I have found some opinions with a completely different view... It has surprised me to see that from people on "this side of the crypto" and I have tried to understand it... Long story short, the comment was about the fact that gaming on the blockchain isn't that fun as it should be... Also, the point was that 90% of the games have a similar structure and more-less similar "gameplay"...

To be honest, I do agree on a certain level with those arguments... Yes, you can earn crypto by playing these games, and they can be fun (if you like that type of game), but we still need some diversity in gaming genres to attract more players OUTSIDE the crypto... All that is some valid point, but...

We are still in a VERY EARLY stage of blockchain gaming a lot of people can't see the BIG picture here... Even developers of games can't see all the potential that can be built on! And that's normal to see... We didn't have an idea about Defi just 2-3 years ago, about blockchain games 4-5 years, and about blockchain in general 10 years ago... I don't want to remind you that blockchain and crypto have been listed as the worst things for all these 10 years, as everyone wanted to kill it...

So, we have to have in mind that what we currently see in blockchain gaming is just a tip of an iceberg and we have another 99% to discover in the future... Have patience, give it a chance, and earn some crypto on the way there!

I am very supportive of the Hive platform and all of the various communities. There will always be people that make negative comments. I have learned to listen but to make my own opinion.

I can accept negative comments, but I'm sorry to see people here that can't see the big picture out there... When you don't see that, you are limiting yourself heavily for all the good things that come after...

Even if you are negative, you should still keep that door open...

I have learned to listen but to make my own opinion.

That's the most valuable thing that we can have... Our OWN opinion!

Zoltan, is there a way to see the overall value of your Rising Star cards? Right now it doesn't really matter to me since I only have several, but in the future this will certainly grow. Slow and steady.

And you are right, players shouldn't give up a blockchain game easily, because it can explode at any time. But also they need to see at the other end there's still someone developing the game and telling them the news about it.

Slow and steady wins the race. If you are willing to reinvest your stabits earning, you will definitely be able to increase the number of cards you have. Feel free to partake in the various Rising Star giveaways.

I tried 1 or 2 at the very beginning, but I feel I'm taking advantage and I leave it to others mostly.

I don't mind participating in them and my way of contributing back is to make my own giveaway each week. In a way, the giveaways helped me process in the game and I am now doing my part to help others progress.

I used to have giveaways early on the other chain. They were an ok way to get some followers, but engagement was generally limited to the giveaways.

I don't know of any tool that can give you the overall value of RS cards... :(

Regarding RS, I'm focused on growing my account with a "fixed" amount of packs that I open during 1 week... If I have more STARBITS than I need, I buy some "discontinued" cards just to fill the holes in my collection...

So, in a nutshell, I reinvest almost all my "profits" at the moment... Only earnings are daily payments in HIVE for ranking...
When I reach my goal, I will probably start with selling some STARBITS regularly and take off some chips from the table... So, I'm more in selling tokens than cards, as I think that cards are like wine... :) More valued if they are older... :) Just my 2c and not financial advice... :)

Certainly. Same way as SL. But it's good to know how much you have locked in your cards collection.

Thanks for the little insight in your strategy.

Splinterlands took years to take off and most games need some kind of catalyst. However this catalyst usually doesn't take off over night so I would just continue doing what you can. Hive is doing great in this regard and I don't mind if it's under the radar

This is something that people tend to forget... Splinterlands didn't start when they started with SPS airdrop, it needed multiple years to get here where it is...

I agree that it was premature to make any judgements. At the moment, games are giving the biggest boost to the Hive blockchain, that's a fact. But, progress is everywhere, at all levels. We are at an early stage, well, as I mentioned somewhere, games will certainly remain as some part of future service but I am sure something else will emerge. !PIZZA

Indeed... Who knows what next is waiting for us in the blockchain world... The good thing is that we are here and prepared!
