Since when are you in crypto ?

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

In our last week's mission, we asked you to guess the price of BTC of today and you very very numerous to take part. At the moment of doing this video, the price of BTC, according to Coingecko, was $20'185. Among all the people taking part in the challenge, it was @gadrian that was closest with $20'074. He was only 111$ away and he will get a little bonus in the form of 20 LEN tokens.

While looking at the chart of BTC, I had an idea for today's mission...

The challenge of this week

When looking at the evolution of BTC, I would like to ask you when you joined the crypto world and how it happened?

Write your answer as a comment below this post to take part in the Liotes Mission.

The Liotes Mission

By taking part in the Liotes missions, you can win credits that will help you to increase your score and your title in the Liotes Ranking.

People who submit an answer will get 4 credits for the Liotes ranking.

We are very grateful if you enter the challenge within 24 hours after the post is published. We will try to count entries up to 36 hours after publication.

When... 🤔 I think it's around 2013-2014 when I'm still in senior high school? I was a penny pincher in faucets and gpt (get-paid-to) websites 🤔 It was easy to get 0.01 BTC/week in click2dad before... Sadly, I didn't know that the price would be like today 🤣

😱 That was a nice chunk of mined BTC by clicking ads!!! Half Bitcoin in a year! :)

Yes and I was dumb to buy a mobile credit with BTC before... it cost like crazy if calculate it with today's price... 🤣 I never thought BTC will be increasing like today.

I joined the crypto world in January 2021, playing a lot of GameFi at first.
Have a great day.

I learned about BTC in 2015 and I started buying it during that time because the price was cheaper ($300+) and it was quite easy to buy 1 whole of it. Unfortunately, I didn't see the potential of it so I kept using them to pay for my bills, lol!

I think I heard that kind of a story... I know the guy who bought even before that day and SOLD with a loss... Don't ask for a name... lol... :)

I believe it was 2013 or something like that...

I don't really remember when exactly, but it was the time of Bitcoin and I was still able to exchange it for some reasonable fee. I remember participating in various forums and then collecting my coins in the main Blockchain wallet and scraping faucets. It was a long time ago.

Around that time I bought my first BTC too! Deposited on Bitstamp as it was one of a few exchanges...

Oh wow! I'm a genius! I should become an oracle for bitcoin's future price, lol.

A day earlier and I would have been a fool instead of a "genius". :)

On a serious note, I don't see myself much of a price guesser. Beginner's luck. Thanks for the bonus. But instead of sending me the bonus, why not add it to the reward pool on LEN:LENM? ;)

Btw, we are waiting for your answer to the (mission) question... Since when are you in crypto?

My Coinbase account was created back in 2014. That's when I poked around in some freelancer site that was crypto-oriented too. But I bought my first bitcoin piece (not a whole one) in 2015, I think. Not too serious about it until steem time, though.

Cool to hear your story! I started maybe 2 years ago or so claiming free tokens from coinbase but I was gifting them to people or selling them straight away. Only last year I have given them a portfolio % allocation.

Well, it's never too late to start accumulating! We still have 2-3 years before all the big boys come...

I got hooked by one of those crypto seminar things back in 2017. Bitcoin was about $3000 at the time. As I've said in the past, I managed to 15x my account by Jan of 2018 and then I promptly watched it go all the way back down to less than I put in when the covid crash hit. I'm a HODLer.

Again, as I've said before, my only regret is that I didn't keep buying when it went back down. I got back into it almost 2 years ago when Bitcoin rebounded back to $15-$20k and I've been accumulating things ever since. This time around, I'm continuing to add and build while things are down. I've become more a HIVE ecosystem maximalist though. I don't have much outside of this realm because I really believe HIVE and some of it's tribes are going to eventually crack the mainstream.

Either way, I only put in what I can afford to lose so hopefully it will all pan out someday.

Thanks for sharing your story! Somewhere around 2017, I went also to my first Blockchain conference... I was already into ETH mining, but it was great to attend it and learn a lot about the blockchain and its potential!

In 2018 I wanted to start learning to code and while searching for info I somehow got derailed and bought BTC and got hooked. So here I am!

It looks the 2017-2018 bull run was very powerful... :) A lot of people onboarded crypto around that time... ;)

Ahh my guess was so close!

My first exposure to cryptos was in 2017 I think, when bitcoin shot up to 20,000 and was in the news everyday. There weren't many options at that time and I recalled trying to create an account at Coinbase but was stuck at the KYC, so I gave up.

Fast forward to Sep 2019, I signed up for some accounts and did some purchases in order to get some referral bonus/signup bonus. I remembered buying BTC and ETH because I didn't know the rest. At that time, BTC was around 10,000 and ETH was around 200, and it was then I started buying a small amount every month for quite some time.

That was a nice entry price! I remember buying 1 ETH around that time for my son's birthday present... :)

I got into crypto in late 2018, probably, just with a BTC farming game (which ended up disappearing) and a few faucets. Then I found Hive in early summer of 2020, thanks to @risingstargame and my knack for unsuccessful blogging.

And the rest, as they say, is history. 😎

I was still studying during the 2017 - 2018 bull run. Didn't have a lot to spend on crypto. I owned a little bit on coinbase I believe. Didn't have my own wallet at that time. Now I make transactions with my wallets every day. A lot has changed.

Speaking of wallets and changes... I remember that I was using the JAXX wallet back then and I'm still using it for small transactions! Unknown wallet to most people, but it does its job!

I don't know exactly. I think I wrote once before that for some work, after a year, a guy owed me money and said he didn't have any money but could give me bitcoins. OK, I said, because I had read something about it. And I made a wallet. And he sent me 7 or 8 BTC. It was about $150, somewhere in 2013. And I forget everything... :)
But somewhere in the summer of 2017 I saw that the price was just over $2000! I was rich! I sold it for a fiat and bought a motorhome. I kept half a Bitcoin and I still have it today. That's the story. :) 😎

Joined during peak crypto at the end of last year 😰. I'm ok with bear markets though, seen it often enough in the stock market. Anyway, it was all thanks to Splinterlands. Got injured and was stuck at home for abit and chanced upon the game. 🤣

I saw BTC when it was less than a dollar but I never really bought into crypto until BTC was like 10k. I would have to say that I started investing during the lockdowns.

5 years ago I bought some ETH to buy cards in Gods Unchained and stopped playing it shortly after, but I actually joined the crypto world with Hive last year in august. It was later that year in december when I first bought BTC, and DCAing ever since.

DCA-ing into BTC in the last couple of months should create a nice chunk of value in a year or two!
I have "deployed" most of my fiat already into crypto, so not too much for DCA atm :)

Hi. My first contact with crypto was through Steemit in 2019. After a couple of years of too much work for very little money in Stock Illustrations, I went searching for better opportunities to monetize my art & photography skills. Before that, I barely heard about Bitcoin. I remember some people that were considering themself kinda experts in all things related to computers, mentioned it, but nobody could give me an explanation that doesn't sound like some mumbo jumbo stuff. 😃 A year or two later, when I got interested in crypto through blogging, I found out that they had no idea what is crypto actually.

In the first year on Steemit, I learned a thing or two but wasn't very interested really. Only with HIVE, I was pushed deeper into the meaning of decentralization, and freedom. And stuff like that. It sounds much more exciting when you can see the bigger picture and all the sociological and psychological implications.
Now I have the habit to listen to tons of crypto-related videos on YouTube and 3Speak while preparing the themes and photographs for my future posts.

Well, you are right about that! I think that the image is still like that and that min 95% have no idea what crypto and blockchain are...

The first thing that I have done back in 2017 was to go to the blockchain conference and find out what the f* is that at all... And it helped me a lot with motivation and focus! It's easier to HODL and accumulate when you KNOW how powerful is blockchain tech and crypto!

I was close at 20K guess but I'm glad it was higher than that. I'm waiting it out and trying to keep busy with RL goals so I won't be impatient. !LOL

Well, I got into crypto when I joined Hive. Before that, I was busy with offline life that I have not had the chance to check out about cryptocurrency. It's going to be my third year on Hive come August. I guess I'm still learning a lot about crypto. Basically I need to learn when to HODL and when to sell for profit.

I mined some bitcoin back in 2009/2010 when it was starting up. However the cost of the electric bill was much higher than the value of the bitcoin mined. Cycle back 12 years later and I am playing Splinterlands with my brother.

I had heard about crypto in the news for a long time (over a decade). I just thought it was more complicated and that you needed a computer to get involved and that mining was the only way unless you purchased it on the market outright. A little over a year ago, I was introduced to Hive by ClickTrackProfit. I thought this would be a good way to learn more about crypto without being forced to make a large investment.
