Another Eye Surgery and an Early Christmas and Birthday Present for Dad -- My Friday This Week!

Today started out pretty early for us, 4:30 a.m. to be exact. My sister and Dad had to be on the road at 5 a.m. to get to the hospital for his eye surgery by 6. The surgery was after 7 but they wanted him there for pre op stuff.

While they were gone and as arranged, Dad's early birthday and Christmas gift arrived via a delivery from Best Buy. That was at 8:14 this morning. We must have been the first delivery stop. They brought it in the house and down to the basement. And then it was up to Roy and I to get it set up.

They had instructions to get the box off of the TV. There were clips at the bottom of the box on both sides that had to be taken out and the top of the box lifted off the TV. That was a bit of a challenge because well the basement ceiling is pretty low. This house was not built for taller people.

We took everything off the dining table and put a moving blanket down before we took the TV out of the box the rest of the way. We also had to dismantle his older set up with the TV that was there for decades and was actually big at the time they got it.

Roy measured everything several times before he even ordered it but took one more measurement before we picked it up to carry over to the TV stand. Whew, he measured correctly just like he thought.

My Dad has alot of decorations around and some of it had to be moved so Roy could get behind the TV to get it connected. My Dad is all about using every bit of space to put something in or on.

And here is the TV turning on for the first time!

So now Dad will get to watch the Packers vs. Bears in style on Sunday. In fact while my sister was waiting for my Dad's surgery to get done we were messaging her with the set up progress. She saw it was on and wanted to see how ESPN looked on it.
This pic is a little dark but you can see the TV is taller than me. TVisTallerThanMe.jpg

My Dad and sister got home just after 1 p.m. CST and when my Dad saw the TV he was shocked. My sister had to remind him not to get emotional and start crying because he just had eye surgery. Apparently it went well but we will have to wait for a week to really know for sure. And he isn't supposed to wear his eye patch during that time. That will be rough for him because he has been using it for like 2 years now.

Now I need to go downstairs and start getting dinner prep going. We are having ham, scalloped potatoes and roast brussel sprouts. A nice fall dinner. Hope Dad feels okay to have dinner. No martini for him tonight. Too many drugs from the surgery.

Have a great rest of your day and see you tomorrow!

That was a great surprise to give your Dad. I bet he will love watching the football games on it. I am glad the eye surgery went well. Take care.

Thanks, David! He is enjoying it even more today. He was kind of wiped out after his surgery yesterday so he mostly napped and rested. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by with a nice comment. 😀
