Learning The Parts of Word Press That We Don't See!

Today was the fourth day of the Geekapalooza event I signed up for and the live event this morning was a two hour plus webinar and two hours of it was content.
Remember yesterday I mentioned that there was a bonus for everyone who signed up for the event?

That bonus is what we got the training for today as well as learning how to use Local (Local Wordpress Development Tool).

Julia, the woman who created and ran the event was given permission by Studio Press and WP Engine to give all of us access to Magazine Pro a premium Word Press theme for free.

I am also very grateful that I was able to sit and watch the whole training knowing that I will have ongoing access to the replay because I signed up for the VIP upgrade to the event. I know I am going to have many questions to ask in the Facebook group for the event.

One of the things that I learned today is that the Classic Editor in WP is soon not going to be used anymore so the Gutenberg Block Editor is what we all need to learn if we are going to use WordPress. I have two sites with WordPress loaded. Evidently with Local you can just make up as many WP sites as you want to play with and break things and fix them. Kind of cool.

And now the reason why I am so interested in learning this. To be honest, I want to get a really valuable skill with which to get freelance work to fund my other efforts online. That’s it! I don’t want to get a J.O.B. to work for one boss in one company though and I want to be remote (well, at home in my office not necessarily traveling). I am even happy to start out offering services on Fiverr. I even poked around on the FlexJobs site. The jobs they had available there require a couple years of experience though.

I will let you know what I choose to do about moving forward with the course that was mentioned at the end of the webinar today. And she literally didn’t spend very much time selling. She didn’t have to because what has been offered all week for free is pretty amazing to say nothing of the upgrades for the event with ongoing access.

Have a great rest of your day and see you tomorrow!
