Happy holidays friends of the Hive, and if you are not observing or participating in anything have a great day nevertheless! This would be my review of the movie Krampus (2015), its an horror movie so i wont get into the debate if its also a "Christmas Movie" or not, you guys can define it as you see fit haha.

Felices fiestas amigos de la Colmena, y si no están observando o participando en nada, ¡tengan un gran día de todos maneras! Esta sería mi reseña de la película Krampus (2015), es una película de terror, así que no entraré en el debate si también es una "Película de Navidad" o no, ustedes pueden definirla como mejor les parezca jaja.

Plot / Trama

The movie is based on the central european popular legend of The Krampus, a twisted devilish companion of St. Nicholas which punishes bad kids on Christmas by either beating them, eating them of straight up kidnapping them to hell. A family is trapped inside their house with their not so wanted/loved extended family, during a really heavy snow storm, a serious of events among other things cause one of the children (Max) to lose his christmas spirit and strange things start to happen.

La película está basada en la leyenda popular centroeuropea de El Krampus, un retorcido y diabólico compañero de San Nicolás que castiga a los niños malos en Navidad golpeándolos, comiéndolos o directamente llevandoselos directamente al infierno. Una familia está atrapada dentro de su casa con su familia extendida (no tan querida) durante una tormenta de nieve realmente fuerte, una serie de eventos, entre otras cosas, hace que uno de los niños (Max) pierda su espíritu navideño y eso sera el punto de partida para las cosas extrañas y aterradoras que estan por suceder.

Cast / Elenco

Theres nothing much to say here, Adam Scott plays Tom Engel the father of the main family (most famous i would say for his part on "Parks and Recreation") and the other known performer was David Koechner playing Howard, the father of the other family, he is known for playing support or minor roles in several movies and series (Anchorman, The office to name a few of the notable ones). Everyone does and Ok job and not much else to remark or point out, the acting wasnt pretty demanding on the first place for reason i will point out on my conclusion.

No hay mucho que decir aquí, Adam Scott interpreta a Tom Engel, el padre de la familia principal (siendo mas famoso, diría yo, por su papel en "Parks and Recreation") y el otro intérprete conocido fue David Koechner interpretando a Howard, el padre de la otra familia, es conocido por interpretar papeles secundarios o menores en varias películas y series (Anchorman, The office, por nombrar algunas de las más notables). Todo el elenco hace su trabajo correctamente y está bien, no hay mucho más que comentar o señalar, la actuación no fue muy exigente en primer lugar por laz razónes que señalaré mas adelante en mi conclusión.

Final thoughts and Score / Conclusiones y Puntaje

I wont beat around the bush much on this one, the movie is mediocre at best, a total missed opportunity, i mean you wouldnt ask for an instant classic, but the myth of the Krampus have plenty much to give, the film is bland, kinda generic, tries to be somewhat funny, tries to give some scares here an there but seems to fail or accomplish little in every aspect you might want to put your fingers on. Thats why i mentioned earlier actors kinda did their best with was given to them. Its safe to say you could skip this one even if you dont have anything to watch and you might give it a shot. Or you if do lower your expectations to the minimum possible!
My score would be 5/10, not much to add, could have been significantly better with a little more of everything but it definitely felt flat.

No me andaré con rodeos en este caso, la película es mediocre en el mejor de los casos, una oportunidad perdida total, quiero decir que no prentendia un clásico instantáneo de terror (o tal vez navideño?), pero el mito del Krampus tenia mucho que dar, la película es insípida. algo genérica, intenta ser algo divertida, intenta dar algunos sustos aquí y allá, pero parece fallar o lograr poco en todos los aspectos en los que podríamos tratar de rescatar algo. Por eso mencione antes que los actores no tenian tanto para dar, basado en el guion. Es seguro decir que pueden omitir esta pelicula, incluso si no tienen nada que ver... solo recomendaria intentarlo si bajan sus expectativas al mínimo posible.
** Mi puntaje sería 5/10, no hay mucho que agregar, podría ser significativamente mejor con un poquito más de todo, pero definitivamente se sintió que le falto. **
