20220505_002814.jpg

Started back in 2015 the Congo Silverback series alternates between a passive depiction and an aggressive depiction of the silverback gorilla. 2019 is the 5th release of the Congo Silverback Gorilla series. The term Silverback refers to the oldest and the leader of the family of gorilla's, it is not specific to a species of gorilla.

The obverse features a large male gorilla with his mouth wide open in full roar mode. The inscription around the outside says "Gongo Silverback Gorilla 2019 1oz .999 silver".

The reverse has a frosted background with the Congo coat of armes in the center and "Republique Du Congo 5000 Fancs CFA" around the outside.

Found you on listnerds, I inherited some silver coins from my brother but I don't know much about them except they are DutcH ;)

As long as they are at least .999 silver it doesn't matter where they are from. Some coins have lower minting which makes the collector value higher but the price of silver changes all the time.

Well I just checked one of the bags (I have some in a display case and still some I need to brush up) and its 1389 gram of silver coins with 72% silver so it is 1 KG of silver and the coins are Dutch coins that were actually used in the past hence the lower % to make the coin harder (I guess)

That is still really cool and if they are older coins then the value could be even higher especially if they are in good condition.

This coin reminds me of Silverback Stacker when he was still with us on Steem. I'm still in touch with him on Discord and IG.

I don't think I have ever seen him around, I was only in the SGS community a few months with steem.

The coins of the African continent cannot leave you indifferent, the images of animals are magnificent.

Most of the coins are not minted in Africa but you are right they are all very nice.

Yes, not everywhere there are mints, even postage stamp blanks are printed in London, but postage stamps are like a product. published in Cuba.

Another lovely coin added to your collection!
I really miss hunting for the coins currently, but let's hope in a month or so, I will bump on a physical coin store somewhere where we will end up living :)

thanks for sharing yours!

Thanks, I hope you do find a local shop you can check out. So far I have not been to any of the local shops where I live, I really should go have a look at some point. lol

What a nice piece you picked up there. That is really awesome. My father in law would love this I bet. He is a big fan of gorillas. That is where he spends most of his time when we visit the zoo down in Ohio. Thanks for sharing this. I found your post on Listnerds.

Since you are getting silver regularly now you should start doing some posts about it, then over some time you can get into the SGS community.

That's a nice looking coin. That gorilla really does look fierce. Wouldn't want to be up close with one of them in real life. Is this a coin you've had for awhile?
