Quality Is Always The Best Policy.

Quality content is much more engaging then poor content.

It doesn't matter what you post but taking the time to make a quality post will get more attention and upvotes in the end. None of us start out great, it takes some time and practice just like in anything else. You also need the will to always be improving and not just stay in a vicious cycle taking the easy way out for the sake of a few small upvotes.

With the dapps available for your phone it's not a bad thing if you post an occasional picture of something that catches your eye that you want to share while you are out and about. But you don't want to get caught up in just posting a quick picture or screen shot and never putting in any time and effort in creating some good content.

When I say Quality Content, that doesn't mean you need to be writing a prize winning article every time you make a post. I'm not a great writer by any means, in fact when I was in school I was terrible at writing. I failed out in English class, it caused me stress to even try to write and we had no choice if we wanted to pass the class but to write weekly papers on random subjects. I have gotten better over the years but I still don't feel overly comfortable with writing.

A good alternative to writing is doing videos if you are more comfortable with talking then you are with writing. You still want to write a description of what you talk about in the video to get people interested in what your content is about. For me it is much easier to do video and with everyone having a smart phone these days we all have a video camera to work with. I have been trying to get better at writing out posts instead of just rambling on in a video for the simple reason I think writing is a great quality to have and work on improving.

A good question to ask yourself if your posts are not getting attention or not making the upvotes you hope for is "How good of quality is my posts?" If you are doing the bare minimum to put up a post then why would anyone do anything but give you the bare minimum attention to your work? Over time the better quality of your posts the more attention you will get and that means more money in your wallet.
