Greetings and welcome dear readers of this prestigious platform, through these lines of writing I intend to participate in the initiative that promotes us the #CinnamonCupCoffee community which is focused on the Bean War and from which I would like to invite my friend @amestyj.

So let's get down to business.

Luis since his childhood, has been a child with an unparalleled imagination that has had the opportunity to know different places inside and outside our planet, so despite being a young man of 14 years still delights his classmates and family with the details of each of the trips he makes every day through his fascinating dreams.

So it is enough to taste some coffee in his favorite cup and close his eyes for this creative boy to teleport to a world of dreams and experience that only he has been able to live, so far all the experiences have been positive, but since a couple of nights ago he feels uneasy and wakes up in a hurry because he can not control the unattainable scenarios to where his mind takes him.

In a certain way the dreams are no longer so pleasant for Luis and he has entered a kind of lagoon and fear that prevents him from closing his eyes, since he is sure that he will travel to a place of no return.

It has been more than 36 hours without sleep and without tasting his favorite coffee, so that his body begins to destabilize and to ask for his usual drink, without forgetting the nap that everyone needs, sleep is overcoming him and he can't stand it anymore and in his last thoughts he decides to run out to the kitchen to drink his favorite coffee and give himself fully to his imagination.

It was enough with that exquisite smell for his mind to be activated and just by closing his eyes he was already in a new place for him, from which he did not know what to expect, the most difficult and incomprehensible thing is that in his possession was a very old rifle and his clothing was a kind of uniform of the colonial era.

Dismayed with what was happening, he begins to hear loud detonations and in the distance he can see soldiers attacking each other, the nerves invaded the soul of this boy who now looks like an old man who is in the middle of a war from which he does not know how to get out.

To his left he can see a river, Luis is thinking about the possibility of fleeing across it, since he has no idea which army he is fighting for or what the objective of the dispute is.

He does not think more and between shots he is ready to leave that horrible place, crawling through the mud and blood towards the river, he finds a dying soldier, which has been hit by the enemies, Luis decides to help him but realizes that his uniform is different, no doubt part of the enemy side, so he does nothing but follow his transit, since his life is the only thing that matters at that moment.

Unfortunately, Luis' aspirations are cut short, as he has been captured along with approximately 180 other men, who have been made to walk for several days as a way of breaking their strength.

In their journey, exhaustion and fatigue begin to prevail, "at what moment will I wake up from this nightmare" are the words that the young man expresses between the diets, they have managed to reach a kind of barracks where they give a little food to each of the prisoners, and with a little strength a group of more than 80 men decide to flee, unfortunately they do not succeed and because of this act of insurrection now all are punished.

Luis has lost track of time, it has been many days since his capture, suddenly all the prisoners of war are taken to the courtyard, a great military man has arrived and the order and discipline is evident in the barracks, in the distance Luis can glimpse his figure, the man is missing a leg and to his dismay is the leader of the army and that military man who did not help when he tried to flee.

I will not get out of this alive were his thoughts and at that instant the regal words of that military sovereign. "We will not continue to maintain all of you, the food that we invested in you, may well be consumed by our people, so today only 90% of the prisoners will live and 10% will be punished.

Author: Devin G. Thompson

It was Luis' turn to put his hand in that old pot in which 162 pinto beans and 18 black beans had been placed, only the one lucky enough to extract a pinto bean would live, the others would be shot.

In his walk Luis only thinks about how it was possible that his life depended on a bean when this item has never been to his liking, to his right he can observe that tyrant who has taken that horrible decision and in his left hand he can see that cup where a unique and incomparable vapor is expelled, without a doubt it is coffee, the coffee that Luis likes so much.

How horrible to have to depend your life on the color of the bean you manage to get out of your pocket, thank goodness and it all turned out to be an ugly nightmare because living in war must not be easy at all.
Although I know that in the old days things happened that are not at all pleasant for anyone and this is a clear example of it.

Greetings friend @sidalim88, no doubt that your life depends on luck is overwhelming and even more so when you know that 10% is a high percentage that marks the line between living or dying.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a valuable comment.
