The coaching style would be more effective. This way the person being coached can demonstrate competence and reliabilty in getting a task or mission done. After a while, you get left alone so you can focus on what you do best.

Agree. I also prefer a coach in place of one who feels the need to step in every time. With that in mind, I also try to share the knowledge in that manner.

Micromanaging tends to lead to greater problems over the long run. It's also stressful for us and for the micromanager. We don't need that.
