If commenting just for the upvotes, then it makes no difference whether the pill is for a small child or a large horse. Commenting has to be done with intent, with purpose-- beyond wanting the upvote. Offer value, the upvote will take care of itself.

Yes indeed, it's the same with doing good for others. There is no need to share it with everyone or to expect something in return. If you're a good person, somehow you will automatically get something back from the universe.
