Think Big by Ben Carson - Book Review

Think big, by Ben Carson is about giving our best and doing everything we can to help others. It might also be called a book about excellence in service Or dedication. It's not just telling you what to do but giving insights, strategies on how to do it to maximize results.

He use the acrostic THINK BIG where the T stands for Talent, H for Honesty, I for insght, N for nice, K for Knowledge, B for Books, I for In depth thinking, and the last letter G stands for God. The author uses his life experience as an example

The first chapter practically explain how his Mum owned up to her problem at hand as she was quite aware of their poor performance at school which bothered her alot, especially knowing her background and how it affected her personally.

She had a vision of what and how she wanted them to be, so she Prayed to God to help her by giving her wisdom on how to raise them. as raising kids cannot be done without God's guidance, because every child has unique behaviour and only God that created them knows how he wants them to turn out.

She also made them see the Light and she put in the work with full conviction in every step of her children life by instilling Discipline, virtue and Dedication in them which really paid off at the end of the day.

The second Chapter gave us a deep insight into the life of Sonya Carson, a clearer picture of her background. And that taught us that there is always a way out of any situation. It shows how she went through the lowest moment, got up on her feet and took the bold steps that transformed her life from zero to success.

This is applicable to everyone. In the third chapter, Ben Carson dedicates it to the acknowledgement of the special people right from his moment of change (i.e fifth grade) down to his present accomplishments and achievements. Ben Carson reveals the people behind the scene who made him who he is.

He mentions some of his teachers who drew out the best in him. He felt greatly indebted to them all. Yes, Everyone needs a mentor in this life as a tree cannot make a forest until you learn from someone or people.

He tells us how he became attached to his patient, compassionate and nice with having passion to his job. Thus in everything you do Wear your passion on your sleeves. Always do the best you can do per time and If you have people working for you or under you who are trying to solve problems always appreciate them, because This will help them do well.

Having dedicated and committed helpers in the form of Employees is a wish for all, but you too must have being a good staff where you have worked and must be a good Employer as we always gets what we give.

In the subsequent chapters he explains the power of positivity and how honesty pays, having a positive thinking causes what one has faith in to actually come into fulfillment He says, "you are what you think", having taken to heart the words of his mother that says "Everyone can do it but only you can do it better".

THINK BIG is just the perfect word explanation. Honesty for him was a core value that anyone he needed to be close with or vice versa. He had to hold in high self-esteem the need to be honest, always referring to the Bible. And as such we should always be honest in our doings because it will stand out tomorrow no matter what we face at the moment.

The book encourages us to being nice and knowledgeable. Bennie learnt that he should be nice to people regardless of who they are or what they have achieved. Being nice translates accepting each person for his or her individual worth, and such always comes back to repay us in a long run.

Ben Carson is convinced that knowledge is power because, it helps overcome the past to change personal situations and fights new obstacles to make better decisions.

Knowledge also makes people special, people always want to be close and around you, knowledge enriches life makes us better people and brodens our insights of the world around us.

Knowledge yields insightfulness and makes one to be valuable depending on the kind of knowledge acquired. Hence knowledge is a key that opens all doors, both the good and the bad, understand how to shut it when the wrong door gets opened.

The author extensively explain BIG letters where it's encourages us to read books so as to know, obviously today most of the knowledge we have gained and still gaining are gotten from books, reading books is a great way to expand our knowledge.

Reading activates and exercises the mind, and forces the mind to discriminate, you become chosy on the types of word you use. Also Reading pushes us to imaginative thinking which yields creativity. The 'I' In-depth is the process of learning means learning so much about a topic as possible.

Learning for the sake of urgency to know and grasping the concept is very different from learning for the sake of passing exams with flying colours. Nevertheless,we all learn differently.

Notwithstanding, everyone ought to discover the best means he/she should be able to learn and also be able to expand the learning method,in order to get better at learning. God has created us in such a way that we keep exploring. Ben Carson made huge reference on the relevance of always placing or putting in the God factor.

In as much as knowledge is really good, skills,talents and learning in different areas is very beneficial, it's also important to know that we need God in all we do, to bless the works of our hands, have good success,be saved from challenging circumstances.
