Hello Hivers!

I hope you are having a wonderful day and also enjoyed the weekend while battling your way through in splinterlands. Only 1 day and 22 hours left for this current season to end.

image.png

After reaching the 45k price point, BTC is experiencing a downtrend since last 4 days and currently it is being traded at 42,077$. The ETH also got affected by the bearish wave and currently being traded for 2,863$ with a -5.2% change in last 7 days. As usual, most of the top 100 coins are Red in last 24 hours.

Splinterlands token market however seems to be immune with the trends because I am seeing DEC pretty stable around 0.0032-0.0034 $ price mark. The SPS also saw a decent gain on its price and currently being traded for 0.136$ in hive-engine market (while still showing 0.139$ in the in game SPS claim page 😅). Same with vouchers as they currently being traded for 2.115$ a piece.

Super Weaken Strategy

Now, let us take a U-turn from the market road towards the battle arena m cause today, I will be talking about how to make a SUPER WEAKEN line-up. With this line-up strategy, your goal will be to reduce your enemy monster’s health to 1 or 2 so that they can all be killed easily within 2 or 3 rounds.

  • Most of you have already acknowledged yourself with the Weaken ability. For those who are new, the weaken ability decreases all enemy monster’s health by 1. Our goal here will be to decrease those enemy monster’s health further using multiple weaken monsters and other buffs/debuffs.
  • In this strategy, monsters with Redemption ability helps a lot because whenever they get died, all enemy monster gets damaged with 1. So there’s high chance that your dying Redemption monster will take away at least one or two low health enemies with it.
  • In this battle below, I will be using the Thaddius Brood summoner from Chaos Death. This monsters provides with -1 magic attack and -1 health to all enemies. As I tested this strategy a couple of times lately, this summoner helps great in this strategy by providing the -1 health which acts as another weaken ability. But you can also try with other summoners that give negative health on enemies such as Peakrider.
  • I will also be using 2 monsters with weaken ability and 1 monster with Redemption ability in this match. So, I will reduce 3 health from every enemy monster and will also use the Redemption monster to damage furthermore.

Battle Line-up

Battle Link: Click here

mana Cap: 26

Splinters allowed: Fire, Water, Earth and Death.

Ruleset:

  • Noxious Fumes - All monsters start the match with poisoned. Poison takes 2 health away from the applied monster every round.

Below are the monsters with respect to their positions starting from front and why I chose them in this match.

XENITH MONK

image.png

image.png

I chose the XENITH MONK as the front defender of my lineup. For only 4 mana cost, he has a big 8 health with 2 melee attack at 4 speed. He also holds Heal, Void and Magic Reflect which will help him to stand longer.

SHADOW SNITCH

image.png

image.png

I chose the SHADOW SNITCH at my second place in lineup. The reason was its 7 health which would be beneficial in a Noxious Fumes match. But it also has 3 melee attack at 4 speed with 7 health along with 3 abilities - Reach, Affliction and Evade. The affliction ability may help me by breaking those healers if the opponent is using any.

DEATH ELEMENTAL

image.png

image.png

I selected the DEATH ELEMENTAL in my third place mainly because of it’s weaken ability. I am using a level 8 here and it has 2 magic attack at 5 speed with 3 health. While it’s high speed sniper magic attacks will be devastating for my opponent, its low health will be a concern in this noxious fumes ruleset.

TOWER GRIFFIN

image.png

image.png

I placed the TOWER GRIFFIN at my fourth place mainly because of it’s Protect ability which will provide great support in this match. I am using a level 8 here and it has 2 range attack at 4 speed with 6 health along with 2 abilities - flying and protect.

LIFE SAPPER

image.png

image.png

I used the LIFE SAPPER at my fifth place mainly because of it’s redemption ability with a decent magic attack. I am using a level 8 here and it has 2 magic attack at 4 speed with 4 health along with 2 abilities - Life Leech and Redemption.

DOCTOR BLIGHT

image.png

image.png

I used another monster with weaken ability in here - DOCTOR BLIGHT! I am using a level 8 here and it has 2 magic attack at 1 speed with 4 health along 5 abilities - affliction, camouflage, poison, scavenger and weaken. As theres high chance that some monsters will die within the first 2 rounds, the scavenger ability will increase the max health rapidly thus standing a good chance to stay alive for longer. The camouflage ability will block any direct attack on it and will hit the LIFE SAPPER instead, unlocking it redemption ability sooner 😎

Match Result

image.png

As it was a medium 26 mana limit match with Noxious Fumes, my opponent also used some low and medium health monsters on his line-up. He used the Plado Emberstorm legendary summoner which gives -1 health to enemy monsters as well. He chose Rusty Android at front, followed by Ant Miners, Flame Monkey, Goblin Shaman, Tenyii Striker and the Tower Griffin at the rear position.

As you can see, with counting the summoner and shaman, there is -2 health on my friendly monsters as well. Moreover, with the summoner, monkey and the shaman, the opponent is 3 speed points ahead of me. So this match will be intense.

image.png

At round 1, just before the attacks start, I successfully reduced them with plenty of health points. The Ant and Monkey was only having 1 health but the Android was still is 7 health.

At first round, my Death Elemental did great by killing down the goblin summon and brought back more health and speed. The Android also got killed with the final blow from the beloved doctor so 2 of the main monsters got down in first round!

image.png

At second round, the Noxious Fumes ate down my Death Elemental and brought severe damage to other friendly ones. The enemy monsters also got affected as his monkey got down while damaging other ones by same -2 damage each. The Monk got down by the enemy griffin while the striker killed down my Life Sapper. But the redemption ability reduced all enemy armours by 1.

image.png

At third Round, all the monsters got a -2 damage because of the Fume ruleset and the enemy griffin got dead in action, leaving the the poor ant and striker only with 1 health. As I thought, the doctor becomes beneficial in this match at this point with a decent health left thanks to his scavenger ability. The tenyii striker attacked first and took the the griffin’s shield, but soon after i took down both of his monsters down with my 3 wounded warriors.

I guess you get a decent idea about how this strategy works. You simple become powerful by weakening your enemy so much the even a light slap against them would cost a total fall down. You can further stretch this by adding speed manipulator cards (with swift and slow) ability.

This strategy attacks great in Noxious Fumes ruleset because every round all the monsters get -2 damage, keeping it hard to stand strong even for 3 consecutive rounds. Thats why I choose 2 monsters Monk and Snitch with decent amount of heath at front and the doctor at back, while keeping the vulnerable ones in middle so that they gets protected for longer.

The Monk did well with the void + Heal in this case and the Snitch also aim down some cool attacks onto enemy cards. The Life Sapper also stood for long while leeching in health whenever attacking, he also damaged all the enemies with redemption after being killed down.

You may also use other monsters with weaken, Strengthen or redemption ability to boost up your domination power respecting the ruleset and mana limit. However, this strategy is not good against medium or high mana matches where opponent will be using high health monsters.

I hope you liked my post and the strategy I talked about today. It’s a popular strategy nowadays so Keep it in mind to use or counter it if occurs. Let me know you feelings in the comment below and I will be seeing you in my next post.

Wish you all best of luck on your Splinterlands journey.

Great post, as always! Weaken is such a great ability and it just reaches crazy heights in high level play. My favourite are the strategies with Redemption for those hilarious kills with a Cursed Slimeball being killed and winning the game on the spot - I love watching creative Weaken-focused teams.

Very interesting strategy. I find the Weaken strategy carries quite a bit of risk but can be really strong based on the ruleset. The main weakness I found is if the opponent has a monster with Immunity in his line-up
