Greeting my fellow warriors!

I hope you all are enjoying splinterlands! The new season has just started and I have already jumped up from Gold I to Diamond with both the accounts that I am playing. After around 20 hours or so when the season ended, I started playing again and saw the amount of DEC per ranked match win was insane at that time as I was even getting 200+ dec per win even when I am in Gold. So, I used the opportunity and played hard for a while and collected 5k dec with my won account and 10k with the red dog account. DEC price is insane now so whenever I save a chunk of dec I sell it on HE market and convert the hive to HBD and send them to savings so that my idle money earns 10% APR.

image.png

Before I could realize, the remaining Dice packs got all sold and the New Chaos Legion will get launched real soon, thou there is no official announcement yet, yabapmatt said that the pre-sale will get started at September and the opening will start at October. Some of my friends has been already saving big chunks of their hard earned money for this pre-sale and I should follow them as well! But I have a debt to be paid first so I am very confused now. I did the same mistake with land updates and did not buy any lands back then when they were cheap. That's why in the first place I have decided not to dump my SPS and staking almost all of it I am getting till now.

image.png

The APR on staking SPS has been reduced to 223% but it's still great to me as I get a little bit of SPS everyday by doing nothing but just staking them. Well, if change my mind in future (think if SPS price crossed double digits in USD) I can always unstake my SPS and sell in market so do you. It takes 28 days (4 weeks) to unstake 100% of your staked SPS and every week you will gt 25% of your staked SPS back in liquid. I think the time window of this staking feature is a bit long but very balanced and will oppress users to dump all of their SPS at once.

Now, allow me to take a U-turn to my today's monster showcase and this time, I chose an untamed monster that is very very important to have these days. It only costs 4 mana but it is super usable against a variety of matches and it is well known now for having fantastic defensive stat on him. Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce my favorite bird of splinterlands to you all, The mighty Tower Griffin!

It's all stone made body may be mistaken for gargoyles but he is actually a griffin that got produced from an enchanted fortress. It's skin has become so hard that it is almost impossible to break his shield and that's the reason why in battles, many players chose Tower Griffin as a defensive card as it's shield has been protecting it's friendly monsters for ages now.

Tower Griffin is an untamed card which belongs from the neutral section and costs 4 mana to use. The main motto of Tower Griffin as I have told earlier, is to provide shields to all friendly monsters including himself in the battlefield. Moreover, for his flying ability, it's a hard target for the non flying attackers.

But Why this Tower Griffin is so important to have? Let me share my thoughts and how I play with it.
  • Tower Griffin costs only 4 mana, so you can use it in mini and medium mana matches without the fear of mana limit. You can also add this in your little league matches as well.

  • Tower griffin belongs from the neutral region so you can use it with any splinter as long as it's available.

  • Tower griffins are super usable in non magic matches where you can get an extra layer of shields (+2) on all of your friendly monsters.

  • For it's flying ability, Tower Griffin is a hard target for non flying enemy attackers. I often Place it in somewhere in the middle. What happens with this is first of all my Griffin stays alive for longer and when things go wrong, it acts as a last defense to protect my rest monsters.

..but don't let your imagination get blocked with only these points and rather try even wilder strategies and test them yourself. Now let us focus on it's abilities.

Flying

Monsters with flying ability has more chance of evading an attack coming from non flying enemies.

Protect

All friendly monsters will get +2 armor including itself.

Market Stat

Currently there are no max level Tower Griffin available in market for sell but there are some high level to grab. The single bcx cards are starting from 1.96$ and will cost you 288.459 DEC as per the current rate.

Match Lineup

Battle Link: Click here

mana Cap: 46

Splinters allowed: Fire, Death and dragon.

Ruleset:

  • target Practice - All ranged and magic monsters will have the snipe ability.

  • Stampede - The trample ability can be triggered multiple times per attack if the trampled monster is killed.

Well, After the match got revealed, I saw that it's a big 46 mana count match with Fire, Death and Dragon splinter to chose from. My opponent is a big player so I guessed that he will choose Zaku on me. Now Tower griffin is a great choice if your opponent is using Zaku because its protect ability will give every friendly monster +2 shield so enemy monster will definitely find it harder to penetrate that. Okay so now, Let me speak about all the monsters that I have used in this battle starting from first position.

image.png

MAGNOR

I chose Magnor at the first place as it's my best defense card respecting the mana limit on this match. Magnor's trample ability is a great match for stampede ruleset and also it's return fire ability will give enemy archers return damage upon getting hit. I have a level 4 magnor and it has 6 melee attack with 3 speed and 15 health. It has 4 abilities - Taunt, Enrage, Trample and Return Fire.

image.png

CORNEALUS

I chose Cornealus in the second position as it's a great anti archer card as well for it's return Fire ability. Moreover, it's large health along with healing ability makes it very durable. As it doesn't go down easily, it's my top choice for the reach position most of the times. I have a level 4 and it has 4 ranged attack at 3 speed and 12 health. It also have 4 awesome abilities - Healing, Thorns, Return Fire and Magic Reflect.

image.png

TOWER GRIFFIN

I chose TOWER GRIFFIN at the third place, just after the cornealus so that it gets safe from the sniper attacks. It will provide shield to all 6 of my friendly monsters so my lineup certainly become harder to kill. I have a level 8 and it has 2 range attack at 4 speed and 6 health. It has 2 abilities - flying and Protect.

image.png

CENTAUR

I chose CENTAUR at the fourth place in this match. I had only some more mana left and at 4 mana this card is very good for its high powered range attack with high speed thou it's sniper ability is useless as it is already a 'target practice' ruleset match. I have a level 10 and it has 3 ranged attack at 6 speed and with 6 health.

image.png

FLAMESMITH

I chose FLAMESMITH in the fifth position and the reason I chose this card in my line up is it's repair ability. I have a level 10 and it has 4 range attack at 4 speed, 1 armor and 5 health. It also has 2 abilities - shatter and repair both of which will be very useful in this match.

image.png

SPARK PIXIES

At the last position of my lineup, I chose my favorite fire archer SPARK PIXIES. At 4 mana cost this card gives me 3 range power at 7 speed and 3 health. For it's exceptionally fast speed, most of the time it attack first in the match and often stun the enemy first place defender and on the other hand, it is very hard to target because of it's evade and flying ability. I have a level 8 and it has 3 abilities - Flying, stun and evade.

Match result

Exactly as I thought, my opponent also used zaku on me and his frontal defense was magnor as well. But he used Living Lava at second place so my Tower Griffin's shields will be of no use until it gets down. Now let us see what happens in the real match.

In the first round, my spark pixies attacked first and stunned the enemy magnor but the enemy pixie was unable to stun my magnor and lost almost all of its health due to the return fire ability of both my magnor and cornealus. After getting some hits, the enemy magnor got died with the hit of my flamesmith and the enemy mantoid also got down by my cornealus.

image.png

At the begin of second round, only 4 enemy monsters got left and my pixie started the round with his speedy ranged attack and attacked the enemy naga. The enemy pixie killed my magnor afterwards but also got down in the process because of the return fire ability. The enemy beetle got caught down by cornealus for it's magic reflect ability and got down. Then, my tower Griffin killed the enemy naga with it's ranged attack, leaving the only the lave behind. The lonely lava ended it's life towards the thorns ability of my cornealus while attacking it and thus I win this match!

image.png

It was really and classy match and I enjoyed every bit of it. Things could have turned if my magnor had got stunned instead but I was luckier this time. I hope that after reading it through here, you have got a decent idea on how important Tower Griffin is in various matches. I wish you good luck on all of your future matches :)
