Tasting Malzbier Brazilian Beer

Hello friends of the beer-loving community!

What's better than a cold beer on a hot day? Here in Brazil the habit of drinking beer is very strong, especially because it's quite hot in the summer, they love the sun and the beach, so any occasion is ideal to have a "gelada" as they affectionately call cold beer here. I think people drink more beer than water hehe XD!

Since we have been living in this country I have had the opportunity to try several brands of beer, I have noticed the great difference in quality and also in tastes, some people prefer softer beers and others prefer it stronger. I am not very fond of drinking beer but I did get one that has won my favoritism.

¿Qué es mejor que una cerveza bien fría en un día caluroso? Aquí en Brasil la costumbre de tomar cerveza es muy fuerte, sobre todo porque hace bastante calor en el verano, les encanta el sol y la playa, así que cualquier ocasión es ideal para tomarse una "gelada" como le dicen cariñosamente a la cerveza bien fría aquí. Pienso que las personas toman más cerveza que agua jeje XD!
Desde que vivimos en este país he tenido la oportunidad de probar varias marcas de cerveza, he notado la gran diferencia de calidad y también de gustos, algunas personas prefieren cervezas más suaves y otras la prefieren más fuerte. Yo no soy muy amante de tomar cerveza pero si conseguí una que ha ganado mi favoritismo.

To get into context I tell you that one of the strongest pains among Venezuelan immigrants is the lack of Malt, yes, the famous "Malta Polar" drink that was part of our lives since we were children because it was the favorite breakfast at school "a malt and a empanada" we asked for in the dining room.

That flavor is pure longing for our past and our roots, I remember that the last malt I drank was at a stop that the bus made on a road already arriving at the border with Brazil, for that moment I had not realized that this would be the last malt that we would all drink, especially my daughter, in a long time.

Para entrar en contexto les cuento que uno de los dolores más fuertes entre los inmigrantes venezolanos es la falta de Malta, si, la famosa bebida Malta Polar que formó parte de nuestra vida desde que somos niños ya que era el desayuno predilecto en la escuela "una malta y una empanada" pedíamos en el comedor.
Ese sabor es añoranza pura de nuestro pasado y nuestras raíces, recuerdo que la última malta que me tomé fue en una parada que hizo el autobús por una carretera ya llegando a la frontera con Brasil, para ese momento no había caído en cuenta de que esa sería la última malta que tomaríamos todos, mi hija sobre todo, en mucho tiempo.

Being already here we discovered that in fact there is malt, but it is especially malt beer, Malzbier. The first time I tasted it, it was "a thrill so big that it clouds my mind". What a joy to feel that taste, however the excitement is short-lived because it is very sweet and has a very high alcohol content, so if you are not careful it really clouds your mind haha.

There are several brands of this malt beer, Malzbier. The first one I drank was Itaipava, one of the best breweries in Brazil, and I liked it, but as I mentioned it is very strong in alcoholic content, so just one beer and I don't coordinate well.

Estando ya aquí descubrimos que de hecho si hay Malta, pero es especialmente cerveza de malta, Malzbier, (la pronunciación aquí es "maucebir" jaja). La primera vez que la probé fue "una emoción tan grande que se me nubla la mente". Qué alegría sentir ese sabor, sin embargo la emoción dura poco pues es muy dulce y tiene un grado alcohólico muy alto, así que si no tienes cuidado en verdad se te nubla la mente jaja.
De esa cerveza de malta, Malzbier hay varias marcas. La primera que tomé fue Itaipava, una de las mejores cervecerías de Brasil, y me gustó solo que como ya mencioné es muy fuerte en grado alcohólico así que apenas una cerveza y ya no coordino bien.

Then I discovered that the Brahma brewery also has Malzbier so I bought it to try it and I found it perfect. It is less sweet and lighter in alcohol content so I can drink at least 3 beers without having a bad time.

For my daughter the matter is complicated because she loves malt but these Malzbier have alcohol so she can not drink them, we have investigated if they sell Malzbier without alcohol but we have not yet obtained it, but the first chance we see it we will buy it for her so she remembers her beloved malt that she liked so much for breakfast with her arepita at school.

Luego descubrí que la cervecería Brahma también tiene Malzbier así que la compre para probar y está si que me pareció perfecta. Es menos dulce y más leve en grado alcohólico así que puedo tomarme al menos 3 cervezas tranquilamente sin pasar mal.
Para mi hija sí está complicado el asunto pues ella ama la malta pero estas Malzbier tienen alcohol así que ella no las puede tomar, hemos investigado que si venden Malzbier sin alcohol pero aún la hemos conseguido, pero en la primera oportunidad que la veamos se la compraremos a la niña para que recuerde su querida malta que tanto le gustaba para desayunar con su arepita en la escuela.

That's how our Sunday was, having some malzbier, making a barbecue and enjoying with the family, which is the most important thing.
