You Need to Check Out CTPX

It's been a while since I posted anything to the BullFreeZone site. I've been busy attending to my first love, which is fiction writing. I've released a couple of books in the past 9 months. If you're interested, you can check those out at markhodgetts.com

While I've been quiet, I've been closely monitoring developments in the make-money-online space. There's been very little that has impressed me. I don't want to sound cynical or jaded, but there's nothing really new happening. I see mostly the same old bait-and-switch tactics, coupled with cynical promotional sites that want you to embrace them as "the business model."

There are times when I think the whole industry is circling the drain.

There are, of course, occasional glimmers of hope.

I've long lamented the deterioration of the Traffic Exchange industry which has devolved into an almost valueless traffic source unless you're promoting other traffic sources (and most of those are valueless as well). Traffic Exchanges were originally created so that webmasters could display their websites and explore others. They were created in a community context before search engines were even a thing.

As time passed and the Internet developed, traffic exchanges morphed into something else and have become something of a curiosity rather than a viable means of generating quality traffic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can hear all the arguments to the contrary saying that you need to build splash pages and squeeze pages, branding pages and build your traffic machine. BUT, I realised a long time ago that most Traffic Exchanges were a waste of time and/or money delivering dubious repeat visitors for less than ten seconds at a time. There have been valiant attempts to address this, the most notable being Sweeva, maybe ten years ago now. That got shot down by a cynical marketing campaign designed to keep people chained to the ever-diminishing pie that traffic exchanges represented.

So, I was pleasantly surprised by the initiative undertaken by the CTP team to introduce a new type of site based on the Traffic Exchange model, but emphasising exploration and interaction rather than traffic generation.

The guys haven't rebuilt the wheel. They've simply repositioned it. I've been using it for a week now and I like it. I'm seeing a lot of sites that genuinely interest me and relatively few of the "make a grand by lunchtime" affiliate pages that clutter up most exchanges. Seriously, if I surf a regular Traffic Exchange for five minutes, I'm over it. That's not happening at CTPX.

If you haven't joined, I think you should take a look. I think you'll like what they offer.

Thanks man!

That'll be the challenge for sure, to educate the old T.E. guard that they dont need to throw splash and squeeze pages up only. We are trying to get people to actually look at the pages and interact with them.

Instead of always trying to sell something to people, hopefully users try to get them to engage.

Thanks, Jon.
I knew that at some point, you guys would revisit this space, and I wondered how you would approach it. FWIW, I think you've got the balance about right.
Reeducating "marketers" will be an interesting challenge.
Good luck.
