Splinterlands - Bid Cards Strategy

avatar

In terms of dollar cost per cards it has recently been falling. The falling prices has also lead to price gaps in card bids and today we look at ways to capitalize on the price differences.

Peakmonster's Bidding Tool

When using third party sites to purchase SPL cards its often good to understand what the benefits are for using the sites. In particular with Peakmonsters is that users who buy on the site earn secondary tokens and have a tool at their disposal for free to use that automates a player's purchases. I am talking about Peakmonster's auto bidding.

Without going in depth on how the bidding system works just understand you can place multiple bids on various cards even if you do not have all the funds on hand for purchase. Instead as long as you have sufficient funds to execute any one of the bids then Peakmonsters will allow you to place the bids and once your funds are spent the remaining bids will get removed. This is a great tool for those to snatch cards are lower prices without having to continuously watch markets.

Buy The Dip?

As mentioned prices of cards in terms of $ value has been on a decline in recent days. So what is to say the price of a card you really want can not go any lower? There is not. This is part of the investment risk in crypto and NFTs. What we can do is put on a bid on trying to buy low in hopes of one day sell high.

In a somewhat extreme example Conqueror Jacek had a price peak of $24 / bcx and since then fallen to as low as $17 / bcx. In the past 24 hours it had a some 1 bcx cards sold for $16. Question then is can it go to $15? Lets check the current bids on the card.

As seen in snapshot above three cards have already sold for $16.001 each and there remains 3 more bids at that price. Once there are willing sellers to sell at those prices the next highest bid is $15.31 per bcx. Yet let say I really want that card but only have like $15.50 to spent. I can put in my bid now at $15.50 which would then make me second highest in the bidding list. Once 3 cards are sold at $16.001 and no other bids are introduced if there is another seller selling at rock bottom prices my bid of $15.50 will get hit making me purchasing 1 bcx Jacek at that price.

In summary I would be purchasing the card at the lowest price to date but with trend going down it is not certain that will be lowest forever price. Yet I did not purchase the card at a high price point nor did I have to manually look at the markets to find the price point that suite me but instead let the bid automatically execute while I would be doing something else.

The example of getting a Jacek at lower price can be played for almost any card in the game. Lets look at an extreme case to see clearly the potential of Peakmonsters auto bidding saving buyers a ton of $$$$$.

The recent promo Lux Vega is out and the bidding on the card is by wide margin. In fact the highest potential bid that can go through currently is at $360 since the card only comes in at 11bcx. Therefore the $501 and $420 bids are useless. Now if you were to say wanted this card and had the liquidity to put up you could potentially put in a 11 bcx bid of $361. Essentially making you the top of the bid list so that if someone desperately needed to sell you will be first to purchase. The original value of the card was $1000, and during promotion there were some slight discounts. However the discount would not be as much as the purchase bid price if it was to be executed. Of course this all depends very much for someone who is holding a Lux Vega willing to sell and sell at the highest bidding price.

Conclusions

There are multiple strategies one can play in regards to using Peakmonster's bidding tool. The whole idea is to purchase and sell cards at the best possible current market prices. Peakmonsters is currently the only system I know that has the bidding system therefore if you wanted to buy or sell and needed to know the base current market value of the card you can go through their website to see the bids.

The best strategy I see in getting lower price SPL cards is by being able to purchase the card when they are at a fire sale. One of the most interesting aspect of being at the top of a bidding line is that being first means you get to buy first. With the recent news on SPL layoffs and some players selling out assets it maybe a potential time to be able to snag fire sale card prices.

So just an example if Jacek card was sold at $10 by someone right now the bidder at $16.001 would be able to purchase the card at $10 since he is at the top of the bidder list. Get it? The automation of buying the card for you when you setup the bid can have this kind of effect. Anyways you should play around with Peakmonster's bidding tool if you have not. There are likely all kinds of strategies buyers and sellers can come up with when using the tool.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

I used it a bit in the past but I just ended up not using it as often after I got used to Monstermarket. Getting back 60% of the fees (3%), just looked like a deal that was too good to pass up on

Buying with 3% cash back definitely addictive but with peakmonsters if you strategize with bids and be patient could get a cheaper deal. !LOL !WINE
