Splinterlands - Gladiator Cards (My First Pack)

Brawl reward cards are Gladiator Cards. They have been out for a few weeks now but it has taken me multiple brawls in order to save enough Merits to purchase a pack of Gladius Case. For those who are foreign to this here is a brief overview of the cards and how you can earn them.

Gladius Splinter - Gladiator Cards

Gladius splinter is the newest splinter introduced in the game and there are currently 32 cards in the splinter. The cards can only be purchased with merit and can not be sold once a holder earns them. Furthermore the cards can only be used in brawls. Future expansions may allow the cards to be used with other assets such as the land expansion but this is to be confirmed.

How to Earn Gladiator Cards?

As mentioned earlier the only way to purchase Gladiator cards is with merits. Merits are earned when players have participated in brawls and have at least a level 1 store. A quick over view of the steps in order to participate in a brawl. In a sequential order:

  1. Player must join a Guild
  2. Guild to level up building Arena to at least 1.

  1. Guild to level up building store to at least 1.

(Note 10k DEC for building arena level 1 and 10k DEC for building store level 1, making a total of 20k DEC.)

  1. Once a guild has achieve these bare minimum requirements the players must then participate in brawls by choosing a fray. A fray is a group of participants in the brawls each from a different guild that will face off specifically limited to the type of cards within the fray. The higher the arena level the more frays are able to be participated in brawl. Each player can only partake in one fray in each brawl.

  2. Within the fray there are a set amount of battles. The most common bronze league has 9 battles within fray. Players who participate must complete all 9 battles in order to qualify to earn merits.

At the end of the brawl scores are tallied up based on wins and losses. The guilds are competing for crowns which is the asset that is needed to upgrade brawl buildings.

Snapshot above is the most recent results of the brawl my guild has competed in. We ended up placing 5th in the brawl which resulted in 33 crowns won by the guild.

With the amount of crowns won and the guild's participants in the brawl it comes out a specific amount of merits awarded equally among all guild participants. The general equation for the amount of merits won is:

Merits = (Crowns won X 500 X Store bonus multiplier) / (number of Frays in the Brawl)

(From @cryptomancer)

Purchasing Gladius Cards

In order to purchase a Gladius case which each case contains 5 cards a player must pay 2,000 merits.

image.png

There is no discount for buying in bulk so once you have earned 2,000 merits it would be good to purchase a case.

Here are the cards I earned from my first Gladius case purchased:

Like other booster packs to open each Gladius case has five cards with one card at minimum at least a rare. I did not get much but will take the cards as they add points toward my collection power and can be useful in brawls.

Conclusions

A new splinter in splinterland called the Gladius Splinter. The cards can only be earned in brawls and can only be used in brawls. Gladius cards can not be resold but can be burned for DEC. There are 32 different cards in the current set and there are the regular and gold foil versions.

Another collection of cards for players to own but are only available if they play in guilds. The guilds themselves have sufficient investments in them in order to partake in brawls and win crowns and merits.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!
