Splinterlands - Gold I Challenge Accepted

Although the new focus chests only allowed specific splinters to compete I found it easier than the previous format. However yesterday my randomly selected splinter to complete the focus turned into a challenge. How so? I got the Earth splinter and based on recent experience prior I immediately went with a splinter reset. Boy would I regret it as it turned out I had the Life splinter.

My Summoner Handy Cap

I had no choice but to continue playing however my Life summoner woes just came to surface. I had rented out my level 6 Tyrus Paladium and had only a level 3 to fall back on when playing Gold I. This meant I was at bare bone stats going into the battles.

I had a decent collection of life cards but for summoners I was handicapped with only Tyrus. I had to make due with what I had. Biggest challenge was the summoner's limitation as a level 3 card. This meant I was not able to use my monsters at their fullest capacity.

A majority of my rares and commons were limited due to my Tyrus. Yet I got had some help with use of another set of cards to supplement my deficiencies.

Neutral Cards

Through a streak of losses I changed up a bit in my setups. Ignoring the thought of using only life cards I mixed it up with an arsenal of neutral cards. The infamous Lord Arianthus even at level 2 was good enough to carry me though in some low mana matches. Then on higher mana matches the Goblin Mech turned into a staple.

Conclusions

Often in Gold I had to face opponents that had pretty much maxed out in leveling cards. The limit of level 6 rare summoner in conjunction of level 5 and higher on rares and commons were difficult to overcome when I was using a level 3 rare summoner.

On the other hand I sneaked away enough wins to get my averaging daily yield in focus. Although not ideal way of playing I still got a decent play to earn results.

For those wondering why I do not go with relinquishing my rental and get back my level 6 Tyrus mainly came down to me wanting to challenge myself. I wanted to see if I could make due with limited resources. I am happy with the results.
