Splinterlands - Leveraging Rule Sets in Battles.

There are a lot of cards at play now with Chaos Legions introduction. There is now a total of (501) cards that can be used to play the game combination of summoners and monsters. How the formations are setup are very important. Something else that is also useful to plan on formation setup is leveraging rule sets when playing rank battles.

The are 33 rule sets in the game currently and 64 abilities on top of all the cards. It all makes for a very complex set of combinations possible for rank battles. Within the rule sets, abilities, and monsters there can be opportunities to sway a battle in your favor. Today we will look at what type of opportunities that can help us win battles.

Up Close and Personal

When the Up Close and Personal ruleset is at play it forces players to only be allowed to use melee attack. How to take advantage of this ruleset? Well since melee attacks toughness first it is beneficial to bring in monsters that have toughness in their stats.

Explosive Weaponry

The ruleset Explosive Weaponry allows explosion for all monsters. A good way to apply the ruleset to your advantage is to use monsters with snipe and opportunity abilities. This will be better than sneak ability. Why? The blast ability will blast the monster that is targeted and adjacent monsters. This means if a monster is at the middle of the formation the blast ability will hit (3) monsters.

For instance a monster with opportunity will hit a monster with the lowest health in the formation. Assume the opponent monster with the lowest health is place in the middle of the formation and you use opportunity your monster will hit the middle monster. Then it will also blast the attacked monster and the front and rear monsters.

Noxious Fumes

The pesky ruleset Noxious Fumes is where you need to select monsters to outlast your opponents. Best to do this is using ability cleanse or self heal. On top it would help if their health is high. Noxious Fumes bypasses toughness.

A glace over how many monsters in the game has tank heal is surprising.

(11) monsters with melee attack have heal.

(3) monsters with range attack have heal.

(4) monster with magic attack have heal. Not two monsters that have magic and melee attack would make it a total of (6) monsters. However to avoid double count the monsters Red Dragon and Kralus which are counted in melee group.

(1) monster with no attack also has heal.

In total there are currently (19) monsters with tank heal for use to play against the rule set Noxious Fumes.

(9) monsters have cleanse ability that can also help with Noxious Fumes.

In their rulesets page each ability has recommendations as to how to play around it. Note it is not full proof just like how I have listed the opportunities in this post. The recommendations will still help guild you in developing combinations to use in battle.

With more cards added continuously there will also be new abilities. It will be advantageous to learn how to play with the rulesets as each edge you can get in battle gives you a better opportunity to win. Best of luck in finding you favorite formations.
