Splinterlands - Overview Of Brawl SPS Rewards

Last brawl rewards was the first distribution of SPS rewards to participants. It was an additional reward to brawl players beyond earning merits and crowns. Today we look at the range of those new SPS rewards and determine if one who has yet to join a guild if it is wise to do so now?

SPS in Brawls

According to splinterlands starting 12/14/2022 the reward pool decreases by 25k. In short it is a decrease of 1% of the total pool each month for 65 months. Do a quick math by end of 65 months the pool would be distributing around 1.3 million SPS in rewards. (If memory serves me the SPS distribution was intended to be around 5 years. Since air drop has past it is more than a year in. Brawls having SPS rewards makes the overall SPS distribution a bit longer but still, I am guessing when we reach 65th month of brawls it would likely be the end of SPS rewards in brawls.)

Brawl Tiers

There are five brawl tiers based on star ratings. The SPS distribution is divided by 6 for each of tier with the most being in top tier 5. The breakout of SPS within each tier will then be dependent on how many brawls being played within the tier. This is where getting to a middle ground is crucial to yielding the most SPS rewards per a tier.

In order for a tier to earn the most SPS distribution to its tier there needs to be a minimum of 10 guilds participating. If it was less than 10 guilds the 10% of the total SPS in the tier is no longer available within the tier. Splinterlands gives the example only 5 guilds participating in a given tier then only 50% of the SPS distributed to the tier is able to be earned by players. Meanwhile if there are too many guilds in a specific tier the breakout of SPS to each player gets dividend more which dilutes the overall amount of SPS earned to each player. Essentially you don't want to be in a tier where it is filled with guilds participating as it lowers the overall amount of SPS brawl rewards.

How To Get To Tiers?

In order to be in a guild that can be competitive in brawls the guild has to have their Arena level upgraded. There are a total of 10 levels and each second upgrade allows the guild to move up in brawl tiers. What is important to note is that
DEC and crowns are required to upgrade the Arena. DEC at current prices is still somewhat reasonable considering it is way below parity, but it remains to be seen for how long.

Further down the road it will likely be very difficult for a guild to be able to raise it's building levels as its not just Arena that needs upgrade. So you have to realize right now maybe a good time to find a higher guild if possible that accepts you and is playing at higher brawl tiers. One final note is that guild leaders have the option to select which brawl tier they wish the guild to participate. Therefore even if let say a guild has a level 10 Arena they can still op into brawl tier 4 or lower when playing brawls.

Conclusions

The awarded SPS in brawls are staked SPS. In addition to earning SPS participants earn merits and crowns. All the amount rewards earned will be based on the overall guild's ranking in brawl.

What it comes down to is playing in brawls are now more incentive then in past. All participants are earning more rewards so likely a good idea to join a guild that can brawl now if you have not.

In addition the sooner you join a guild with higher building upgrades the better odds you get in earning more rewards. Now often top guilds require some sort of reoccurring fee in order to be a member. From personally experience it is well worth the investment because what the guild does is collects the fees to purchase building upgrades to make the guild stronger. You can only do all this if you start sooner than later.
