Splinterlands - Waka on Wax Arrival 3/10!!!

So today Splinterlands officially broke news on when the next 500 sales of Waka will start on Atomic Hub, March 10th, 2022 at 12PM EST. Here is link to the official post.

I'll cut to where I stand with the info that is given before us. Waka regular is being sold at $1500 in WAX tokens and gold is being sold at $7500 in WAX tokens. For those who have read my blog posts I had discussed about what I had envision for Waka sale on Atomic Hub and on the surface Splinterlands appears to be selling this card at fire sale price.

Take a deeper dive as to the face value of Waka there is a few interesting data points to consider. Waka is considered a promo card so will gain a 10% boost for earned DEC in ranked battles. Meanwhile the DEC burn rate of the card is only 5,775.

As for past promo legendary summoners such as Prince Julian and Archmage Arius the collection power is much higher at 32,550.

This equates to about 5.6 times more CP for the older legendary summoners compare to that of Waka. Going rate for Archmage Arius and Prince Julian in the open market is close to $20k. If the CP to price ratios would remain for Waka it would likely be capped at around $3,600 as its 5.6 times less than that of Archmage or Prince.

For those curious gold foil is a bit more in the extreme in price between Waka and older legendaries since there lacks much of a supply.

Currently there are no gold foil of both Archmage or Prince on the open market. Yet looking at Waka gold foil lowest price going for $33,000 it leads us to believe the ones going to be sold on Atomic Hub would be worth purchasing as those are going for $7,500 each. The latest one sold on open market came in at $850 / bcx or $9,350 for the card.

Both regular foil and gold foil would be coming in at a discount if one is able to purchase on Atomic Hub compare to their prices on the current market. This is in the range of more than 10% discount. The question then is how quickly will these cards be sold on Atomic Hub?

Considering there are over 6 million WAX accounts the odds are pretty high that on Atomic Hub the cards can be sold as fast or even faster than that on Splinterlands. In addition we are talking about the use of only one token. WAX token to purchase the card instead of the two, SPS and vouchers, in Splinterlands. In addition WAX is easier to obtain than that of SPS and vouchers.

Conclusions

There is exactly a little over a week from the day the card is being offered on Atomic Hub. This means for those planning to even try to purchase the card has a week to accumulate enough WAX to be ready to buy.

WAX has not been fairing so well in the past few months since it hit a peak of nearly $1. Yet it is hovering around a decent support range between $0.20 and $0.30. It will be interesting if the next few days the price moves lower as if I try accumulating WAX for a regular Waka it would be around 5000 WAX at current price but would be more WAX if price dropped. So the decision would either buy WAX now in anticipation to be ready to buy Waka or not. The fear of WAX dropping in price will force me to have to buy more WAX in the near future on top of the 5000 already bought. This leads overall price of Waka be over $1500 if I buy WAX now instead of buying right before the sale begins.

Since we have one week to really wait and plan I prefer to sit on the sidelines for now to watch if WAX price indeed would fall. If it does I will hold off buying WAX until close to Waka sales date. On the other hand if cryptocurrency continue to soar in price pulling WAX with it I may have to purchase WAX sooner. In any case having enough liquidity to buy the card, $1500 is the key here and whether or not to buy WAX now or later is secondary.
