Hive Opportunities: Interview with Raymondspeaks founder of Bro

Today we have a very special guest on the program, someone who has been around for quite sometime and started off relatively small and has managed to build Hive's largest community dividend paying token and manly support group The Mancave.

He goes by the anonymous Hive user account name @raymondspeaks and is well known for his sense of humour and ability to take it and give it in more ways than one.

But before we begin lets take a look at what he has created, Bro

Interview with Raymondspeaks 1.jpg

The Mancave & Bro token

Lurking somewhere hidden on the decentralised web is a group of men not just any men but men of Hive. The lurking isn't solely exclusive of women as there are a number of women who regularly join the frank discussions but they all come together for a common goal and that is Bro.

The Bro token has a number of investments scattered across Hive and by simply HODLing bro HODLrs benefit from a number of drops inclusive of community tokens, SPS winnings and if you have enough Bro, you'll get your very own NFT of manly power.

Further adaptions have seen bro expand into Brofi where delegating community tokens or even those same payments will see you receive Bro tokens. It's a great initiative if you're wanting to learn more about what is on offer as Bro will literally provide you with most Hive tokens.

But lets hear from the man himself!

The Interview

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what brought you to Hive?
I'm Raymond, I come from a mental health background in the lifelong skills sector. Basically, to cut a really long story short, I sensed the awesome in people and brought it to the forefront to help them realise it themselves. I would teach people skills that would get them ahead in life, and give them subtle suggestions on what path to take!

I found Steemit one fateful day when I was on another crypto slack and someone barged in shouting "Steemit is a scam" and then, the rest was history. Including a $2000 upvote from Ned!

I was a writer at the time, and this place was perfect for me. As the world of journalism was rapidly changing and feminism began to rise (which I support) many writers, journalists and weekend authors were dumped from jobs they had held for lifetimes without retraining or provided opportunities. It was the dawn of cancel culture, while many of us were trained and taught how to write and what to write by our editors all of a sudden became a risk and we were cancelled

I never went back to professional writing after that, I am a passionate writer and as the worlds views changed, which I understand. It was unfair to blame the writer for producing content that editors wanted. So I came here where I could be myself and not be told what to do

$2000 Steemit upvote from Ned! That must be worth atleast a few k now days, well done! It must have been hard being in that cultural shift especially as a worker being told how to do something your whole career than instead of the company addressing it, they just remove their staff

As the founder of Bro, what gave you the idea?
Spending most of my life in work environments mostly dominated by women, and not that that ever bothered me (I enjoyed it), but hearing the narrative change and the results it had on my working life, I wanted to create a great place for men, to just be men! BRO has existed since 2018, it just didn't get popular until I had the investment token idea! -- which to his credit was inspired by @reazuliqbal -- who is also a math major for his sins.

Bro is Hive's largest fund which is a testament to your leadership and determination. What keeps you focused and driving for success?
It's all I have. It's the sum of all my achievements to date. If it fails then I'll have nothing. That idea is what keeps me striving for more. Also I'm autistic. So I'm overly focused, and I'll hold onto something for a long time, to my detriment sometimes.

It's amazing how you've managed to build a skill strength from something the mainstream narrative would see as a negative. We don't hear enough success stories of people that don't fit the world "view" making it, well done.

You recently expanded into Brofi which opens up Bro token to the whole of Hive and enables them to earn dividends of all Hive tribe tokens. What inspired you to build such a great Hive asset and what have some of the barriers been?
I'll be honest, Brofi was entirely @taskmanager's idea. Credit where credit is due. I just provided a valuable coin that people wanted. He said he wanted to do this for a while but lacked the adequate "fomo" for people to want to get into it. BRO provided that.

I said yes because I always wanted people to be able to earn our coin in some way. That provided the solution.

The only barriers so far have been getting in touch with taskmanager because he's usually busy in the real world. Apart from that not a whole lot. The community loves it.

Bro Dragons receive specialised NFTs, what kind of perks come with the Bro NFTs?
The NFTs are a perk of being a BRO dragon. Not the other way around. To be clear I have only just started. So there are a slew of perks on the horizon for the dragons in the future.

Where do you see Bro in the future and is there anything you can let us in on?
I don't like to map big future plans, because I know the small plans can take us in different directions - I have a rough idea of where I want to be in several years! I can only say I have big plans on the BRO & Cine ecosystem expansion.

I guess the only spoiler I can give you is that I am growing with a personal fund of six figures right now and I'm using quite a bit of that to grow BRO and Cine outwards. You guys haven't seen the fruits of our labour yet, but that time will come -- it's on the horizon anyway. I have built a team of 13 on our own Discord, each working their way towards a better outcome for all of us.

You used your skills building Bro to create Cine a Hive dedicated community for film. Where did you get that idea from?
@taskmaster4450 - he sort of egged me on with that idea, and I lapped it up. I always wanted a tribe that BRO owned, and now I have it! Sadly at the time I didn't have the resources to manage it effectively. Now, thanks to @papacrusher & @stickupmusic I do.

Finally what advice can you give other Hive users and the broader community wanting to build on Hive?
You don't need much to build on hive. Just an idea and the focus and determination to see it through.

Thank you for your time today, I have to admit this has been an enjoyable discussion. Just speaking with you on how you over came your own personal barriers, workplace cultural shifts and everything in between. You have still been able to continue to grow.

If anyone is interested in picking up some Bro tokens you can from Hive Engine or Tribaldex.

Hive blockchains offer so many great projects, only to be able to keep pace with them. Some will thrive, some will not so it is upon us to DYOR and chose wisely. But nevertheless, someone could get wealthy only within this ecosystem.

It looks like his journey was a fairly long one and he set up a nice project. I think his advice is quite spot on. If your idea is good and people agree with it, it can succeed.

Nice interview! Raymond sure has come a long way... I just to read some of his more mental health related things back in the very early days of "Hive 1.0."

Brofi and the BRO token have some very interesting synergy going, with delegating tokens, earning us BRO, which in turn also earns us "drips" of other tokens... almost like a "circle of life," in miniature.

=^..^=
